Chapter 77 - Abhram Using His Old Trick

Three of their expressions changed immediately, all their senses stood on high alert.

Abhram and Azure who had been going through a fierce argument on the ground instantly let each other go and got on their feet without stumbling to take up their respective positions on their master's side.

The two little ones looked equally dishevelled with their chicken-coop hair and tattered clothes, however, despite sharing the alikeness in their physical conditions both were surprisingly displaying two completely different mental states.

Abhram donned an indescribably ugly face with a sheer look of grimace while Azure on the hand was on cloud nine, with her two clear glass-like innocent eyes burning with a strong desire to win.

Abhram sneered, ' Good, very good! This damned obnoxious system...Ugh! One day he'd definitely have his due revenge!'

Anyway, its never too late for a gentleman to take his revenge.

For a moment he felt so aggrieved that he wanted to squat in one corner and cry to his heart's content, why was his life so hard? But the circumstances wouldn't allow that, he could clearly feel so many pairs of eyes observing their every move from the shadows.

The gazes were so intent and malevolent that they made one's hair stand on its end. Even Abhram who had seen enough of the world could tell that these beasts wouldn't be easy to deal with.

What Abhram could feel the other two also had felt. Their body was on high alert as their mind raced around to come up with a foolproof escape plan.

Yes, escape. There was no way they could defeat so many pairs of fangs and claws at one go them especially when the current situation was still unknown. They had a feeling that this night was going to be long.

With their current level, they might be able to handle a few but tackling so many at once would be utterly foolish.

And of course, they were the smartest ones, his master and him and they would definitely not choose to do things foolishly.

So, the best choice was...finding an opening to escape. Hmm...its looks time to use Azure. That violent brat would definitely agree with his suggestion.

He was so smart...Hehe!

"Are are scared silly? Why are you smiling like a fool?" Azure threw him a glance from the corner of her eyes and pouted unhappily. Despite wielding such harsh and blunt words she still managed to appear indescribably innocent and cute.

Abhram rolled his eyes choosing to ignore her, he had a more important thing to do now and didn't have the leisure to entangle himself in such useless arguments.

Anyway, they would be using her to distract the enemy later, let's just forgive her this once.

The peering eyes in the darkness slowly moved forward closing in yet for some reason they didn't show any intention to make their move. They just kept watching them.

Several pairs of luminous green eyes glowed in the darkness resembling pure emeralds displaying their beauty to the extreme yet even this overwhelming beauty couldn't overshadow the terrifying murderous intent in them.

In the past, Jiang Ying Yue had been very fond of these highly intelligent and devoted creatures and had even conducted an elaborate study on them regarding the interaction among the pack members.

Wolves were very complex beings. They were the type of beasts who were socially adept, they often displayed terrifying intelligence and ambition when it came to defending their territory. They mostly moved in packs and all the actions of the pack members were well-coordinated.

They were often known as aggressive and fierce beasts but they also had a caring devoted and goofy side to them.

However, that was all in the past. At this moment Jiang Ying Yue could feel her heart palpitate. As much as she tried her best not to show any weakness she secretly couldn't help but sweat. Her limbs and palms were deathly cold yet she could feel a layer of sweat on her back and forehead. It was already too cold but now she could feel herself shivering even harder.

It wasn't that she was a coward but it was those gazes that were extremely terrifying and oppressive. It filled her heart with fear and a strange sense of thrill she hadn't felt for long. Her dark eyes seemed to glint with brilliant sparkling and her whole being seemed to be rejuvenated and come alive.

Faced with those scorching gazes lurking in the darkness Jiang Ying Yue didn't shy away and stared back into them with the same intensity.

Those glowing eyes hiding shadows looked extremely intelligent and humanlike that for a moment she couldn't tell the difference.

Despite holding an unprecedented ill-intention and malice the other part didn't make a move and kept staring at them trying to gauge them, trying to intimidate them showing a peek of forbearance and intelligence.

Both parties silently played an invisible tug-of-war trying to test the other party's mental fortitude.

Heh....she finally understood why spirit beasts were so notorious, especially ones with higher cultivation.

In terms of intelligence, they appeared to be on par with humans.

"Azure, let's compete." Abhram started implanting his plan, " The one who can kill more can have Master fulfil one of his wishes, how about this, do you agree?" He seemed to be very professional in digging pits with the way he could trick people while keeping a straight face.

And as expected his old trick seemed to be working again as Azure easily took the bait. However, Azure also had her temper and was not to be trifled with.

Hmph! She couldn't be led by the nose!!

To show her dominance Azure arrogantly went ahead and decided to negotiate further before buying the deal, " Only one wish? Isn't it too cheap?! Moreover, if you want to compete find someone of your level. Why are you looking for me, are you looking down on me?!" Her tone was infuriatingly arrogant and pretentious to the extreme so much so that Abhram had the urge to vomit a litre of blood.

Abhram hands were itching furiously wanting to teach someone a good lesson. However, he didn't dare.

For today he had enough of a beating!

