Chapter 8 - Chapter 6 : Mana

Miles was surprised and looked at Tae-Wook with a questioning look as if he didn't understand what he said.

"I...I can use mana?"

It was then Tae-Wook's turn to be surprised followed by Aron and Fujiwara.

"Wait, you mean nobody teaches you to use mana?"

Miles nodded slowly while faking a slightly nervous facial expression while thinking.

"Time to figure out what kind of people, they are?"

"A natural awakening."

Aron whispered as he looked at Miles with sharp eyes that made Miles feel as if his gaze was piercing his entire being.

"Miles, although this must be a painful memory but tell me, how you managed to escape from the demons that attacked your city."

Miles, whose face became slightly pale, nodded again and said with a trembling voice.

"When the monsters attacked the city, they killed all the people in the streets forcing everyone to hide in the houses, including my parents and me, but they easily broke the doors and windows."

"When the watch that broke our door came in dad and mamna tried to protect me but they... they.... were.... killed."

"It was then, when the monster was about to kill me that I suddenly felt a great pain in my whole body, I felt like I was burned alive, I saw a dazzling blue light after that I lost consciousness and I woke up next to my.... parents after."

"A dazzling light, Fujiwara is the sign of a resonance, no?

Tae-Wook extinguished his cigarette and glanced at Fujiwara who nodded slowly.

"Right."

"The mana resonance produced by his awakening must have wiped out the entire swarm, the god of luck must love you."

"Damn, a natural awakening followed by a mana resonance, Miles don't tell anyone what you just told us at least not until you join an academy, no, with your talent you may be destined to join the number one academy in the alliance."

"When we send you back to the government department, just say we'll save you and if they ask you for more details, just cry, do you understand?"

Tae-Wook said, looking Miles in the eye with a seriousness that Miles had never seen in his eyes.

Fujiwara and Aron, who had spoken little until now, nodded slowly at Tae-Wook's words before looking at Miles with a deep sigh.

Miles nodded again with a serious look showing Tae-Wook that he understood perfectly what he was asking.

Tae-Wook smiled before rubbing Miles' hair vigorously, making his hair even messier.

"Well, it's time for bed."

. . . .

Miles lay in a sleeping bag and looked up at the dark sky, not letting even a ray of sunlight through, then looked down at the three sleeping next to him, Miles couldn't help but sigh.

"They're good people."

Three centuries ago a strange phenomenon occurred in this universe.

A cataclysm that created holes in the very veil of reality, transforming this world into a bridge between many others.

This event was called the first great mana wave.

The power produced by this cataclysm made that a new supernatural energy breaking all the fundamental laws of the world called rare energy and later mana appeared.

The appearance of mana was a real disaster for humanity which was almost completely eradicated.

Because it is a real fish for the human body, at least for the humans of the first great mana wave.

The greatest asset of humans is their ability to adapt, the bodies of the survivors of this cataclysm have evolved to mana poisoning and after several generations have completely adapted to it.

Humanity, which was then on the verge of perishing, radiated with new life, technology and science made spectacular leaps forward in a short time made humanity even stronger than the pre-mana wave era.

However, although the bodies of all huamans have adapted to mana, this does not mean that everyone can use it.

One had to go through rigorous and unforgiving training or use extremely expensive synthetic drugs to awaken and use mana.

There were, however, rare exceptions, which happened to only one person in a thousand calling the natural awakening to mana.

Naturally awakening to mana demonstrated that a person had a natural talent for it, making naturally awakening people resources sought after throughout the alliance.

"A resonance, however, is an even rarer phenomenon that happens to only one person in a hundred thousand, causing the ambient mana to resonate with that of the awakener's body which shows that the person in question possesses a high level talent for mana."

"Such an awakening guarantees to become at least a C-class mana user, great for a lanbda person but compared to the main and secondary character of this world, I am a waste."

"I got screwed!"

Miles looked up at the sky again, lost in thought, his eyebrows furrowed just thinking about the future challenges that awaited him.
