Chereads / The Wastes Weapons Dealer / Chapter 5 - The Gold Laden Path

Chapter 5 - The Gold Laden Path

Katyusha was extremely bored, for the last several hours she had waited in the empty lot with her shop window open and makeshift firing range to the side, the sun was only an hour from setting or so, and then she would be forced to sleep in her vans non-reclining seats or on the cold metal flooring as she could not afford just a basic cot or futon.

Then she spotted coming down the road a group of men with some actually decent equipment arguing with each other with submachine guns and rifles on their backs..

-------------------------------

Einholf, the leader of the new and upcoming Wolfpack Mercenary Team was not pleased this day, to say the least...

Not only the mission his mercenary team just recently ran had extremely inaccurate information on the enemy which almost killed them all, but it mentioned nothing about the enemy having a mounted heavy machinegun at their hideout, of which not only it was a miracle only Brian got injured with a bullet going right through his arm, but that he wasn't dead at the expense of his highly sought after MP-67 sub-machine gun being blasted to smithereens in his very hands and his metal plate armor stopping the bullet after it had gone through and broken his gun...

3,000 Raikars, gone just like that! It took him a whole month of using his connections to find a state in the central continent that had a proper gun to his specifications that they would even be willing to sell, damn nobles! He swore that if the client hadn't offered to pay the massive expense he lost in that firearm breaking and for the unloaded magazines leftover from it he would have just shot him and raided his assets, now he's stuck in this backwater scrap town looking for anything remotely of quality and not heaped together from rubbish to bide his time until he somehow gets another easily concealable and reliable submachine gun..

Now there are only 2 more outlets he can look at, some suspicious trader the local Volkswehr warned him about and some random general store that rarely even fields weapons..

" Alright men, i need a new weapon and everything is nothing but garbage that would jam in a middle of a firefight or something extremely limited, were going to that suspicious dealers place that Volkswehr Capitan warned us not to go to, ill take my chances rather than exit this place with some cruddy sheet metal pocket pistol at an exorbitant price. "

Einholf said.

" But boss! Didn't the Volkswehr warn us not to go here, they might kick us out or even worse that trader could sell us fake or faulty weapons like that one time you bought a counterfeit GWB and it blew up when you tried firing it! "

Brian retorted in worry.

" Shut up Brian! No wonder you got shot in the arm today, you just couldn't listen to our orders and take cover! You just had to prove yourself and by doing so not only did my brother lose his favorite gun in trying to cover you and drag you back, but you then right after cried like a little bitch as we patched you up, I hate new recruits like you, I have no doubt you'll die within a week! "

Erik, Einholfs brother and right hand snarled.

" Put a sock in it all of you, we are almost at this place, I don't want to hear another word of it for now, I need a proper weapon or else we will lose our next gig, and if we lose it we are probably never getting a car! Do you guys really wanna be stuck doing these backwater jobs for the rest of our careers?! That Volkswehr i am almost certain had some hidden motive in telling us this, i sense there is more to it than the nonsense he told us, just sit back and watch how it goes. "

Einholf Yelled back at them and walked up to the strange van parked in the empty lot, none of his men came to follow him and just stayed back and watched with their weapons ready to draw.

Einholf proceeded to walk up to the metal shutter opening on the side of the van with the signage next to it, he observed a curious stranger in a camouflaged military uniform of some sort and a mask covering their entire head looking at him as he walked up, those lime green eyes disturbingly unflinching looking at him, the eyes of a hardened veteran he could tell, from where he did not know, he straightened his leather mercenary garbs he had custom made for himself by a reputable tailor and asked the stranger

"What do you provide?"

The masked man simply pointed to the sign next to them as they sat and layed with their fist supporting their head on the countertop of the shop window, stating in a grimy and low voice

"You can do a limited test fire and instruction of any weapon you may wish to purchase on the range next to me for 20 Raikar's "

Einholf then looked at the sign displaying stenciled caricatures of weapons and items with their prices and information below them

Most of the weapons were extremely new and original to him, never seeing such designs and calibers in his life, one in particular that caught his eye was the one named the AK-47, some variant named a type 2 of the design, it was a weapon concept only recently in use with modern designs in the mainland, a kind of weapon rarely seen in this backward's continent with select-fire and an intermediate cartridge, perfect for him and even better than the low caliber compact submachine gun he had and still concealable enough for him due to being in the middle of a submachine gun and a full-power rifle, he had to buy it!

He knew he had not only enough money to get it but even some of the equipment listed, he had 5220 Raikars he brought with him, more than enough for the gun and all of the ammunition the trader had, and if he could hook up a bag to catch the casings from the gun when it is fired, he could go to any gunsmith and have the cartridges reloaded with bullets again and keep using the gun as he did with his old MP, it was perfect for him.

"I am interested in the AK-47 Rifle you have, the anecdote said it is extremely reliable, do you mind if I test it? I will pay to use your range.."

Einholf asked the strange merchant.

" Sure, let me grab it and a loaded magazine from storage and instruct you how to use it. "

Said the Stranger, Einholf Realized the shop name by now had something to do with this person's name probably, so after connecting the dots he asked,

"Say, does your name have anything to do with this stores name? Is your name Vilchenko?"

As the person came back with the gun and a magazine loaded with a few rounds for it they replied "Yes, my name is Vilchenko and this is my logistical store, that will be 20 raikars."

Einholf handed 20 Raikars from the bundle inside his pocket to the shop owner and saw them put it away somewhere behind the counter, then the shop owner came out of the van through the back door and locked it behind themselves, By then Einhold was already waiting at the range with his men crowded up behind him murmuring to themselves as the stranger walked up with the gun safely pointed to the air and unloaded, they stopped as the stranger Presented the rifle to Einhold, seemingly startled out of their stupor by how superb and well made it seemed, the gun metal polished and shining in the evening sunlight.

"Alright, now that you have had a good look at it let me show you how to disassemble and maintenance this firearm before you go shooting it, first off there is the cleaning components, they come with the rifle, under the barrel right here is a ramrod to use on the barrel for stuck casings and other malfunctions, and this large hole compartment in the stock with the screw slot can be opened with any random coin or screwdriver you can find and inside are a container of gun oil, a cleaning brush and a small rag, understand?"

Vilchenko stated

Einholf Nodded

"Alright now for disassembly, the gun can be stripped like so, this button at the back of the receiver detaches the dust cover in front of it, inside as you can see are the internals of the rifle, you have your recoil spring going through the bolt, the upper bolt and gas piston and the lower bolt with your firing pin and such, here is how they all come off."

Vilchenko then demonstrates how to strip the important internal components of the rifle

"This rifle uses a Gas Piston system, every time you fire pressure from the bullet firing down the barrel thrusts the bolt back through the bolts piston inside the gas tube, thus cycling the action" Vilchenko then demonstrated how it worked

"To take the foregrip and gas tube off for matnence hit this lever below the rear sight and do like so"

Vilchenko finally showed the last of the field stripping sequence

"Any questions?" Vilchenko asked.

Einholf shook his head

Vilchenko then reassembled the gun, put the magazine in, and took it off safe by switching the selector lever to semi.
