Chapter 48 - Etude of a story

"Could you understand what was written on it?" Asked Vaterian.

"Hmm, It was encrypted in a weird pattern. Those Vintelium alphabets were scattered around with no true meaning when you read it, no surprise that the owner didn't understand it." Igor spoke about the note left by the Angle, it was not a thing that he was familiar with.

"Could, you, understand, it?" Vaterian spoke word by word, he only care about the answer.

"Alright…I understand it. Don't be so hurry, at least let me experience the feeling of being in a detective novel, you know those Angles like them, right?" Igor sighed, he sincerely hope Vaterian won't be so dead serious.

"The letter was arranged in a specific form, Saint Patrick cross. It has been a long time since I saw it, the letter within it form a word, Jewel Guild. Read the rest of the letter clockwise, you get the name, Victor Monroe. The only thing I wasn't sure about was the last 2 letters, LMRT."

When Igor still thinking about what those 2 letters mean, Vaterian hit his back and said, "It's mean Lega Mathar Respublica Tharcia. Seems like we need to do some research over there."

"Alright, so you mean we need to go to the Island where all those privileged people lived? What an excitement, almost gave me an illusion that I'm the first time doing this." Igor didn't seem so excited about it, with a quick look outside the window he saw nothing but building after building, this was the first time he felt here is so similar to his homeland.

"Give them some respect, they weren't some bloodsucker like in Hellandia, they just minding their own business. Which you always saw in a republic."

"I doubt that only happened in a republic, quite frankly I was an expert at this department." Igor declare his objection to Vaterian's opinion, despite he didn't know did the republic had these situations but he was sure that he face this problem quite frequently in the Kingdom.

"At least my father doesn't," Vaterian replied.

Vaterian stood up, took a towel and walked out of the room. Looking at Vaterian's action, Igor quickly followed up and rushed out.

"Hey wait for me Vaterian!"

Listening to the voice from his back, Vaterian felt powerless, a thing he barely experiences. "Fuck off!"

But his yelling didn't stop his friend from following him, Vaterian sighed.

___

"How…how was it possible…?"

Vaterian walked out from the bathroom and stared at Igor, who was currently shocked, Vaterian felt extremely drained out, "Why do you care so much about that thing? Was that really important?"

"Tell me…tell me how you enlarge it! You should have the way right, there had no way it accrued naturally!" Igor didn't listen to what Vaterian said. On the opposite, he kept asking Vaterian his questions.

"Get off, stop hanging on my hand like a sloth! It was completely natural !" Vaterian shouted at Igor and shook Igor off his hand.

"Oh, Mister Bernhard! How was the bath with Mister Manfred?" Vaterian asked Bernhard about his bath, weirdly enough that Manfred was missing.

"His wife just came to find him, now he is probably being scolded by Zofia because of late to return home. I hope he enjoying his time, Zofia was never a gentle girl." Bernhard spoke about Manfred's wife, the smile on his face showed he was happy about his friend.

"Zofia…she is a Lendzianie?"

"Yeah, her parents came to Karchidon after the Great Lendzianie Uprising against the Empire had failed. A refugee, I would say. We played together since we were children, eve3n until now we still maintain a good relationship. You might even meet her one day if she decided to come here for a drink." Bernhard rub his hair with the towel and turned away but he was being called by another person.

"Mister Bernhard, can I know where was the Sirens bay?"

Bernhard raised his brown after he heard the question from Igor, he gazed through the teenager and said. "Look like I'm not the only one who interested in those beautiful Sirens, There used to have a huge Sirens bay in Weihen but that bloody Captain ruined it."

Bernhard seems angry about it, but he quickly recovered himself and continued answering Igor's question, "Anyway, you still could find a huge Sirens bay in the area of Wend and Veleti. Especially in Veleti, those Sirens from Lendzianie would give you a completely different feeling from a Hellandic woman."

"Then I may beg my pardon and leave, I need some time to recover from that emotional damage." Igor looked at Vaterian and walked out of the Inn.

"Just be careful when you saw a walking armour!" Bernhard shouted at the door, hoping Igor could somehow hear it.

"Maybe now was the time for us to discuss walking armour? You seem like you are very concerned about it, what was that? Some folks myth or what?"

"Nah, it was just Carolina, even though she wasn't the Captain of Wend or Veleti, she always went there for her patrol. Especially at the Sirens bay, there always a bunch of people get caught."

"The other Captain doesn't care about it? It sounds like she had gone over the line."

"She was protected by the Corvinus and neither did the city council care about it, she was doing the right thing, maintaining order. "

"I never believe you guys will solve the issue legally, what about the normal way you do?"

"Not you, Mister Vaterian, is them. Carolina might have the worst political awareness among the captain, but she had the greatest skill among them in terms of sword-wielding. By sword-wielding, I mean a metal sword, not another kind of sword."

Vaterian felt a headache about this childish adult. "Mister Bernhard, I'm not the same with my mate, maybe keeping your horny mind away is a better idea when talking with me. But anyway, thank you."

Vaterian went into his room. After a couple of minutes, he came out with all his gear on. "I still need to find that guy, he dare not bring his pouch along with him."

Vaterian put on his hood and walked out from the Inn. The night had arrived, despite didn't know where the Sirens was located, Vaterian knows he just need to go to the brightest location in the city.
