Chapter 13 - Chapter 11 : Arrival

Miles with dry eyes, his body covered with sweat sitting on a bike, was pedaling at full speed behind Aron, Fujiwara and Tae-Wook who was running at full speed without even a drop of sweat on their faces.

This strange scene was due to the fact that the car they were using until now had fallen into the river after the bridge was destroyed.

Add to that their supplies and camping equipment.

The pickup that the group used was very special because it was an old, completely mechanical model with no electronics of any kind.

These were the only types of vehicles that could be used because a mana wave has effects similar to those of an electromagnetic pulse bomb, it disrupts all communication devices, vehicles, radio and satellite signals and all forms of electronic devices.

The group with no vehicle and no supplies had decided a few hours earlier to walk the rest of the way, except for Miles who managed to find an abandoned bike in front of a house just outside of town.

"At least I didn't lose the book."

Miles pedaling behind the three stamina mosnters raised his head and looked at the blue book floating above without anyone else besides himself noticing as he sighed.

*Pang* *Pang* *Pang*

"Stay on guard, we're further away from the black area."

Tae-Wook who was in the front muttered aloud as he looked at the terrifying amount of red lightning flashing in the sky while a draft with a slight smell of sea breeze blew stronger and stronger.

At Miles' expense, the speed of the three accelerated, forcing him to pedal even faster using all the mana at his disposal to maintain his speed, but even so he could barely keep up with the three.

. . . . . .

The special effects of cinema and animation had made it very difficult to amaze a 21st century human being, but what Miles saw could not be compared to anything reproducible by special effects.

"Holy shit!"

He sweated and opened his eyes wide at the amazing sight he was witnessing at that moment.

Although he had witnessed the near-destruction of a universe, he could not keep his composure, for before him, over the sea, the sky was as if torn in two, revealing among the black clouds, a dark world with scarlet lands and a sea of monsters of all kinds as far as the eye could see.

On the shore covered with the carcass of the monster was a gigantic camp stretching for more than 60 km, where more than a hundred thousand people lived.

The surrounding land was dyed a pure black, the trees were completely dried out, even more so than those Miles had seen along the way, giving the area a dark and gloomy atmosphere, illuminated from time to time by dozens of red lightning bolts crossing the sky at every second.

"This place is overflowing with a phenomenal amount of mana."

Aron, whose pupils had taken on a slight green tinge, choked slowly with a thoughtful look at the show in the distance.

"I feel more and more like we got screwed."

Fujiwara added making Miles frown slightly at these words.

"Let's go."

The group that had stopped moved on in Tae-Wook's words and a few minutes later they arrived at the entrance to the camp guarded by hundreds of men in dark camouflage clothing carrying firearms.

The guards stopped them and after asking some questions to which Tae-Wook answered, they let them enter the camp by indicating the direction to follow to reach the military office.

Crossing the camp, Miles, who had thrown away his bike and was walking behind the three, looked around curiously.

There were men and women wearing various clothes and sitting in groups, some drinking and laughing, others looking tired, and some discussing strategy with fervor.

From time to time, military cars passed by them carrying various equipment or platoons of soldiers armed to the teeth who walked at military pace.

After several minutes of walking, they finally arrived in front of a multitude of large tents where more than a hundred individuals surrounded by piles of documents were busy with various activities.

In front of one of the tents, there were seven lines of people of different appearance who presented at seven tables held by soldiers, these people presented cards of different colors that the soldiers took before writing something in a large booklet on the table in front of them.

"I'm going to check us in and figure out a solution for the kid, try to get us supplies and equipment."

"I'm going to check us in and figure out a solution for the kid, try to get us some supplies and equipment."

Tae-Wook said as he headed for the shortest line while Fujiwara and Aron without a word followed by Miles began to walk around the camp.
