Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Exposed?

'I actually...fell to the lower realms. I need to know more.' thought Ray, he didn't know how is he still alive. But none of that matters right now, he needs to collect information as much as possible and this duo in front of him was a good target. As much as he doesn't want to lie to them and use them for his benefit, he didn't have any other choice.

"The lower lands?" Asked Ray as if he didn't understand what Flora said. He chose to fain ignorance of his situation and create an image of a clueless and innocent boy. Lying was a skill Ray is good at yet not proud of it because of his honest personality. But he had to learn that so he can set a foothold in the rutheless high society.

"You don't know what's this place? You're one weird fellow. Did you lose your memories?" Galdof was very suspicious as this young man was still full of mysteries. "I honestly don't remember anything except for my name. If I try to think of anything my head hurts." Replied Ray while his face contorted with pain.

Being basically a royalty for his entire life, he learned to change his attitude and act according to the situation especially when he's talking with someone of his standing, this was a skilled child should not have in normal circumstances but his life was far from normal since his birth.

"Hmm...What a pity, your parents are probably searching for you now." Said Flora with a sad look. She took pity on his situation. Just hearing her talk about his parents sent a deep shiver down his spine. A flashback of what happened not too long ago started replaying in Ray's mind reminding him of his resolve that he made while standing in front of the misty pit.

Even though he matured way earlier than normal, Ray was still nothing but a child who loves to feel the warmth of his parents love and care, something that he will miss for the rest of his life, unfortunately. The only thing he could do is to suppress these raging emotions of rage and sadness and try to move on so he could reach his goal.

Trying his best to restrain his grief, he tried to talk but his dry throat made him cough instead. With his pitiful state even Galdof dropped his wariness slightly. "Flora, go get him a cup of water and something to eat." Said the old man with a serious look on his old face.

The young girl didn't hesitate and just disappeared into one of the few rooms scattered around the house. The house was spacious so Flora won't be able to hear them from there if they went to the other side of the house.

"Hey boy. Can you walk? I need to talk with you about something." Hearing his serious and grim tone, Ray felt uncomfortable for some reason. The only possibilities is that he got caught because of his lies. Standing up slowly he followed the old man into one a different room a little bit secluded than the others. 'Let's keep the ignorance act for now.' He thought.

"Now that we're alone, are you going to tell me what someone of the holy kingdom doing here?" his question was unexpected and even Ray couldn't hide his shock, something that the old man saw clearly and it proved his suspicion. Such an out of the expected question took him by surprise and destroyed his act.

"As I thought...." His eyes looking deep into Ray's soul searching for any other lies the young boy said. Galdof was pretty sure of his assumption but he nevertheless still asked Ray.

"How did you know?" Ray knew that he was exposed and prepared himself for any attack from Galdof. He was not in his best form and even if he was, beating this old man in front of him would be impossible. His aura alone was very sharp and domineering to the point where he would probably crumble under it if he didn't concentrate enough. He was basically an old monster.

"Calm down Ray, I'm not going to kill you. In fact, if I wanted to, you would be dead before you can even react to it." Hearing this arrogant sentence from anyone else, Ray would've probably scoffed and ignored him. But this old man was totally capable of that feat, and Ray knew that very well. Killing someone before he even reacts to it? How could someone be capable of that? How much strength did this old man have?

"How did you know?" Ray repeated his question less tense this time. His fate was sealed in stone the moment he entered the room so why keep on trying?

Looking at Ray, he started caressing his white beard and then spoke slowly "Well, when I checked your body, I found that your mana core was quite different than anyone I've seen, it was very pure and extremely dense. It's something you don't find in the lower lands. So I ended up with two possibilities, you either were a creature made of mana like elses which doesn't look like it, or you're someone from the holy kingdom."

Ray was overwhelmed, this old man was not only very strong but also very clever. He just deduced that from checking his mana core.

"Now that I answered your question, it's your turn. What are you doing down here." Asked Galdof with a deep look.
