Arya and Amaris who had left the bathroom didn't notice a creature etched carefully on the ceiling, watching their entire interaction.
Neither beast nor spirit, this creature singlehandedly brought a wolf into another world as it was instructed.
Retrieving its soulless eyes from the retreating back of the human girl, it gazed at the slight crack in the atmosphere that was gradually widening to reveal the milieu of a world with an entirely different setting.
If Amaris was in here at this moment, he'd discover that the ritual which he thought was a flop was actually a success however, he didn't think of external factors may come to play.
External factors like the creature on the ceiling.
Opening its mouth wider than the whole bathroom which was quite contradictory to the creature's very small stature, the crack began to diminish in size till there was nothing.
After it was done, it shut its mouth and disappeared silently from the bathroom.
Luna Kingdom,
In a room with an all white palette, a pretty man is seen sitting with his eyes closed on a windowsill letting the rays of the sun weave a warm coat on his form.
His lazy appearance made him seem like he was asleep, his slightly heaving chest adding to the illusion.
All was peaceful and tranquil till the man snapped his eyes open, revealing a pair of beautiful golden orbs glinting under the rays of the sun.
Moving to stand properly, the two pointed white ears on the top of his head rotated clockwise and anticlockwise in alert as he noticed a shift in the atmosphere.
'Someone's in here!'He thought as he glanced around.
The man was busy observing the situation in the room that he didn't notice the little mass forming on the top of the windowsill that he was just resting on.
"Sir Sion, you not getting used to my presence after such a long time still baffles me honestly." came the voice that spilled out of the mass that seemed to have been shaped from millions of tiny pieces.
Sion hearing the voice behind him, pivoted at the direction of the sound of the voice, his waist long white locks spinning around with him, just in time to see the last few pieces being attached to the creature's body.
The dangerous aura around Sion dissipated immediately he recognized his guest as he bowed deeply in respect.
"Roe, I'm sorry for not recognizing you. It's just..you're so…"
"Awesome? Unique? Fabulously radiant?" the creature asked before it hopped off the window to stand before Sion.
Sion almost choked on his words. For a creature that had no soul or emotions it was pretty egoistical. It was so narcissistic to the point that Sion was beginning to doubt if what he heard and learnt about it was true.
"Uhh…"
"So which one is it, Sir Sion?" the creature asked, white gas spilling from its mouth as it did.
'This thing was definitely not going to let him off the hook today till he stroked his enormous ego!' Sion thought as he quickly came up with a nice attribute for the otherworldly being.
"Uhm…unique?" Sion asked with his head still lowered in stance. If anybody were to walk in on him right now, they'd think he was bowing in reverence to the window or something.
That was just how small the creature was. It was almost invisible.
"Unique. Hmm, okay I can go with that. You may rise." It ordered.
At Roe's command, Sion raised his white head when he notices a white mist surrounding its form.
Noticing Sion's confusion accented by the frown marred on his face, the creature looks down at its self and makes an understanding expression.
"Ah this? It's just a little side effect for swallowing a half opened portal. Nothing too serious, it will be gone before you know it." It explained, glancing round the room as it did.
However, Roe's words didn't ease the fox's confusion but instead deepened the crease already pasted on his eyebrows.
"My, this place has changed significantly since the last time I came. I see you're doing quite well for yourself in just a short period of time."
"The aura, energy and magic is stronger too. Hmm, I sense a fe…."
"What do you mean by swallowing up a half-opened portal?" Sion probed, a serious expression marring his pretty face.
"I hope it's not what I'm thinking. Does that mean…"
"Yes. Amaris found a way to open a portal back to Luna without using anything but a candle stick." The creature enounced as it hopped onto a chair resting on a bookcase laden with books of different strange languages.
