"Grandma l have been having strange dreams every time I sleep.. I... I d. o. n. t know what's wrong with me ." Sheshije spoke with difficulty as she tried to recollect the fragments of her dreams .
She had been in so much confusion lately but she believed the kind old woman would at least be of help.
"Dear child Iam aware of what you've been experiencing, hold on a little bit a time is coming when everything will be unveiling itself unto your naked eyes, as for now follow your heart, late destiny take care of everything dear child. Your path is glowing but the terrain is rugged... I see a blue phoenix coming to fly you up the sky lest you tire you feet from the rocks on the pathway." Spoke grandma.
Sheshije's brow furrowed in utter confusion, she could not bring herself to understand what the old woman was saying. The only thing she grasped saw that she should be patient and let destiny take care of everything.
"God please don't put a destiny with the. bastard prince" she muttered to herself not knowing the woman was not an ordinary human being and she could even hear a whisper from miles away.
"I can smell the scent of the blue phoenix on you... you two have already met, smile child for the phoenix is here to do take you away from the grasps of the greedy hyena." Although she could not clearly understand, somewhere she had a feeling that the hyena in question was none other than the prince of this Land who was a lust driven person. His immorality has costed the peace and dignity of some maidens in the Kingdom but the girls were not willing to bring it out because they feared for their dear lives.
"Grandma Iam so worried the wedding day is just around the corner, mama said the tradition would be done to me very soon because am now of age and soon going to be someone's wife, I don't want the painful experience of that tradition, I don't want to marry him! " Now that she had found a place to cool her nerves all the pent up emotions came flooding back, streams of tears ran down her cheeks without any hint of drying soon.
The old woman hugged her and patted her back to comfort her. " My daughter, it is well with you. cry no more... I just told you that the bird is here to take you away from all the chaos , patience and courage are the ticket to the land of goodness and peace. "
Sheshije noded her head amidst huffs.
The rest of the afternoon the two people spent their time laughing and chatting happily. Grandma taught her how to cook dishes which were cooked by their ancestors long time ago in the beginning of times, Sheshije also learnt old songs which were buried along with the previous generations.
When she noticed that the sun has reached a time when it makes one's shadow appear to be long, she knew that it was time to bid the old woman goodbye.
"Thank you granny, I promise to be a good girl and I will put into practice whatever you have said, will see you again soon." she said truthfully.
" Ooh come on you stupid girl, you're already a good girl and you shouldn't be staying that long without visiting me... Don't you see am getting old my time is running ou," Stated grandma.
She headed to the stream to fetch water inorder to cover up her alibi of getting out of the homeyard. She noticed how different pairs of eyes were staring at her with different emotions and unspoken words.
some people addressed her with respect as she was soon to be the prince's wife while others scampered to the other pathways not wanting to meet the future wife of the merciless prince, they feared for their dear lives because a little mistake could cost them their poor heads.
Sheshije could only roll her eyes at the reactions. She was determined to prevent the marriage between them at all costs.
