Chapter 22 - Adults 2=1+1

Astrid and I then left the council. We were guided by Joseph towards the home I had obtained in exchange for my points. Astrid refused to be led to her home as she decided to live with me in this big wooden house. It had a rustic vibe reminiscent of the clans' style and was located near the top of the hill, it was a cosy place.

The house was already furnished and decorated so we only had to change a few touches and to tidy up our clothes we brought back from the old dorms.

Matt then came out from his home and leaned on a railing at his porch.

'I know that the decisions I made were reckless, borderline stupid. I had very little information about the situation on the outside, mostly rumors and fantastic tales. The foe I was up against or even where it was hiding were things I knew nothing of.'

'The only thing I was sure of is that I wanted to know more. I wanted to venture into the world and find the truth about the old ones. And for that I had to destroy what kept me in the dark.'

"Do you really want to go outside ?" Astrid's voice woke me up from my thoughts.

"I have to, for you, and for our future." Matt answered seriously

Astrid blushed before placing her head on Matt's shoulder, "And what kind of future do you want for us?"

Matt took some time to think before answering "I want a future where we can live together without fear of the unknown."

"~And~?" Astrid giggled

"And a future where I will always be free to do this-" Matt turned around, lifted Astrid in his arms and kissed her. She kissed back on leglocked him to the porsche's fence.

They kept on going at it for a bit longer before several coughs interrupted their first real french kiss.

*Cough**Cough* "I know this is a great day for you to be intimate with each other but I'd like to have a little chat with you before it heats up even more."

The couple looked back at the one that spoke with annoyance for having perturbed their time together before recognising the great elder they met an hour ago.

"By the gods old man. These words are just wrong coming out of your mouth." Matt exclaimed

"Ha. I had quite the romantic experiences when I was young… Never mind, I came here to talk seriously... That little show you put on in the council room was spectacular, I almost believed it."

Both Matt and Astrid were speechless, they tought all the elders had believed them, especially the great elder as he was the one to make that story about them being chosen by the gods. So, why had he helped them?

" Then-"

" Our clan has stayed stagnant for so long, and then by miracle, a collection of the old one's history was found. It brought us comfort and wisdom... So I paid a little more attention to the wonder boy that found it , and look and behold, a genius in both physical and mental domains.

You managed to learn all the knowledge and a lot of skills in the dome like a gluttonous sage.

You even contributed a lot in the development of the new knowledge in our village but didn't take credit for it. " The elder started his little story, "And you, young lady, a warrior that won every single war training scenarios, reached a berserk state with your spirit while being able to stay clear minded and defeating Germul, an awakened warrior, in a 1v1 fight. Impressive, very impressive."

" And? What do you want by spying on us? " Astrid asked angrily

" Oh, don't worry, I do not mean any harm. I simply think that both of you have incredible talent that changed our village. And with change comes opportunity, with opportunity comes power and with power comes-"

" Great responsibilities. Yeah I know, your point?" I stopped him in another one of his elderly ramblings.

" Ho, you surprise me once again… My point is, I believe it is time for our clan to finally grow to become part of the outside world and I believe that you can bring such a change, no matter your age, achievements, knowledge or any god given lies. " The elder conveyed his opinion, an opinion that could have him removed from his position if it was heard by any believer within the clan, and most Valhallans do believe in the gods. They were literally born from the earth, strengthened by a magical voice, twice, and get to live in a closed world that could be called the garden of eden.

Matt turned his head to check on Astrid and was met with an indifferent expression.

" Don't worry about me, I know that you never believed in the gods, and if you don't then you are probably right. And... if gods make us suffer more than they help... do they really need to be worshipped?" Astrid looked him in the eyes and stated.

Matt always thought she believed in them to some degree but it seemed that it wasn't a concern he needed to have as his influence on her was completely overshadowing that of the all-powerful AI's. He won't admit it but it clearly boosted his ego.

" So you want to place me in power? And what do you have to gain?" Matt asked the elder suspiciously

"I have lived for a very, very long time, young man and I don't think I will last much longer.

I have been leading the clan with a council for a good 120 years and while I was able to make us survive, none of our biggest problems have been solved." The elder continued with his long winded speech," I simply believe that you would be the perfect successor for our clan. "

The three stared at each other before Matt decided, " Since we both have the same objective I'll accept your help. If you'll excuse us now we have something to finish. "

He then hooked his arm around Astrid's waist and led her into the house.

The great elder snickered and walked away towards the top of the hill, reminessing of his time with his deceased wife, ah sweet memories.

Matt and Astrid on the other hand went wild at it and fully enjoyed each other's first within their cheets.

Their inexperience didn't trouble them as they got to try a lot of different things and positions that made their adventure even more pleasurable.

Luckily for them, their new home had a great sound insulation as neighbors would have had to suffer their cries until the break of dawn.

It's such a shame little readers couldn't pry into the fight within the house further, such a shame.

Maybe a few magic stones may change an all powerful writer's mind.

Hello my sweet, sweet readers, I have to tragically announce that there won't be a chapter coming out next week as I have a shitton of tests and homework and am not happy with what I have prepared.

Make sure to give me some ideas as I am currently strugling with the future chapters. Don't worry I have a global plan and all that, I'm simply asking for any suggestions that can make my story more enjoyable :p
