" Are you sure?" asked the voice once again.
Extremely annoyed with this repeated rambling Jiang Ying Yue finally opened her eyes and roared with all her remaining strength, " F*ck off!! I don't need your f*cking advice!"
She was a person who was brought up with riches and elegance, her mannerisms and etiquette were perfect and top-notch. Although she had had her rebellious and wild teenage years spending most of her time in the outside world she continued to retain her class and elegance which might have something to do with her upbringing or something that emanated from her blood and bones.
It was very rare for her to use such obscenities out loud. Let alone using it repeatedly twice in a row.
Her fury was self-evident.
However, then again when wasn't the time she hadn't been furious ever since she had crossed over and landed here despite how unwilling she was?
Perhaps she had been holding it in all this while or perhaps she was just too lazy to bother about it.
Now that her patience seemed to have finally reached its limit and someone had intentionally stepped on her bottom line revealing her deepest scar and most forbidden spot her anger exploded and erupted like a volcano trying to engulf and consume everything that came along the way.
No matter how one managed it the outcome could only be devastating.
The disaster was imminent!
If circumstances were to allow her even burning down the whole damn mountain wouldn't have vented the burning anger accumulated in her heart at this moment.
Despite being engulfed by helplessness her eyes were scorching with flames of fury and resentment.
Every pore of her body screamed of resentment and anger. Entwined with grief and guilt these emotions were like a corrosive poison that corroded her heart bit by bit.
It was unbearable and painful.
It wasn't that she didn't understand the art of letting go now that the blood debt had been avenged.
She knew it was time to let go. The dead were gone but the living ones had to continue. She understood it all and had been trying hard to do it.
And wasn't that why she had even gone to the extent of hypnotising herself?
Even if it was living in delusion she had kept living on, she had never thought of giving up. Even if her life had lost its cause and direction she had never thought of giving up. Because...she didn't want to let down her parents, even if they were no longer in this world she didn't want to let them down.
However, she was tired now, too tired to continue. Couldn't she just take a rest for a bit?
The world had never been an easy place.
It called her ruthless and vicious. A vile creature whose hands were stained with the blood of her blood relatives. There were all sorts of rumours about her although no one mentioned it out loud she knew what was going on.
The people both feared and loathed her behind her back, to them she was no longer a human but an existent akin to a bloodthirsty monster.
But even so, she had never cared. What was reputation when you could just step on them and trample them with power until they sing your praise?
Even if they loathed her so be it. In the end, they all had to bow down and submit to her authority and might. She never cared nor did she regret her action, let alone fear the so-called haunting conscience.
If one were to talk about regrets and guilt then that would only be....that she couldn't protect her parents. If only, if only she had appeared at the right moment everything would have been different.
Yes....everything would have been different.
However, there was no medicine for regrets. Even if she drowned herself in endless grief and even if she killed herself her parents would never return back.
If only...Ha!
Jiang Ying Yue let out a rueful laughter.
" Fine." The voice paused briefly, " Since, the host doesn't need my advice I'll refrain from saying it. However, are sure you want to let your parents down again?" The tone was vague and solemn making Jiang Ying Yue feel his question held different meanings.
" My parents?..." Her voice trailed off sounding distant, somewhere far away beyond the unreachable horizon.
" Jiang Zemin and Nangong Ruyi, your parents." The tone was firm and unquestionable as if stating an undeniable fact.
Jiang Ying Yue's eyes which were dazed trembled slightly upon hearing the names, however, she managed to suppress them and quickly shut her eyes as if trying to escape from something.
It was evident that she was shaken for a moment but her heart seemed to be tightly guarded by some barrier and not easily shaken.
Her voice was unusually cold and emotionless as said ruthlessly, " I am not Jiang Ying Yue and...there's no way they can be parents." Her teeth were tightly clenched as if she was biting hard on every word that came out of her mouth.
She felt her heart ache so much that it was suffocating.
'Ha!... Sia, you still fell for it in the end. Didn't you?'
'It hurts, right?'
'Yes...it hurts...'
Jiang Ying Yue pressed her hand on her chest.
No matter how hard she tried to escape she still fell for it in the end!!
Jiang Ying Yue mocked herself again and again.
She was so much in pain that her pale face turned even paler, it looked as pale as transparent paper. She appeared so helpless and fragile at this moment as if it would only take a touch to shatter her into pieces.
" But, you are Jiang Ying Yue." However, the system appeared as if it hadn't seen her pain, adamant about not giving up.
" No, I am not!" Jiang Ying Yue snapped back.
Even so, the system didn't mind and continued with his insistence, " No, no, you are Sia but you are also Jiang Ying Yue, there's no room for denying it because it's a fact!"
