The 7th Brigata is a brigade from a small kingdom southeast from the mysterious Altare Cremisi Church. The kingdom, Primavera Crepuscolare kingdom.
The leader of this brigade is a woman named Ambra Fulmine. Her reputation as a warrior and a leader is well known by the people in the rural villages. She wields a silver sword with her dominant hand and a wooden sword with her free hand. Such an unusual weapon combination for a duel user.
She leads fifty men under her wing. They are quite experienced when it comes to protecting their fellow citizens from threats of the demons of the east. Well known for their superior archery, they dominate the mountains and plains. They are weak from cavalry attacks so Ambra must lead her men properly.
Their mission for today is to liberate a neighboring town northwest from the Primavera Crepuscolare kingdom. Reason is that the governor there is too corrupt and refused to comply with their law. The whole town have gained power through various misdeeds, which turned it into a bandit haven.
Lots of people have died for they are caught in the middle of the strife between the criminals and the government. The reward is 4,000 gold coins. Confident with her men, Ambra Fulmine accepted this mission.
It took a long time to prepare for the liberation mission. No doubt that there will be casualties once it begins. They will be needing alot of help for this mission. Some mercenaries are interested of joining this mission, especially demi-humans.
Humans and Demi-humans aren't exactly friendly to each other but they are willing to join the mission. Ambra Fulmine wanted to know their motives but they refused to answer. It planted seeds of doubt.
She is careful of who will join their expedition. One energetic young sheep boy said their reason why he must join. To save their younger sister. Ambra sees that the boy is determined but knows that he is still a novice of using a sword. She won't take him because he was too young.
The young sheep boy is quite disappointed. Ambra reassures and promise that she will save his sister from her captors. He nods and thanks her for promising. He returns with a sad smile.
Ambra felt a resolve. She is determined to finish this mission and fulfill her promise with the young sheep boy. She commanded her brigade to move out. All armed with bows, arrows, spears and shields. The whole expedition begins to make a move.
2 days have passed until they reach the outskirts of the town of bandits. Strange grey smokes are seen from the distance inside the town. It could be caused by fires but who caused those fires? Ambra Fulmine commands her brigade to assault the town.
Upon their arrival, they have witnessed a battle between men in red cloaks and rough looking bandits. The men in red cloaks are quite precise of where they stab their enemies. Still, they are quite outnumbered.
Ambra and her men moves in and attacks the bandits from their left side. It surprised the bandits and significantly crippled their morale. The men in red cloaks retreated except for 4 men who knocks out all their enemies without the intention of killing them.
Dwarves suddenly appeared with their huge hammers. They are in cahoots with the men in red cloak. They push through the bandit's defense and charge to the governor's mansion. Ambra manages to swoop in further along with her close aides. The rest of the brigade are fighting with the bandits outside.
She followed where the dwarves goes and reached a small shed. She wonders why would the dwarves go to that place but as soon as they tear down that thing, a hidden passageway is revealed on the ground. Elves begin to enter one by one and guard the entrance from intruders. They of course spotted Ambra and her men and mistook them as bandits.
They drew their bow and release their shots. Ambra successfully dodge but one didn't make it. They were shot to death with arrows. Ambra is very mad and drew her swords. The elves redraw their bow and fire their arrows again. This time, her men begins to use their shields to form a wall.
They slowly move forward and use their spears to pierce through the gaps of the shield wall, hopefully hitting somebody. They eventually killed the elves who are guarding the entrance except for one elf. They ran out of arrows, causing them to panic.
They tried to run away but was killed by the bandits who appeared out of nowhere. They wanted revenge. Ambra orders her men to stand ground and slay the criminals. A loud war cry has been shouted throughout the air. Her men prepares their bow and arrows to shoot from distance. The frontline tankers are ready to defend against the assault. With a wave of her sword, Ambra Fulmine commanded her men to shoot.
Arrow rains from above, hitting everyone it lands to. The bandits begin to charge. The tankers keeps those bandits at bay using their shields as the spearmen finishes them off. This is Ambra's brigade special formation, Fortezza.
Later on, elves from the passageway comes out with some other people wearing tattered apparels. They got wind of what was happening and choose to help Ambra and her men. With their skills as an archer, they fell the enemies one by one with headshots with their arrows. Ambra is quite surprised. She thinks she made a mistake of slaying their fellow men because of the misunderstanding.
