Chapter 6 - Alpha Damien

Third person's POV

***

What she felt was arousal, she knew it with everything in her.

With the way moisture dampened her underwear, the way she the hair on her skin rose, making her sensitive to the slightest brush of this man's finger on her skin, the way she wanted him to touch her more, and be closer to her, she couldn't deny the arousal even if she tried.

She felt alarmed at the way her body reacted to him and she feared because it felt right and wrong at the same time.

Wrong because in the history of her sexuality, she has never felt like from just a skin contact, and the person had to be a man she wanted to get a way, a man she wanted to escape.

It took the Alpha everything he had not to claim her right then and there though.

The way her scent, her arousal filled the air and clouded his senses, it took him every last drop of his strength to keep his wolf at bay.

Closing his eyes he took a step back.

He knew he couldn't stop himself from inhaling her scent but he also knew he would do himself more good if he stepped away from her

"Where do you think you're going?" he asked with a drop in his tone as he gave them their personal space

He searched her eyes and wondered what was going through her head, he was more concerned with knowing what made her so aroused.

Because she was human, he wondered if she was feeling the bond between them like he was feeling it or if she was only physically attracted to him

Him stepping away didn't help Layla's situation though.

Her breathing was still short and shallow and she still felt like touching him but she knew better than to pursue the feeling, a feeling that didn't make her feel entirely comfortable, so she held onto the fact that she wasn't on comfortable grounds and she would do better sorting her feelings when she is in her apartment, and if things go well, maybe she would pursue other things with this man

Only if he is what he claimed to be, a gentlemen

"Home, I thought I already told you and you said it was okay" she stated, taking some steps away from him as she thought back to the question he askef

"No I didn't, I only said you are not in danger," he said emphasizing the word danger

"But doesn't that mean I can go home?" she asked, confused

She wanted to be out of his presence as soon as she could and she wanted the soon to be immediately because it was her best shot to not going back to her paranoid state and to being as comfortable as she wanted, comfortable enough to process her feelings

She had already summed it up and she could tell she wasn't in danger, but him blocking her path only made her more confused

"Excuse me is your native language not English?" he asked with a tone that sounded irritated and she was dumbfounded.

She couldn't place the reason for his harsh tone and she struggled with the imminent fear she started feeling

"How does that even matter? All I want to do is go home, you said I'm not in danger so why can't I leave?" Layla asked, her voice breaking with confusion and fear

Hearing her say the word 'home' felt like she was piercing him with a nail, and it hurt not just him but his wolf whose only thought and word since they saw her was 'Mate'.

He wondered how he was going to tell her that he was her home from then on

Both he and the wolf had been happy ever since they laid eyes on her. She looked like a gift directly from heaven.

The gift that she is

That was the only explanation he and everyone else could give as to how she was in that spot at that particular time.

They could all tell it was all the Moon Goddess's doings. The only thing he and every other person couldn't understand though, was why he was bestowed a human mate.

He especially was baffled when he realized her scent was human.

He had always cared greatly about his pack's well being and he never wanted anything more than perfect for them but a human Luna to a great Alpha's pack didn't seem strong to the ears, and it doesn't strike fear in the heart.

'What was the Moon Goddess thinking when she gave me a human mate?' he had thought as he stood guard all night beside her, watching and studying her every feature.

Her perfect symmetrical face, her well carved eyebrows, her straight nose and her full lips which formed an 'o' when she slept

Her bright blue eyes had been the first thing he saw, the one feature that told him his search had ended and the happiness he felt at that moment knew no bound

Aside the fact that the mate bond induced between them would only make him see her as nothing less than perfect, he knew he couldn't deny the fact that she is a very pretty woman, most likely in her mid-twenties and also very witty.

Anytime he thought back to about how she ran for her life after she saw the 'sea' of glowing eyes around her, he always laughed.

She would have been a very fast runner if he wasn't the best of the best.

Knowing that there was nothing he could do other than accept his fate, he decided to find the best way to break the news to her while making sure she was not shocked by it.

After all, he couldn't imagine any human with the knowledge of werewolves

He rehearsed all-night ways to bring it up but he just couldn't find the perfect way.

