Chapter 31- Strike First.
I was in a van with other members of the UISF tactical division, we were on our way towards the alleyway that I found last week. Most of the men were already geared up in tactical gear and secondary weapons.
They didn't carry rifles or any heavy weapon since they would be using their magic to attack. I would also be un the back on standby in case anything unexpected happened.
Five minutes of traveling later we officially reached our destination. One of the men put up a barrier spell to make it look like we weren't there. This was so no civilians would wander in.
All of the men loaded into the alleyway, checking to see if any place seemed like it was a secret passageway or needed a special spell.
It didn't take long for one of the men to find just a simple secret door handle on the wall. Which surprised all of us because we forgot that the secret entrance could literally be as simple as just a hidden handle.
I especially dropped the ball the first time in finding something so simple hidden as the way into their secret base. 'I am such an idiot.' I thought to myself as one of the men pulled the door handle and the wall opened up leading into their home base.
We headed inside single file making as little sound as possible. Spells were formed and ready by all the men, the captain of the group came back towards me with a questioning look on his face.
"Sir what should we do if they aren't here." The captain asked.
"They are here. I can smell them, when the door opened whatever was blocking my sense of smell lifted. They are all still here." I said going into my semi wolf state.
"There coming." I said getting ready for the battle to come.
Our group got their spells ready in record time Even I was surprised by the speed of which they casted them, even if those spells were very weak ones. We slowly moved closer to the oncoming enemies, each breath was stressful, no one wanted to make a sound.
"Contact front." A whisper came from our radios, form the front of the group. Letting us know that the fighting had officially begun.
The rest of the men sprinted towards the front to help out in the fight. When I arrived different spells were flying all around hitting enemy and friend alike. It was like a madhouse.
Most of the Demon Lord cultists were either dead or severely injured, with only minor injuries on our side. Mostly due to the fact that we launched a surprise attack on them, also our men had better training an teamwork compared to the cultists.
I moved over to the group of men that were injured from the UISF, they were laying behind a wall for cover
"Sir, we were able to get most of them with the initial surprise attack but a few got lucky and hit us. Also I think one ran off to alert the others." One of the injured soldiers spoke as soon as i came before him.
He was a good soldier and didn't loose his head or his wits in the heat of combat plus he was able to give a crisp and clear report despite being injured.
I put my hands out over his injured shoulder which had a nasty burn mark from a fire spell. My hands glowed with a soft golden hue and his burned shoulder started to slowly heal.
"There you are good as new soldier." I said as I moved onto the other injured soldiers that were next to him.
"Thank you Sir." He said as he pulled his pistol out and returned to the fight.
The fighting was basically over now as most of the Demon Lord cultists were lying dead or severely injured. Our group continued on further into their base, wiping out whatever cultists that we came across.
It was easy, almost to easy.
My gut was telling me that something was wrong and that something big was happening.
My gut was usually right so I ran ahead of the group following my nose towards the very back of the base. As I got closer and closer a foul smell of death and decay was ever present in the air. Pushing my legs to go faster, I made it to the end in no time flat, a giant heavy metal door was the only thing between me and that horrendous smell.
Not wasting another second I transformed into my Werewolf form.
"CRACK!" "CRACK!"
Once I was fully transformed I put my hands on the large metal door and pulled, I pulled with all my strength. Ripping the door off its hinges with surprising ease, I threw it to the side. Just as the overwhelming smell of death hit me full blast.
I pushed through and went inside, what awaited me brought back my time on the battlefield where countless dead bodies lay slowly rotting away.
What I saw was just hundreds of human bodies some intact most not. All of them were already decaying and rotting with a single man, no monster stood in the middle of all the carnage.
The monster wasn't the Demon Lord that saved me, he would never do this. No this was the FUCKING BASTARD that tortured me for months the sole reason for my sleepless nights and PTSD.
The FUCKING human King who summoned me. However he was no longer human and instead a full fledged monster that had pitch black skin and red eyes. The only reason that I knew who he was, was because his smell was similar to his and he still wore that god awful crown on his head.
The monster turned and faced me with a maniacal smile on its face. It stared at me with those beady red eyes "I will see you around Alex" it said before vanishing into thin air. Not a trace of it was left nor could I even catch its scent.
I stood there fists shaking in anger "AAAAHHHHH!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. I was to slow and got caught up in seeing that bastard again that I didn't attack as soon as I opened the door.
"Damn" I cursed under my breath as I left the room to regroup with the UISF.
