'I'm dying!'
'Wait, this isn't right...'
'I'm drowning!'
These were Luna's first thoughts when she woke up. She had used a spell to send her spirit away from her body when she was dying. But she never thought she would be in danger once again!
She struggled, coughing on the surface. She could see three men. Two who were holding her down, while the other stood on the shore of the river. Luna flung her arms as best she could. She was still becoming accustomed to this new body.
Before long, her hand found a rock. Without a moment to spare, she wildly threw it towards the man on her right. She had managed to hit him in the jaw, and he staggered back. The other man started yelling at her, but she was still too out of it to understand anything anyone was saying. With her attack serving as a big enough distraction, she was able to free herself enough to stand up.
Now having the freedom to breathe, Luna tried to calm down her racing heart. She kept the rock in her hand, and use it to attack the man on her left. He was more prepared, and thus, the rock missed it's intended target. But he had let go of her in the process.
"Hey, lass!" The man on her left yelled at her. "Be a good girl, and don't resist. You will only--"
He was going to explain how this would only lead to more pain, but Luna wasn't really interested. She launched the rock to hit him square in the nose. The man covered his face and screamed in pain. The other man with the injured jaw started to come back to his senses. He grunted and trudged over to her.
Thinking quickly, Luna took the knife from the man she just assaulted. He was too distracted by his nose to notice that she had stolen from him.
"Come any closer, and I'll end you!" Luna yelled to her attackers.
"Hahaha," the man with an injured jaw scoffed, "you only got lucky. It's three against one. Who do you think will win?"
The man with the broken nose started to regain his senses. Both men closed in on her. Luna's eyes darkened, and she steadied herself. Normally she would have relied on her magical gift, but she is unable to access it in her current state. But she knew how to protect herself without it, so she did not feel that she was at a loss in the situation.
Luna didn't wait for the men to close on her. She rushed forward to the man with the broken nose, as he was the closest. With a deft hand and all her strength, she stabbed him in his abdomen and chest. Then she slit his throat. She threw him in the water, and went in for the next.
The other man began to waver. He had not expected her to fight back, much less be able to stand her ground. None the less, he took out his own knife, and moved forward. When he lunged his knife towards her, she was no longer in front of him.
Luna had anticipated the man's actions, so she rush in a diagonal. Unlike his failed attempt, her weapon found its target, just under the arm. The pain caused him to drop the knife. Luna took this opportunity to slash at his throat. He used his other hand to grab at his neck, but it was too late. She had hit a major artery. He staggered back before falling in the water.
Luna took a breath before looking at the shore. There was still the third man waiting there. He seemed to be shaking in his boots. Luna could tell that he wouldn't be much of a problem, so she nonchalantly made her way to him.
"Can you take me back?" She asked him. Even though she wasn't one to show mercy, she also had no idea where she was. The easiest way would be to use him to bring her back.
"I... I..." The man stuttered. He wrung his hands and avoided eye contact.
"It's a simple question." Luna snapped as she reached the shore. "If you don't, then I might as well slit your throat now."
His eyes widened. He saw the evidence right before his eyes. He quickly nodded his head, and moved towards the horses that were tied up.
"Hold on." Luna commanded, when she saw him prepare to mount one of the horses. "Come here."
The man walked back to her obediently. She picked up a rope she found on the ground. Judging from the rope burns on her wrists, this was probably the one they used on her. She tied his hands with enough left over to use to lead him. Happy that she had him on a leash, she let him mount the horse, but she held the reigns.
Since the man was rather frightened of her, he was very compliant. He instructed Luna on the route that she needed to take. She remained on high alert, but she had nothing to lose by following his directions blindly.
They had set out fairly early in the morning. Luna assumed that they had grabbed her host's body in the middle of the night. She was dressed in a night gown and had no shoes. By the time they reached their destination it was dusk.
They had reached a wall, but Luna didn't see anyone at first. She was just about to reprimand her prisoner, but suddenly, several soldiers rushed forward. Luna was readying herself to fight off more attackers, when suddenly an unexpected greeting caught her off guard.
"Princess Olivia! Where have you been? What happened to you?" The leader rushed forward.
'Princess? Olivia? Whose body am I in?' Luna thought to herself.
