Chapter 17 - My first spell 7.2

('...Can you hear me?') Her eyes almost pop out of her face. ['Y-yes...'] I smile from ear to ear. ('It works! It really works... Ahem. Hello Sapphira, I'm Kall Sol.') She starts shivering. ['H-hello Kall Sol... What this lowly mortal can do for you, oh divine one?']

(She is already talking to me like that... 'I'm no god. Don't be mistaken by this faint sensation.') She swallows saliva. ['I'm sorry, but even if it is faint, divine mana can't be possessed by any mortal. I won't dare to be negligent in front of the Twelve in any way.']

('The twelve... Oh, I see. You think I'm a soul fragment of one of those guys?') She gasped. [T-those guys? 'I don't understand...'] I sigh. ('I'm not one of the Twelve. Is it enough for you?') ['Is this a test of some sort? If I fail for a moment...'] The black flame on her arm burst and wrapped her mouth.

('Enough. Let's do it like this then. Treat me as you see fit, and I won't do anything to you. However, I'll need your help for the time being.') She nodded energetically. The flame swayed and released her mouth.

('As you can see, this body is... frail. I want you to help me until I can walk with my own legs.') ['T-that's it?'] ('What else could it be?') ['I can be your babysitter for some years. Then, when you don't need me anymore...'] ('I like to think about the here and now. The future is the future. Now, find someone to give me milk.')

...

Elf forest, a nameless Village near the Tree of Whispers.

The forest heart. Tall trees with houses on their thick branches. The roots were as thick as the houses. And on the ground, a blue-haired girl carrying a baby in her arms.

Elfs passing by gave her a murderous glare. [I don't blame you guys... But it hurts to be stared at like that.] The saintess is one of the symbols of the Temple, the very cause of the elf hunting decree.

('The people here sure hate you.') She stops. ['I don`t blame them. Slavery is... Something that should have never existed in the first place.'] She starts walking again.

An elderly-looking elf comes in our direction. He stops four steps away, in front of us. Gray hair and a face full of wrinkles. His green eyes show disgust. His clothes were noble-like. (The village chief probably?)

"The saintess in person! What do you need in the holy ground of the elfs, filthy human?" An aggressive tone. He had his hands on his back, and three armored guards were following him from far behind. "I..." ('Tell him that I'm an elf, and you need breast milk.') "You?" ['I can't do that! What if...'] ('There are no ifs! Just do as I say.')

"I need breast milk for this baby." The elder elf's brain stops working. Even the guards were taken aback, completely dumbfounded. "Has the saintess, perhaps, gone insane?" ['See?!'] ('And the part that I'm an elf? Are you stupid?') "Since you can't even answer this simple question I'll ask the guards to escort you..." "The baby is an elf!"

The elder squinted in disbelief. "An elf with black hair? To think that the saintess is a comedian too. I'll kindly ask, leave our forest. We don't want humans in here." She had enveloped me in a part of her robe, and just my hair could be seen. "He is an elf. Look at his ears." She moved the robe a little to show my face to the elder.

He squinted even more, but he leaned forward in curiosity. "He really is an elf... So what? This black hair is a sign of mixed blood. He is the product of rape. You don't want elfs in general, and we don't want elfs with human blood on them. You can just kill him, we don't care."

[...Humans are slowly forgetting what the Temple did in the past, but the elfs will never forget. They can't... They won't... 'What can I do now?'] ('Ask him to test my origin. I'm a pureblood.') "He is a pureblood. Even if he has black hair, he is an elf."

"Hahaha... A pure elf, with black hair?" She nodded. "Yes. Please, you just need to test him." The elder and the guards laughed even more. "Please, spare us from your hypocrisy. How many elfs pleaded for their lives? For their children, for their parents? You come to our land with some mixed blood and demand an origin test? Really?"
