Chapter 14 - The First Floor & Upgrading Power

Neil is currently looking at the destroyed stairs to the floor below.

It is early in the morning, and he is here to finally repair the stairs to go below.

He didn't want to get stuck on this floor. He also wants to go out there and see the outside once in awhile.

Now that there are no more threats on the surroundings, it is finally time to go below and see things for himself.

He have bought a lot of guns that are currently stored on DF's Dimensional Storage. He will use it depending on the situation.

He looks at his status.

He takes note of this before finally being prepared. He took a breathe before turning his attention to the destroyed stairs.

"Okay. Here I go!"

[(Destroyed Stairs) upgraded to (Old Stairs)]

It is done. The stairs have been fixed after a shine of light. He looks at it and take a step forward.

The stairs looks old but it is not brittle. It is firm and it can handle the weight of his steps.

He takes cautious steps, his hand carrying the lantern to act as his light. As he goes down, he looks around first.

The whole area reeks. He just recalled that there are still the rotting corpses of the zombies in here.

"Ugh... good thing I have this gun." He pinches his nose before taking the time to take a certain gun on the dimensional storage.

This bulky gun is called as the Evaporator. It seems like it is capable of destroying particles itself.

He pointed it on the corpses and use the rifle at them. A beam of light shoots through, destroying every molecules of the rotting corpses. After doing that, he looks at the floor and upgrades it.

The hallway floors repaired itself. Every dirt, holes, and other undesirables totally vanishes.

"... It still feels unpleasant." He said, looking at the general area where the corpses of those zombies located a short while ago.

He can't help but feel disturbed by it.

"Anyway. I don't know if there are any zombies in this floor so I think I'll put some turrets here just in case."

As he said that, he let his system install an automatic laser turrets besides the stairs. Then he decided to go on upstairs and let things be for a bit.

While he is sure that everything outside has been dealt with, he is unsure about the interior of this building. His defensive weapons are outside the walls of this building, and these turrets makes sure not to hit the building. So there might be some monsters remaining here.

So he wanted to wait for a bit. At least five days before he gets the courage to go back here again.

~~o~~

His suspicions were true. The next day that he came down, he saw a lot of zombie corpses and some sort of giant rat corpses piled up near the stairs.

He can't help but shudder.

"Good thing I made this turret. I'll be a dead meat if I didn't do that!" He said.

He decided to create another turret to the other side of the stairs, evaporate all the corpses using the evaporator, then repair the floors using one of his upgrades.

After that he goes upstairs.

"Ugh... it seems like I'll be staying on this floor for a bit more. Until I make sure it's safe, I'll have to be patient!"

When he got back to his room, he sits on his bed before looking at his status.

He has been thinking about it for awhile. Right now, he decided to finally act on it, having the spare upgrades for it.

He can make systems out of his upgrades so he thinks. Maybe he can also upgrade his upgrading powers?

With that thought in mind, he focus on his upgrades and decided to upgrade it.

[Would you like to upgrade (Upgrades)?]

His eyes lit up at that and he decided to do it. Though his joy is short lived after seeing the next prompt it shows.

[Insufficient Points. 100 Upgrades are needed!]

"What the fuck!?"

His eyes almost pops out as he saw the amount needed to upgrade.

He only gets an income of 10 upgrades every 12 AM or midnight in short. With his current amount of upgrades, he will have to wait for eight more days before being able to upgrade his original powers.

"Right. Of course it won't be that easy!"

He chided himself while staring at the vanishing prompt. After it's gone, he tries to think this through.

'I don't have much to do right now. I have water, a bed, food, and protection. There is no need to upgrade anything anymore.'

'Which means, I can wait it out until I have enough upgrades. On that time, I can see what kind of upgrade it will be.'

'This is also good. I am going slowly on the first floor so this will be a good distraction.'

He nodded at his thought. He is imagining what kind of upgrade it would be.

Is there going to be a new function? Maybe something that will greatly help him?

He can only hope for that, waiting for that day to come.
