With the link between Luna and Midnight rekindled, Luna tried to piece together all the events since her passing. Her ability to control the memories was somewhat poor, as she still needed to build up her gifts in her new body. But she was able to see a series of flashbacks with all of the people of her past life.
She saw those closest to her mourn her. She saw her comrades continue to execute plans that were formed long ago. It was hard to determine how much time had past in each moment, but the evidence of time were evident. Everyone was looking more mature.
Luna was overwhelmed with emotions. It was hard to see those she cared for her miss her, especially Ambrose. He took her death the hardest. Ambrose was probably the most important person in her previous live, aside from her sister. He had confessed his feelings for her multiple times, but she could never afford to be entangled in a romantic relationship. He was loyal to her none the less.
Luna then was able to focus on a particular scene. It was between several leaders among the sect she belonged to. They were sitting around a to large table discussing their next steps against Solarea.
"We need to act quickly." One of the elders declared. "Solarea is becoming quite bold. They are now looking to take the west bank. We cannot let them take the mines!"
"Yes." Another agreed. "We have left them alone for too long."
Several more agreed and voiced their concerns. But it seemed that they couldn't come to an agreement on what should be done. They yelled over one another, until the woman at the head stuck her staff against the ground loudly.
"Preparations have been." She spoke calmly, as though this matter was of no concern. "We are laying the ground work now. Soon, they will be weak enough for the taking."
Everyone seemed to be mulling over her words. They quietly chatted amongst themselves.
Suddenly, a voice cried out. "It is too bad Luna is no longer here." Then many also lamented. "Yes, if she were still here, we could rest assured that we had everything would be taken care of."
"Silence!" The woman called out in a strained voice. "We cannot change the past. Have faith and we will win. It has been ten years since she died. We have been getting along just fine."
Luna lost focus after that. Ten years. That was quite a bit to digest. The world must have changed. How could this happen. She assumed that it would only be a few days, perhaps even a few months. Everything was different now? Could she even go back, if she was able to survive her current circumstances?
With her weakened state, she couldn't have a clear picture of the current state of affairs. She needed to learn more about what Solarea was up to, and she needed to know what has happen in the sect for their situation to be so dire. For now, she would try to gather what information she could from Queen Regina and Willow.
When Luna's was confident that she could conceal her movements, she would contact Ambrose. He may not believe it was really her, but she was sure that he at least listen to her. It was one of her own that betrayed her. Ambrose was sure to have his doubts as well, and be willing to assist in her revenge.
With these thoughts in mind, Luna started to form a plan. When night fell, she discretely left her room. She made her way to the training grounds that were used to train the new recruits. It was currently deserted. Midnight had followed her out, and he grabbed a pair of gloves for her.
Since this body was too stagnant, Luna knew that she wouldn't be able to face the trails to regain her powers without training. She conditioned her body until she couldn't move anymore. Midnight sat on the side watching her. Squawking every now and again.
"You..." Luna collapsed and looked at the bird. "It... is so... easy to watch. Don't laugh. I will make sure you will only eat gruel!"
The bird quieted down when he heard Luna's threat. He then flew over to where she was sitting. He nudged her with his beak.
Luna sat for a while before calming her breathing enough to go back. She slipped back into her room. She put on her nightgown feeling a sense of accomplishment. It felt like she her goals were attainable.
Since she told the maid that she was keeping Midnight, there was a perch set up for him along with his own water bowl. Luna took him to the bowl and helped him bathe. He had a long journey, so he was looking rather ruffled. He was thoroughly enjoyed the attention. He had missed his master terribly. Having her care for him again made him feel like a chick all over again.
Both Midnight and Luna had a peaceful night after the bath.
