At this moment all their fears and suspicions were forgotten. All their ears perked up and attention instantly shifted back to Wei.
Just like Jiang Ying Mei and Jiang Ying Yue's other companions they were all eagerly waiting for Wei's answer.
Various gazes holding various intentions, both evil and good lay naked before Wei very vividly displaying the two contrasting faces of human nature.
Wei slowly lowered his head and looked at the little girl who resembled Jiang Ying Yue somewhat which made it difficult for him to just ignore her. So, after a moment of pause, he decided to answer, " Her bleeding stopped, she'll be alright." His answer was short as usual, without wastage of a single word.
All who saw him naturally assumed he wasn't a talker but only Abhram knew his exterior of man-of-few-words was entirely a disguise. The two monologues this man had with Jiang Ying Yue secretly were enough to tell the history of this continent.
And people think he wasn't a talker. If someone asked Abhram he would shout that it was an outright scam.
"Then can I have a look?" Jiang Ying Mei requested softly, fearing that Wei might reject her request she quickly added another sentence, " I won't disturb her. I'll just take a glance!"
Nonetheless, her request was coldly rejected, " No."
Jiang Ying Mei had expected Wei to say this given his cold nature and his habit of only listening to her sister, yet when he said it she still found it hard to accept it without giving a good fight. She wanted to say that was her sister and fight with this man until he let her in but before she could get the chance to open her mouth to quibble hard she heard a series of yelling and shuffling behind her.
" Hey move! Don't block the door."
" Who are you to order us around?"
" Who are they?"
" I don't know. May some prick who got tired of living." People kept muttering their displeasure while refusing to move. Instead, they were beginning to aggression toward the man who asked them to move earlier.
They shoved the man rudely, their eyes and actions all showing hint of provocation. They were even thinking of hitting him if the man gave into their provocation and decided to confront them.
However, before the fight could break the innkeeper rushed in. He was panting and looked anxious as he rushed forward and stood between the two parties.
" Hey, hey...do you know who are they?" Said the innkeeper trying hard to stabilize his breath.
" Who?" Those troublemakers who had no idea what was going to befall them asked simultaneously, their voices holding concealed arrogance.
The innkeeper looked at the bunch of fools who had no idea how far the sky extended beyond the horizon and felt some pity as he answered their question, " They are the Guardians of Lan Quan. That elder over there, he is one of the chief guardians, Elder Mo." As he said this he gestured in one direction and bowed deeply showing his deep respect for the Elder.
It was only then the people inside the hall noticed a tall sage-like old man dressed in complete grey standing behind the group of people across the door. His long hair and long beards were snowy white, as white as the snowy cap of a tall mountain. His face was all wrinkled yet his pair of eyes held child-like curiosity and liveliness. As he stood there he watched people arguing with great interest as one hand held his wooden cane while the other kept stroking his long white beard.
When he was enjoying it so much he was suddenly interrupted making him pout in displeasure as he snort, " Ugh...can't you just let me watch a bit more?.... It was just getting interesting, you know....."
The innkeeper and the people who came along with him all choked and were speechless hearing him throw a child-like tantrum at this moment, however, it appeared like they were quite used to it so their expression turned back to normal after cracking for a moment.
But this wasn't the case for others. They were all shocked they never imagined the mighty Guardian of Lan Quan to be like this.
Was he supposed to be solemn, wise and rigid?....
.....then how did he turn out like this?!
This old man clearly looked like.....an old urchin, no matter how they tried to see him.
Was he a real guardian or a fake one?.....
This matter looked highly suspicious.
Those young people who came with the elder saw the clear suspicions written on their faces and felt a rush of embarrassment.
Nevertheless, they were helpless when it came to managing the elders, who were all old, wise..... and obviously a bit quirky. Elder Mo wasn't the only one.
" Ahem...Elder Mo, did you forget we're here on important business?" said one of the younger guardians who followed the elder.
Elder Mo who had been immersed in watching the drama until he forgot his business suddenly shook his cane and bolted inside the hall like a gush of wind without giving those people any time to react.
" Elder Mo....be careful." Shouted one of his disciples from behind looking at the almost flying figure of his master.
Taking care of their master was like taking care of a child. Those disciples were always anxious and worried.
" Hmph!... I just grew old I didn't lose my legs." Elder Mo snorted at this as he continued walking taking long strides.
Though he was old his legs were quite swift in a few strides he stood right before Wei, looking at him with his wrinkled, interest-filled eyes.
" You are the companion of that boy, right?" Elder Mo asked though it was a question his tone was certain.
Wei also stared back at him but he didn't respond which looked quite rude.
Even Tian Shan and others felt that it wasn't wise to behave this rudely after all they were now in this old man's territory. They had to show him some courtesy.
Yet, they didn't step in because they understood Wei's character and also knew why he was being so rude.
These people were here to capture their friend, who was still lying unconscious on the bed. So, there was no reason to be polite to them.
" Ah! What a capable fella...Hahaha." To their surprise, this Elder Mo was a quaint creature, who didn't mind their rude behavior instead he laughed merrily before he continued, " Alright, now time for important business. Young masters and young ladies I believe you all learned the rules of Lan Quan before you stepped into this town. So, you can already guess my reason for coming here, right, I am here to invite you all for a chat. Do you mind following me?"
" What if we don't want to?" Wei finally responded in his icy cold voice.
The old man heard this and his whole person turned grave and solemn, finally asserting his position as the Guardian he commanded strongly, " You must follow me."
" No." Wei, however, wasn't the one to be intimated his answer was curt.
The Elder found Wei even more interesting looking at his courage and calm demeanor.
In the end, Elder Mo could only reveal his trump card to coerce this group of teenagers to follow him, " If you want to meet your companion again you must follow me."
There was finally a tremor in Wei's calm and composed demeanor as he heard this. Not long after he also realized he could no longer feel Jiang Ying Yue's aura around him as if the girl had disappeared into thin air.
Wei hurriedly pushed the door opened and rushed inside to find that the person lying on the bed was nowhere.