He knew himself too well, he was too helpless against this 'monster's' violent tendencies. So, he could only swallow his anger and grievance.

" Ah...you are right, it's my fault!" Abhram looked annoyed at himself as he continued apologetically," It has been a long while since I came out, it looks like it seriously affected my memory. Yes, yes, you are right, Azure. I'm not worthy of competing with you."

He looked down looking disheartened and lonely. His small figure looked particularly pitiful that whoever saw him at the moment

Jiang Ying Yue couldn't tell what he was playing at but she couldn't forget how she had been tricked at the beginning. She was sure he had more cards up her sleeve. He wouldn't be giving up until he achieved his goal.

This was exactly how he behaved when they met for the first. Jiang Ying Yue still remembered it very well. Her mouth twitched slightly but she didn't say anything at the end. She just quietly stood there on guard while paying attention to the development.

She was curious to see what scheme this brat was trying to cook.

And sure enough.....

" However, a gentleman must keep his word. Since I've already mentioned it how can I take back my words." He sighed helplessly, " Azure, bear with me, alright? Don't worry I'll definitely try my best to not let you down...And oh we should also increase the reward to fit your standard." Abhram scratched his looking deep in thought before he lifted his stubby fingers hesitantly, " How about two?"

Hearing his repeated praise Azure was happy as her face brightened but she still pretended to be dissatisfied, " Hmmph....only two?! No way!"

Seeing that she wasn't budging Abhram showed a frown on his looking troubled and reluctant, " Then how many do you think is right?'

"..."

Jiang Ying Yue was speechless.

What sort of transaction was this?!

Did they even bother to ask for her permission?

One seemed so reluctant to accept the challenge while the other one seemed too reluctant to part with the prize when she was the only one who was going to sponsor.

These two brats were simply too immoral!

" Alright, stop messing around. It's not good dragging it for long." They were already freezing if this went they would freeze to death even before those hungry beasts could attack them. Furthermore, they still had a task to complete and had no idea of their current situation, " Let's make our move first and try to take down their pack leader."

Wolves had a clear hierarchy system among their pack members and strictly followed their Alpha's rule.

So to take down this whole pack they must take down their Alpha first. Although these wolves were spiritual ones, Jiang Ying Yue didn't believe that they'd be that different.

" Yes, master, let Azure do this. You stay behind and watch." Here he was waiting.

From the beginning, he wanted to use Azure to lure away the wolves so he could take chance and escape with his master.

He had no other way. These wolves were all above the rank of Martial Green. If they went head-on they would only suffer severely.

And he would never allow that, especially his master. If something happened to his master they would end up being trapped in endless oblivion forever.

Even if he had to make some sacrifice so be it. Besides, he didn't think that Azure won't able to escape safely. He knew Azure's strength. It wasn't for a reason she was called the strongest one among them.

" Yes, master, let me do it." Azure also followed along and patted her chest to declare arrogantly, " It's a piece of cake for me." This was what she learnt from Abhram. Since he returned he had been blabbering all sorts of new terms she had never before.

Hmm...they sounded quite fun.

Jiang Ying Yue was stunned for a moment before her eyes turned cold and she frowned slightly, " No, since it's my task I have to do it myself. As for you guys just take down as much as possible. If we can't kill them all we'll just escape."

Yes, escape. She didn't feel ashamed saying that word. She wasn't a rigid and strong-headed person, rather she was very flexible. She knew when to bow and when to stand. It was only when it came to her parents she was particularly persistent.

It was better to keep your life and flee than end up dead because of your self-arrogance.

As long as you live you could always figure out a way.

Being tenacious didn't mean that you'd go courting your death at every turn when you have an apparent chance to escape.

She was not stupid nor she was a masochist.

Why would she torture herself just for a short-lasting thrill?

Further, she was sure this pack wasn't the only one. She reckoned that they were most probably thrown deep inside the forest by that damned system. There was no way of escaping and a lot to come.

" Master..." Seeing her determination Abhram immediately panicked and tried to persuade her.

" No." However, her tone was firm and cold.

Although, she sounded as usual Abhram, who had been following her for a while could easily feel her subtle change.

From the angle he stood he couldn't see her face but he still somehow felt that their master seemed to be glowing.

What on earth happened?!

Did their master finally got enlightened?

Abhram was dying of curiosity when he heard his master's urgent call.

" Let's begin."

All three of them took their position ready holding their respective weapons.

Jiang Ying Yue glanced at the ugly broad sword and frowned slightly not hiding her disgust, while Abhram plucked the beautiful hair pain from his and it once and in an instant it transformed into a dazzling silver whip, its handle studded with all kinds of gems. Azure, on the hand, was the one who travelled the lightest and had nothing on her hand. Her small and soft plum hands were the best weapons she could get.

However, Jiang Ying Yue had no time to get surprised. Seeing them move the other party was also getting restless. But Jiang Ying Yue wasn't the one to give her opponent any advantage and sprang into the battlefield before they could react.
