Chapter 5 - Chapter 04 - Herald of the End

Startled as Lyra was, she screamed out of embarrassment.

'Woah, keep your voice down will you?' Alexander said.

'What are you doing here?!' Lyra asked.

'I was just taking a stroll when I happened to come across you, what's wrong with that?' Alexander replied.

'Oh, sorry I was just startled.' Lyra sighed.

'It's fine, but what are "you" doing here?' Alexander asked.

'Same reason you are, taking a breather.' Lyra replied.

'Do you mind if I sit down next to you?' Alexander asked.

'No, go ahead, I can't take this beautiful place just for myself.' Lyra replied.

As they sat down under the tree, with the cold breeze hitting their skin, Lyra can't help but think.

'Why can't it just be like this.' Lyra woefully said.

'Like what?' Alexander replied.

'Peace. Everything just seems so full of distress now.' Lyra said.

Alexander stayed silent.

'Sorry, dumb question.' Lyra said.

'No no, I feel the same way. It's just a lot of responsibilities being handed to you all at once, it's really difficult trying to process it.' Alexander replied.

(Huh, I can't believe someone actually feels as terrible as I am. Never really knew how cruel the world is till now.)

'You okay? You can talk to me if you need to. We may not be very close yet, but you can trust me.' Alexander said.

'Thank you-' Lyra said as she felt a sharp pain on her head.

'Hey are you okay??! Lyra! Lyr-' Alexander's voice faded.

(Everything went dark… Am I asleep? What's going on…)

She stood up and looked around, only to see a pitch black plane with no sense of color.

(Where am I?)

As the room got darker and the floor started to move and became less dense, Lyra started panicking.

Her heartbeat was rising with the beats being as loud as a siren. She could not see anything.

Suddenly, everything stopped. The beating, the floor. All went quiet as a sense of goosebumps surrounded Lyra.

She turned her head only to see a kid. A young girl.

'Hey! Are you okay?' Lyra asked.

She started walking towards the girl.

As she walked, the ground began to shake once more.

As she got closer she noticed that the girl kept staring down, she couldn't see her face at all. She was pale and had black hair. She also seemingly had chains on her wrists and ankles, the one on the ankles are still intact but the one on her wrist seems to be shattered.

As she got to the girl, she reached her hand atop her shoulder.

'Hey, where are we?' Lyra asked nervously.

The girl stayed quiet.

'Hey, answer m-" Lyra said as the girl suddenly grabbed her arm.

'Ow! hey stop-' Lyra exclaimed.

The girl held tighter and tighter. She held her head up leaving Lyra only to see pitch black eyes with blood dripping from her eye down to her chin.

"You weren't supposed to live" Said the girl as her words echoed the space.

Startled as Lyra was, she tried removing the girl's hand away, yet failed.

'Stop!!! Who are you?!' Lyra exclaimed while in pain.

"Why, I am but a mere message. But remember this, girl, this world is in chaos. Unbalanced by the result of your existence. You have corrupted the natural order." The girl said.

"This world is tied by strings, that'll eventually rip with the course of time. However your string isn't tied. Your fate is ineffable." The girl added.

'What are you saying?! Ow- Stop!' Lyra said as she struggled.

"As the couturier eventually finishes the cloth, he must also clean the loose threads."

"Your fate will be sealed, Avalon.

Accept your mother's punishment. inherit her sin." The girl proclaimed as she broke her grip off Lyra's hand.

Lyra fell as she held her hand bleeding from the girl's grip.

As the girl faded as she walked towards the shroud of shadows, the space began to light up with voices being heard from afar.

"lyra!.. Lyra!!.. LYRAA!"

As the sound became normal Lyra woke up and saw Alexander and Serene's worried faces. She stood upright as her tears fell from her eyes dripping down her cheek.

'GOODNESS ARE YOU OKAY SWEETIE?!' Serene asked in worry.

She sobbed beside Serene, hugging her tight as her head felt scarred. She knew there was something wrong, and that she's part of the cause.

'Lyra are you okay??' Alexander also added in worry.

Lyra continued sobbing.

'From the looks of it, Something went through Lyra, we should go tell Ms. Dahlia.' Alexander suggested.

'Help me carry her' Alexander requested to Serene as she also agreed.

[Ms. Dahlia's Pov]

'Gosh, of course at the beginning of the school year there would be this many paper works…' Dahlia groaned.

(Oh this one is the student folders..)

'Let's see.. Hmm Quite a selection of talented students, this year may be one of the best ones.' Dahlia said.

'Oh here, Lyra Avalon.. Such a blessed student, however, her family doesn't really have a magical background..' She said while flipping through Lyra's student folder.

'Her grandparents are flower shop owners, and her parents are nowhere to be mentioned..' Dahlia said.

(It also seems that she wasn't born here..)

'Avalon.. such a familiar name. Last time I've heard a similar name was back when I was still a student. Are they related somehow? Though I hope not, not after-' Dahlia said as she was interrupted by loud knocking outside her door.

"Ms. Dahlia!! Help, Lyra is unwell!!" Serene Shouted.

As Dahlia opened the door she was stunned as she saw a pale Lyra with eyes filled with dread.

'Oh dear!! Come in come in!' Dahlia said.

They quickly laid Lyra atop Dahlia's sofa as Dahlia quickly grabbed towels and tea for Lyra to drink.

'Here darling drink some tea. Alexander, Serene, mind explaining what is happening??' Dahlia asked in worry.

'We don't know miss.' Serene said.

'She just suddenly passed out when we were talking in the garden.' Alexander explained.

'When she woke up, she was sweating and crying like she was shown something she didn't want to see.' Serene added.

'Let's leave her here to rest, don't worry, I'll look after the little bird.' Dahlia said.

'You two go get some rest it's very late..' Dahlia added.

'Yes ma'am...' Serene and Alexander said in unison as they were about to leave.

'We'll see you tomorrow Lyra.' Serene said.

Dahlia looked at the distressed Lyra.

'Whenever you're ready dear... tell me what happened.' Dahlia said comfortingly.
