Chapter 28 - Last Words to Pebbles

After returning all the cleaning tools she used, Alicia approached the Young Master's desk to report the results of her work.

"Young Master, I have cleared everything. Are you now allowing me to leave?" She was worried that she would be reprimanded again if she left without getting his approval.

"Yes." After all her hard work, only one word came out of Young Master's mouth.

'Gosh, why does his behavior really piss me off?! If he wasn't Young Master, I would have grabbed his black hair and ruffled it.' Alicia was furious even though she hoped he would repay her hard work by answering her questions.

Since the Young Master immediately fell silent, Alicia immediately walked out without waiting for a second. Although disappointed that she didn't get any clues, she had to accept that she had to give up the opportunity to talk to the Young Master. At least she had settled the matter with him and was able to leave in peace.

When she was almost out of the room, a question was immediately asked. "Do you really not remember what happened to you in the Holy Kingdom?"

She immediately stopped her steps when she heard Young Master's question. Even though she was still annoyed with Young Master, she tried to get rid of that feeling because his question was related to her question earlier.

"Yes, that's true. My only memory is until I was led up a very high ladder. I don't even know why when I woke up, my whole body was bandaged." She still couldn't believe that she would get a chance to talk to him. Without wasting this opportunity, she immediately told him what had happened to her. She hoped that her story would lead the Young Master to share what he knew while in the Holy Kingdom.

"Because after that you almost died!"

"D-die!?" Alicia stuttered upon hearing the Young Master's statement. She doesn't remember what happened to her after being brought up the mountain, and knowing what happened next left her in shock.

"Yeah, I helped you because you're the only one still alive there." Young Master marked the page he was reading before closing his book.

"D-do you mean I'm the only one left alive? The guards of the Holy Kingdom shouldn't have let anyone come to save me." Alicia still didn't understand how she could be saved by someone outside the Holy Kingdom. Considering the violence that the guards and priestess endured while she was imprisoned, it was certain that they would not allow anyone to interfere with the sacred ritual.

"You don't need to know what happened there. What is clear is that all the citizens of the Holy Kingdom died. And you were the only one still breathing at that time." The Young Master turned his chair and placed the book with a gold cover on the table.

"What exactly happened? How could the citizens of the Holy Kingdom die when there were so many of them… And I, who was sacrificed to the Evil Dragon, was still alive? This is absurd!" Little by little, her memories began to come back. She remembered that when she climbed the stairs, thousands of people dressed in white robes filled the stairs she passed.

*Bam*

"Sa- Sacrifice?!"

There was a loud thud accompanied by the Young Master's mumbling that sounded angry. Unlike the anger before, now it seems he is mad after hearing her story. However, she did not immediately believe that he was furious after hearing her story. To be sure, she immediately turned around and looked at the source of the sound.

She widened her eyes in disbelief when she saw the Young Master standing with his fists on the table with his head lowered. He just banged the table.

Looked Alicia's story had touched another side of Young Master, who usually ignored her and now suddenly acted like someone who cared about her.

"Y-Young master? W-why do you look angry?" This was the first time she had seen the Young Master seem to care about her, and it made the girls who were watching him from a distance get goosebumps.

She knew that he was angry after hearing her story. Still, she needed to confirm that he was mad because of it. She didn't want to misunderstand the unpredictable nature of the Young Master again.

"This is irritating! Even though you said that you would be the happiest girl in the world, but to think that you would go only to be killed for the stupid culture of that filthy Kingdom."

Alicia didn't need to ask anymore because his words were clear if he was angry because of the Holy Kingdom. But one thing that made her surprised after hearing his words. He knew the last words she said to her best friend, Pebbles.