At a point, he got angry at the moon goddess. He hated anything that would bring him stress, especially emotionally, he preferred professionalism and less complications and his situation wasn't anything close to both

After long hours of thinking during the night, he decided to say it anyhow the situation allows, when the time comes for an explanation.

And now that the time came, he didn't know how to tell her

"No you can't," he said, or rather, his wolf said in a voice so strong and authoritative

She had to look into his eyes, she was compelled to, and the sight before her felt shocked her so much that her smart reply went back into it's source and her lost memories came rushing back in their place.

She remembered it all but the one thing that stood clearly in her mind was this man's red glowing eyes, the one she was looking at.

"Mate," she said out loud immediately she recalled what happened

Panic set into her bloodstream and she took more steps backward

'His eyes were silver moments ago' she thought as she shook her head in an attempt to be sane

"Why did you say mate?" she asked as she stared his which had turned silver

"Your eyes" she said with shaking voice

The Alpha regretted not containing his wolf better and allowing him to surface like it.

He could feel her fear radiating in high waves and he couldn't blame her despite his hurt, it was his fault.

He knew he had to calm her down as soon as soon as he could, else he might not get a chance to explain himself

"Please calm down, I'll explain everything to you, okay? You just need to calm down and not be scared," he said as calm and soothing as he could be but Layla couldn't calm down.

She couldn't help not being scared and his calming voice had no effect on her, not when her head was bursting with different scenarios.

This time, not rape, being kidnap or anything related to that.

What scared her the most was that she was now clueless of what could be her fate.

She feared because she didn't know what to make of her situation, why a man's eyes could change from silver to red and back, all within seconds, why all of their eyes glowed in the dark, why they all looked like they hated her when they saw her, why he said the word mate.

What could he be? Definitely not human because she could have sworn she saw fangs when she smiled at her that night.

She didn't want to jump into conclusions, but at the same time, she couldn't help it

'It is all my fault. All they requested for was some time to themselves and I didn't respect that. I should've stayed indoors. I should have known better than to come here, to proceed the journey when all I was feeling was fear' she thought as she shivered in fear

Seeing that she was far gone in her imaginations and she looked like she wasn't going to listen to what he had to say, he held her by the shoulders and immediately the contact jolted both of them out of their minds and into the present.

It brought them to look into each other's eyes and erased almost all the thought that had been going through their heads and despite the fact that they both wished to release themselves from the bond's grasp, either of them had no choice but to focus on the other.

"I guess I'll just have to break this to you the hard way" he said in a voice so calm Layla wondered if he was hypnotizing her

She felt calm and vulnerable. Vulnerable to his touch

"You are my soulmate, made for me by the Moon Goddess and I am Alpha Damien of Bane Pack, one of the leading and most powerful pack of the werewolf race," he said in one breath, while looking into her eyes, hoping to see what she was thinking

'He's lying' she thought

She searched his eyes to find a fault in his serious expression but she couldn't tell what was in his mind, then, she had never been been able to read him, when she tried to and even when she didn't, the only thing she could tell was that he seemed dangerous and she knew that from the constant mischief in his eyes

'He is a good actor'

"So, you're Damien," she said removing the 'absurd' title he placed before it, and Damien couldn't deny the fact that his name sounded best on her tongue.

"Yes," he breathed in relief, thinking she understood him

'Maybe she's smart after all' he thought with a smile

"And you are a supposed werewolf Alpha" she stated and Damien immediately knew she didn't believe him

"I am a Pack's Alpha," he said in his alpha voice and the surge she felt from the sound of it reverberated throughout her body

Her eyes widened in shock

She once again felt turned on. She knew it was the effect of his voice and she knew it couldn't be natural

Not after what he just said

"What just happened? What's all these?" she questioned as she tried to process everything that was happening, everything she felt, and everything that was going on

"If you had said you're an Alien and I'm your test subject, I would've believed that, but a werewolf alpha? Packs? And all that other shits you have been saying so confidently, what is that? What are you doing to me?"

Tired and confused on how to go about explaining the situation while also feeling drawn to her voice and her scent, Alpha Damien stepped out of her space and out of the room, not bothering to reply to his very confused mate.