One of the elves who looked like a leader requested Ambra to lead the people they take out to safety. They are slaves who were imprisoned by the governor for slave trafficking. Ambra nods in approval and tells her men about the situation.
The elves are holding off the advancing bandits as the 7th Brigata, along with the slaves, flee to safety to the outskirts. They met up with one of the men in red cloak. They shouted sentences like this;
"Glory to the Crimson Demon!!"
"Slay the sinners!!"
"Show no mercy!!"
They say that but they didn't actually killed the bandits they are fighting with. Rather they either break their bones or knock them out unconscious with their barehands. Later on, other similar men in red cloak appeared with a very long ropes and cuffs. They each cuffed and tied all the downed bandits and force them to move along with the pile of dirt.
This battle confuses Ambra. Just who these people are? She certainly heard the name Crimson Demon. Meaning they are sided with the demons. The other confusing factors is that the dwarves and the elves. They are each other's throats in the past. But they are teaming up perfectly with each other.
Loud explosions occured and lots of the houses are destroyed. The slaves are panicking and crying because of this bloody battle. Ambra tries her best to calm them down but was unable to. The slaves are very terrified. They have to get out of the town.
She is about to make a move when an arrow flies to her direction. She didn't notice it but one of the slaves manages to grab it with their hands. A large man with bull horns and bull legs. He is a hybrid minotaur. The other slaves got shot down with arrows. It caused fear among them and the whole situation turned into chaos.
Ambra had no choice but to rally her men and asked the slaves who are able to follow them. They are significantly lesser than before but they can be easily protected.
Dwarves sprung into action and kills the enemy archers. One dwarf who is wearing a big bear helmet shouts at Ambra to order her men to retreat along with the slaves. After that the dwarves let out a loud battle cry and suppress the bandits further.
The attack is so fierce and brutal, the bandits with weak wills chose to flee for their lives. Those who remain ends up either captured or brutally get beaten down into pulp. The men in red cloak have captured the mastermind of this slave trafficking. The greedy governor.
Ambra was about to approach the governor to arrest him but was stopped by the men in red cloaks. She demanded these men to give the criminal to her men, for he is one of the people from their country and must be punished by their law. The men refused her demand and push her down to her knees.
She couldn't believe it. These men are much stronger than the average soldiers. Even she, the strongest woman who didn't lose to men, was easily forced to kneel down with pure strength. Her men became hostile and hold their bows and spears towards the men in red cloak.
In one blink of Ambra, half of her men had their arm broken, like a bent steel. It happened too quick. Her men suffered too much pain. This wasn't suppose to happen. Ambra's fierce demeanor changed into a scared little girl. She wanted to raise her hand but she couldn't. She cannot feel it.
She looks down and gasps of what she sees. Her right arm was also bented. Pain instantly registers into her brain, shocking her so much that she fainted on the spot. At that point, she didn't know what happened after that.
Few days later, she wakes up feeling weak. Her right arm is casted with bandages. She feels very dizzy and fuzzy. She slowly recalls the past events and it sends shivers around her body. She never felt such darkness before. Her mother rushes in to her room full of tears.
Her mother is truly worried sick for what her daughter Ambra has been through from the past few days. It surprises her that her daughter who once a strong willed girl, is holding her clothes very tightly and cries. She pats her head and reassures that everything will be ok.
Ambra feared of what happened to her men. She quickly returns to the tavern where the 7th Brigata usually hangs out. None of them is hanging out of this spot. The tavern owner is surprised of Ambra's sudden visit and was glad that she was alive. Ambra waves awkwardly to the tavern owner.
She wanted to ask them but the words she wanted to say can't get out of her mouth. She is very nervous. The tavern owner prepares a beverage for their valued customer. An orange flavored tea. It is not what Ambra usually orders but this tea is for her own good.
She sips on this hot beverage and it soothes her throat. Heat is circulating around her body for every sip of the tea. She calmed down and felt she is herself again. Ambra thanked the tavern owner for the generous offer of tea.
She thinks of what she wanted to ask at the tavern owner. She asks about her men, about the 7th Brigata. The tavern owner feels bad about it. They answer that the 7th Brigata is officially disbanded due to the trauma from the last mission. For sure Ambra knew what her men felt.
The mission can be considered complete at the cost of casualties of the 7th Brigata. Tales about demon worshippers spread throughout the country. This news eventually reached to the king of the southeastern country.
They deemed that this mysterious group is a threat to their nation and must be eradicated.
