Chapter 9 - Chapter 8: Resurrection pt. 3

Without a second thought Reverie placed her hand on the mirrors surface and thought about her destination.

Not long after, a snowy landscape could be seen in the window before her.

"Wait for me you bastard. I'm definitely coming to haunt you"

She stepped through the gate and disappeared in it.

A few seconds passed and Reverie now stood in a snowy field. In the distance ahead she could see a forest, so dark it looked like out of one of the horror movies. The wind was cold and piercing, but she didn't mind it as she actually liked the cold more than the heat. She already missed Nox, as she wasn't sure when she's gonna meet him again ,but she knew she had many things to do now that were more important.

The portal behind her closed and she was on her own.In shock at portal closing, she turned around to look at the spot where it just stood.

-shit. I forgot to ask Mr. bunny how I get back to the abyss...controlling portals was a top survival skill and could be extremely useful in the future. I should have asked all my questions when I still could. Well it doesn't matter now anyway. I can think about this later. For now I should give my attention to these lot.

She was referring to a group of wolf like monsters, just they were 10 times the size of your regular wolf and looked slightly more scary.

Their eyes were blood red and their fur was covered in ice crystals till the end of their tails. Their silver fur itself made them hard to differentiate from the snow around them. Perfect camouflage basically.

The three wolves growled at her and bared their teeth.

Reverie however....

Well... she wasn't impressed and just yawned.

"oh boy look, some cute puppies came to play!"

She shouted excitingly at the wolves. The monsters only seemed more provoked now and jumped to attack.

The left wolf aimed for her abdomen with his long sharp claws, the middle one for her head with his teeth, the right one for her arm which was currently holding the scythe.

She skillfully dodged all the attacks, but it didn't end there. The monsters fury kept growing and soon she found herself pushed back.

One had got her at the right thigh ,another one at her left shoulder. She clenched her teeth at the sharp pain from the deep flesh wounds and the cold air biting into them.

Nonetheless a big smile escaped her lips.

"come at me, you undisciplined dogs, I shall train you well"

With that she kicked the floor and snow whirled up in the air. She was now high above in the sky, when she swung her scythe with all her might at the middle wolf. The monsters didn't seem scared of her but when the scythe glowed in a blue shine and sent a crescent shaped light down on one of them, which split the monster in two equal halfs, the other wolves tucked their tails between their legs and ran.

Reverie who didn't know much about fighting with a weapon, landed disgracefully in the snow to her knees. In the end her body gave in to the loss of adrenaline and she shivered.

*pant*

She gasped from exhaustion and the cold air piercing her lungs.

"I did it..."

-I beat these pups. I never used a weapon before but it felt so natural...as if I've used this scythe a million times over. Maybe in the past and I also can't remember it?

Anyways ,they got me bad... I gotta get to the next city fast to dress my wounds before I bleed to death....again.

Should have packed a band-aid or two when I was in the abyss still...well it is what it is now.

She pulled herself up with the scythe and staggered ahead. The snow was now dyed in a pool of crimson from the monsters blood. She looked down at the pitiful creature and gave a small nod before continuing into the forest up ahead.

After half an hour of walking she felt her consciousness slipping away slowly. She had been dizzy from blood loss for awhile already but kept pushing ahead. She deemed this a pitiful way of dying and didn't want to give in to it, out of that little pride she still had.

After a few more metres her legs gave in and she collapsed to the ground.

Before her mind fell into the depths of darkness she could see someone approaching.

Black boots framed her view and she passed out.

-Did I die? But I'm not in the abyss and not in the underworld either....Where the hell am I? I'm sure I died from that amount of blood loss...then why am I stuck here? I can't even see anything...it's nothing...not even dark, where is this place?

"badly...in-.. must...Gi-"

-???? I hear something

"ge-.....give..."

-ok seriously I want to know who's speaking

Slowly opening her eyes, she tried to get accustomed to the sounds of the surroundings.

It wasn't noisy but it wasn't really quiet either.

She could hear the sounds of a mortar and prestel and something being grinded. She knew these sounds well from the time she tried witchcraft as a hobby.

The light from the candles stung her eyes and felt like they would get burned, if she would open them again.

Instead of opening them she raised her left arm to cover her eyes to no avail, as pain shot right through her shoulder.

-Ah right, this is the injured arm, gotta use the other one.

She switched arms and pushed herself up with it till she finally sat and rubbed her eyes.

After a few minutes of them tearing up, they got used to the light and she took a look around.

She was in a wooden hut. Probably somewhere in the forest, since she collapsed there after all.

The room was typically designed in a hunters fashion. Rifles could be found over the fireplace , a leather seat was placed in front of it

The window behind seemed to have been broken and nailed closed with wooden boards instead.

She herself was seated on an old leather couch and covered with a wool blanket. She noticed her wounds have been taken care of and looked in the direction of the door. Above the frame a boar head looked back at her. It gave her the creeps but she decided to ignore it. The door leant open and she decided to see who was in the other room to thank them for the help.

-gotta see what kind of person they are and what they want. No-one does something without wanting some kind of payback after all. This is how humans work.

Taking slow steps, she approached the door. Before she could even grab the handle ,it flung open and a blonde haired young man stood in front of her staring at her completely dumbfounded.