"If I wasn't present at that particular time, he'd have been on his merry way back to his home by now." The creature sighed before he continued,
"I told you from the very beginning Sir Sion, Amaris is not to be looked down upon. Just because you sent him to another world doesn't change the fact that he is and will always be stronger than you. Please let that sink in before you do anything rash here on out." It said as it gazed at Sion's golden eyes with his soulless looking ones.
The discovery and fact thrown at Sion obviously didn't sit well with him as he tightly clenched his gloved fists in anger and frustration.
He had done everything! Everything possible to be at the top of the spectrum, the one everyone revered and looked up to. He had exchanged countless of his lives to travel to different worlds and acquire knowledge just so he and his tribe could take the throne from the wolves but it was nothing in compare to just a smile from Amaris.
Male and female beasts both young and old would fall at Amaris's feet at the snap of his fingers. The maiden that he desperately loved cherished him, the old would lay their lives down for him, and even his own tribe preferred Amaris.
It was Amaris this, Amaris that!
The anger and injustice he felt toward this wolf had reached the peak so he had to do away with him.
Killing Amaris was definitely not an option so he decided to send him away. Far away to a place where he'd only dream of finding his way back but it would be impossible to do so.
And now, what? He actually found a way in less than two days? With just a candlestick?!
'I must be going mad!'
"If I were you, I'd rein in my emotions Sir Sion. You wouldn't want to make a mistake that will make you live to regret your actions." The creature advised, sensing the emotional friction in Sion.
Ignoring Roe's words, Sion walked up to it in large steps and asked word for word, "Where. Is. Amaris?!"
Roe blinked its soulless eyes once then twice before grinning eerily, "I'm sorry Sir Sion but that, I can not disclose."
"What do you mean? I was the one who sent him away. Why can't I know where he was sent to?!" Sion questioned in a rage.
"You are correct Sir Sion. You did send Amaris away but where I send him to is really none of your business." Roe answered patiently like a mother guiding her child.
"And I'm asking why?!"
At the drop of the last syllable that Sion yelled, a loud boom echoed through the walls of the room as darkness overcast it. The once white serene room looked like it was dipped in a large bowl of black ink as the rays of the sun were shut out of it.
Bits and pieces of tables, chairs and book pages flew everywhere before hey were carried and spun around by a wild wind.
In the midst of it all, the creature that was once as tiny as a little bird transformed into an aged man. With a bald head, beards so long they could almost reach the floor, it donned a dirty grey robe with a wooden staff in the palm of his hands.
Gazing into Sion's golden orbs, the only distinct colour present in the room, it warned, "Do not raise your voice at me Sir Sion. The only reason why you're still standing here right now and not separated from your soul is because of the favour you rendered to me. But do not push me to the wall!"
"I..I'm sorry." The fox stuttered to say. He lost himself in a momentary spurt of anger just now. He didn't mean to but his frustration had climaxed.
Roe was about to lecture when he heard footsteps approaching from outside the room.
"You found yourselves shadow guards?" he asked as his left hand stroked his long beard.
"Yes." Came Sion's curt reply. He didn't want to risk saying the wrong thing.
"Okay good. I'll take my leave then." Roe said as the wind stopped and the particles flying in the air dropped on the floor.
The black oppressive ambience was lifted and the sun stretched forth its rays through every window in the room.
His words however freaked Sion out who thought he made him upset to the point of leaving immediately and not seeing him ever again.
But his worries were unfounded.
"Not to worry, I'll see you soon. I won't forget the favour." Roe said to which Sion heaved a sigh of relief.
It had just turned it's bent back towards Sion when it turned around again and said seriously, "I did just as you asked me because you did me a favour but Sir Sion you have a bright future ahead of you."
"Don't jeopardize what you're destined for, for what you want on the spur of the moment. A bright star is ahead of you, you should go grab it. Don't push it away with your own two hands Sir Sion. You may regret it for a lifetime and a lifetime is a really long time."
And with that, Roe disappeared.
"Regret? Lifetime? What does Roe mean?" Sion thought as he whispered to himself with a frown.
