Chapter 17 - Chapter 16: A Change Of Perspective

I squeezed my eyes shut and covered my head as I felt my body being dragged away by a strong force.

My clothes felt a little suffocating as it clung to my body, chaffing at my skin. I slowly pried open my eyes as I saw the wolf standing above me.

It was scary but... there was something about it that gave me the same sense of security being together with Aries had.

I looked at where I was only to find the place where I had been sitting had caved in. My eyes wandered from the area and back to the wolf.

"Did you... save me?" I whispered as I glanced sheepishly at the wolf.

If I were to observe it properly, it looked like it had puffed out its chest with pride as its tail wagged furiously behind it. I know it's dangerous to touch wild animals but... something compelled me to do so.

My fingers extended towards its muzzle as it leaned into my hand. The look in its eyes reflected a sea of stars before it's warm tongue ran across my face.

"Oof! It's so rough!" I gasped as it nuzzled closer to me.

The wolf whined as it got off of me and sat across from me. Somehow it reminded me a lot of Aries. I looked down at my hands and noticed that I wasn't shaking anymore.

The threat of Aries being hurt by a dangerous animal went away just like that. If the wolf was with me, it's likely that Aries was fine. He knew the way around here. And unlike me, he knew how to take care of himself.

Still... I want to find him and check whether he was fine with my own eyes.

I know what I said... But... This... this development was uncalled for.

I sat on a plastic stool I dragged into the bathroom earlier, holding onto the shower head as warm water spewed out. The wolf was seated in front of me, panting away with a ridiculously happy look on its face. It's tail was still wagging tenaciously as the water that had got caught on it's tail splattered around.

What... am I doing?

The wolf whined again as it suddenly nuzzled me, startling me as I fell off the stool and let go of the shower head. My clothes got soaked and my hair damp from the water that rained down.

"Ah..." I glanced at the wet clothes that clung to my body and furrowed my brows.

"Geez... Who knew a wolf could act so much like a dog. It's quite cute." I chuckled as the wolf pounced on me and gave me kisses.

I ran my fingers through its damp fur as it snuggled into my shoulder. I wonder... why does it make me think of Aries? Now that I think about it... Aries gives me the impression of a large dog.

"You're quite affectionate... Unlike other wolves I've seen before. Hmm? Why are you whining?" I asked as the wolf got off of me.

"Oh... right... my arm... I'll get it checked. I'm sure you were also startled when I screamed earlier." I said as I patted its head.

"It's a little tame calling you wolf. How about a name?" I grinned as I lathered some soap onto the big wolf's fur.

"Keep it a secret between us alright? I'll call you Little Aries. You really remind me of him. But he'll be angry if he ever finds out. He's such a big baby sometimes." I laughed aloud as the wolf pawed at my chest.

I really hope Aries is alright. I hadn't heard the door opening since the time I was dragged back to the lab by the wolf. Ever since he defeated death he's been acting differently.

I wonder whether it was because of the gadget? Did it trigger something else in him other than the ears, tail and his personality difference?

As I was deep in thought, Little Aries pawed at my hand and whined. I turned towards it only to find a bubble of white.

Whoops! Maybe it was too much soap.

I rinsed away the soap as I watched Little Aries' fur glisten with the droplets of water trickling down his beautiful coat.

"What a good boy." I muttered to myself as I patted his head absentmindedly.

The wolf howled in contentment as I took him out of the bathroom to dry. As soon as I had patted him down with a towel and blew dried his fur, I stifled a laughter as Little Aries' fur had puffed up and he looked like a ball of fluff.

"J-just... pfft.... sorry.... Just stay here alright? I'll take another bath." I said as I patted his head and headed back to the bathroom.

The door was broken so it couldn't be close, but, Aries still wasn't back so I guess it was fine.

I tugged off the shirt I had on which was still slightly damp and bent to test the temperature of the water in the bathtub that I had left running after Little Aries' bath.

I draped my towel on the towel rail and took off my pants until I noticed the unwelcome peeper.

"Ah, hey! Don't sit here! Shoo! Shoo!" I gestured Little Aries to leave.

Instead he came closer and sniffed my butt. I mean this is how they greet members of their own kind but having this done to me feels embarrassing.

"N-no! Wait outside!" I frowned as I pointed outside.

Little Aries did not obey my commands and instead pounced on me, pushing me over as I fell against the bath tub.

"Hey! That's not nice!" I grumbled as I tried pushing him away.

Little Aries didn't budge. It was in a moment like this where my face paled and I realised that I might have been deceived. It was a WOLF after all.

"N-no... Stop it..." I pleaded as Little Aries nudged me in a weird area, causing me to cry out.

"I said..."

"STOP IT!" I yelled as I sprayed the water from the shower head at Little Aries. I tried to be nice but he was pushing his luck.

"OUT!" I ordered and this time it obeyed.

I sighed as I watched Little Aries leave with his tail between his legs and his ears downcast.

It was definitely a dumb idea letting a wolf into the house. But that it has been done. I'll just... await Aries' sentence when he comes home to.... home... I mean... my home!

What am I thinking about now? Uhh... Maybe I'll just uh... You know what... Perhaps the wolf bite made my thinking a little woppy. I'd better take a rabies jab just to be safe.

"Sorry for spraying you with water. But, then again. You were out of line. One more misstep and you're back to the wild again." I said as I patted Little Aries' head.

Little Aries whined and placed his head in my lap as I stroked it gently. I glanced at the front door from time to time as well as I wondered what Aries was doing that it had already been close to 2am.

Perhaps sensing my distress, Little Aries brought my phone towards me as he dropped it onto my lap and pawed at it. He whined before laying down on the floor and wagging his tail with excitement.

"Ah... Don't tell me..."

Little Aries whined as he raised his rump, the tail having a life of its own as it wagged with such ferocity.

"And I bet you want me to play that song of yours along with it right?" I sighed as I scrolled through the list of songs on the phone.

Finding the song, I clicked on it and curiously peeked at Little Aries' expression.

Ah... he really loves it...

Why would he like this song so much? Ah, who am I to question a wolf's preference?

"And... fetch!" I yelled as I tossed my phone across the carpet floor.

Maybe I should get a new phone. I swear that phone will be beyond repair if it has to suffer the excitement of Little Aries' passionate display of love everyday.

"Ah~ I'm beat. Seems like Aries is still out till now... What do I do?" I wondered as I sat in front of the front door.

Little Aries sat at the entryway as he stared at me. I didn't understand what he meant so I simply assumed he was going to wait for Aries with me.

"That guy is supposed to be here by now... Why would he stay out so long? I was supposed to keep a watchful eye on him..." I sighed as I wrapped my arms around my knees.

My eyelids grew heavier as I felt myself drifting to sleep.

No... I still have to wait for Aries... I...
