Kane woke up with a confused look on his face, not recognizing where he was, he looked around. Slowly, as Kane saw the arena below him, the memories came rushing into his mind. For a moment, he panicked and touched his back, then, he realized he could move his arms. Relief washed over him quickly as he concluded he must have been healed.
"Hello"
Kane jumped at the voice beside him. he quickly turned his head and saw a man with a blue lab coat staring at him through black glasses. the man was holding a tablet with one hand, his finger hovering over it as he spoke.
"It seems you had some increased speed in strength, but it was negligible at best when compared to a bodybuilder. However, your combat prowess was impressive, scoring you a D+ Rank.
Kane was silently celebrating, D+ was barely in the middle class, but it was there. This meant he would go to the building with medium funding and would have good enough equipment to have a good experience. But finally, Kane realized something "How are you allowed to put me up against that beast! I signed no papers!"
The man sighed as if he had explained this a thousand times. "You did, when you applied, if you had looked at the website you submitted to, you would see the clause."
Kane was dumbfounded. 'I got duped didn't I?' The man in glasses then spoke and gestured to the door. "You got your rank, go to the required building and speak to the person inside the main door." The man also handed Kane a key card with a picture of him and his information. Kane assumed they got this information from his application.
Standing up, Kane took his key card and waved to the man as he left the room, following a hallway outside the building. As he opened the door, he saw peter to his left smiling at him. "Hey! how did you do?" Kane looked confused for a moment, wondering why Peter was still speaking to him, Kane then thought that telling peter his rank would deter him. "I got a D+"
Peter smiled and congratulated Kane, while Kane stood there dumbfounded beyond belief. Peter could make much stronger friends, but he didn't, so Kane wasn't sure if he wanted to trick him into being a lackey. "What rank did you get?"
Peter showed Kane his card and smiled. "A-plus, I worked pretty hard and got results" Kane smiled while thinking that Peter's talent helped him quite a bit too, although he kept that to himself because Peter's outgoing nature was refreshing after all the stress Kane has gone through recently.
Kane parted ways with Peter and started to walk towards his building. The middle-class building was a large one, as middle-class students were the most common, it was the biggest building. Its accommodations were impressive, with brand new technology and semi-large rooms to live in. It had a flat roof with gutters that led to the central garden, although it was more like a farm.
Kane walked into the large double doors that marked the main entrance and saw a woman waiting at a desk. Kane walked up to the woman and presented his keycard. The keycard was taken and inspected by the woman, before she gave it back and types something into her computer.
"You know your room is 69 right? It is on the third floor at the end of the hall" The woman pointed towards a long hall with rows of elevators. Kane smiled as the woman said this and he spoke. "Thank you"
Kane found a unused elevator and clicked a button to open its doors. Walking inside, Kane checked his stats.