Jiang Ying Yue's chest heaved at his annoying and unending persistence, she was on the brink of losing her patience, " Just because I happened to inherit this body doesn't mean that she and I are the same. She is she and I am me, even if that person is dead all her belongings were never mine and would never belong to me."
Yes, that was the truth.
How could she easily accept someone else belonging as her own without any unease and conscience?
Let alone when things weren't just simple belonging but family and parents.
No matter how unscrupulous and conscienceless she was this was something she couldn't accept it. There was an impenetrable barrier in her heart resisting this very idea of accepting them freely.
Upon hearing her words the system seemed to let out a sigh, " What if I say both of them, are you? Jiang Ying Yue had never died it's just that you crossed the world."
" Huh?" Jiang Ying Yue opened her eyes looking puzzled, " What are you trying to say?"
" Hehe...You are so smart, can't you tell what I'm trying to say?"
" No." Jiang Ying Yue's eyes glinted and she averted her eyes looking evasive.
" Don't play dumb. The moment you saw your face you had your doubts and guesses. And wasn't it why you have been trying so hard to run? coming all the way here, the Beast Heaven Mountain. You didn't hold any ambitions before, why did you change your mind so suddenly?"
Jiang Ying Yue opened her mouth to rebut seeing that this system was trying to dig deeper. It was one of her deepest secrets that she had hidden in the farthest corner not daring to touch, " I, I--"
" Don't tell me you wanted to train, would you even believe that?...Ha, obviously not. Jiang Ying Yue, you are just trying to escape. You're scared, right? scared that all your hopes and anticipation would only end up as a mere dream in the end. You're rebellious but you aren't unreasonable and stubborn. So, why are you repulsive towards your new identity and parents?"
Jiang Ying Yue clenched her fists so hard that her knuckles were turning white. Her usually calm heart was turbulent.
" I am Jiang Ying Yue?...." she mumbled to herself, " But what if...No, no."
She hugged her knees tightly and buried her head deeply hiding from all the possibilities.
What if she was not?
What if he was lying?
If her hopes were to be just dashed like that then she'd rather not have any!
" Jiang Ying Yue, it's useless hiding. Sia and Jiang Ying Yue had always been you. And it's your grandmother who started all this."
Hearing the sudden mention of her grandmother Jiang Ying Yue couldn't help lifting her head, " Grandma?.."
" Yes, your grandmother." the system nodded solemnly, " So, Jiang Ying Yue don't let her down."
" My grandmother? which grandmother are you talking about?" Yes, she had two grandmothers, after all, oh not two it's four.
" Of course, it's your father's mother." the system responded, " And that's all! Don't ask more, if you want to know more you have to just wait patiently. Till then grow up, you don't have much time on your hand."
With that system didn't continue and changed the topic, " Here, take them. They'll be assisting in your task."
The system threw the two dolls who were still clutching onto each other's hair and rolling on the ground.
Jiang Ying Yue glanced at the two speechlessly before blinking her eyes.
Fighting again?...
" Don't look at them like that. They might look useless but they'll be able to help you a lot. Use them to your heart's content." The system paused before continuing, " Wishing you the best of luck for successfully completing your task."
Task?... What task?
She didn't hear anything.
" Hey! What task?!"
" Finding hidden treasure."
" Where?"
" Those two will help you."
" Damn it!! Can't give me the location?!"
" No, you have to find that yourself."
" You just don't want me to live well."
" No, the system always hopes for your best."
" Best my butt!! You just want me to die without a complete corpse!"
" No, the system always hopes for your best."
" Remember to collect the beast cores as much as possible, they'll be added as bonus points."
After that, the surrounding fell into silence and the voice no longer spoke.
There was complete silence until....
" Ugh...let go, let go, let go of my hair!"
" No, you let go of my hair first!!"
" No, I said you do that first!!!"
" No, no, ugh....aya...huhu..why is it so cold suddenly?"
Jiang Ying Yue was speechless at the two brat's unawareness.
Help her?....
Was he kidding!!
It would be good if they didn't cause any trouble.
She could already imagine herself carrying these two troublemakers and running around this forest.
Was there a chance for her to make it out alive?
Jiang Ying Yue highly doubted it.
However, regardless of all her doubts there seemed to be a dazzling light in her dark orbs shining brightly.
They were bright and brilliant, unlike those superficial gems making their owner appear more alive and dazzling than usual.
There was finally hope and she was no longer lonely.
If that was the case then all these rightfully belonged to her and she wasn't taking up someone else nest.
Owoooooow!
Jiang Ying Yue and the other two suddenly flinched.
Owooooooow!!!
