Chapter 4 - Into the Sea

The four walked into the sea. First it was Amalthea, then it was George and Angela and then followed Idomeneus. There in the sea dwelt the octopus, the sea urchin, the sponge, turtle, fish, squid, cuttlefish, dolphin, whale and seal. Alas, they were not going so far that they would see whales. Many a creature they saw but not the whale. Many another creature they saw such as the coral, the sea horse, lobster, crab, eel, ray, shrimp, jelly fish, star fish, molluscs and sea snake.

Some creatures were harmless, others quite deadly.

The moment Angela saw a sea snake, she went straight to the surface in alarm. George followed after her and once both were on the surface, he said to her: "Its alright, I won't let it hurt you. I promise."

Angela's reddish-brown eyes stared into George's mismatched eyes. She worried about him dying trying to protect her from a sea snake. A sea snake was just as dangerous as a cobra or even more so, Angela could not remember which. A sea snake would never attack a diver or swimmer under normal circumstances but still the fear of venomous reptiles, venomous animals of all kinds, persisted for Angela, as did George's care for her.

Amalthea and Idomeneus were now waiting at the surface for them. The latter had an angered look upon his countenance, while the former had a patient expression, even if deep down she was feeling envious of Angela. What had that redhead who reacted with fright at something as common as a sea snake have that she didn't? Having known George for more than less a day.

The English Girl took the Canadian Boy by the hand. There was no reddening of the front, they merely smiled at one another. The English Girl looked to the Cretan Girl and said: "Forgive me, let us continue on to where you are leading us."
