Year 1952, Woodstock city
In a scarcly populated lived a simple family of four members. A young couple, with two twin daughters aged eight years, lived a simple and happy life. It was already peak of winters and the small wooden house, situated at the edge of the woods was getting cold.
"It is so cold Henry. I think, you should go and collect some woods for the fireplace. The fire will not last more than two hours." A beautiful lady, dressed in a plain black gown looked at her husband in much worry.
"Hmmm... you are right sweetheart. Zara's fever seems to be increasing." A man dressed in a gigantic overcoat, had just returned from his city work. He placed his palm on one of his sick daughter's forehead and frowned. "I shall go and collect some wood. You feed Maya and Zara in the meanwhile."
The lady nodded her head and looked at her husband as he picked up an axe from the corner of the room and walked out.
"Maya, I am going out. You be a good girl and your sister is also not well. So eat whatever is cooked. Alright?" The man smiled, patting her daughter's dark hair, looking in her big blue eyes.
"Don't go daddy." The tiny girl spoke in much worry, holding her father's hand. "There is a monster in the woods that will eat you."
"Haha! You and your scary stories Maya. But now is not the time. Stay here." Unfortunately, Henry's ears remained deaf to little Maya's concerns.
"I am serious daddy. Don't go." She tilted her head a bit.
Henry shook his head in disapproval and walked out of the house in much hurry.
Maya watched from the balcony through the white, transparent curtain as Henry got into the woods holding an axe in his hand.
Henry briefly waved goodbye to Maya from the edge of the woods as always, indifferent to the worries and feelings of little girl.
Maya sighed in much despair looking at her father. The little girl was confused that how was she seeing everything in her dream, that was about to happen?
From past few months she had been witnessing certain dreams, and she even tried to explain it to her mother. But, Zara's falling health made Maya's mother to pay less head towards Maya.
Zara was the weaker twin and thus everyday her health was deteriorating. All the expensis had to be born by Henry, keeping him severely busy. Maya was thus, unknowingly the ignored child, even though she was loved equally by her parents. The circumstances, of the house made Maya an independent and reserved child from the beginning. Maya tried to tell her mother about her dreams but seeing Zara's health, she then stayed quiet. But few days back, in a very bad dream she had witnessed the same senario. She then saw a wild beast, long and hairy who devoured her father completely, only leaving behind his head and some blood in the woods.
Maya wanted to ignore this dream and soon she had totally forgotten about it, untill today!
