Chapter 17 - Picked Up to Be Let Down

Day after day has passed Arif and Khanza are getting closer, often exchanging stories through chat and sometimes meeting outside of school makes them closer now. However, it was a different story when they were at school, Arif seemed to keep his distance from the poor girl. Maybe because he was embarrassed if he was always teased by his friends.

"Are you really close to cupu Rif? Could it be that you like him?" His friends always ask the same thing if he finds himself greeting Khanza.

"Eh, what are you guys doing. I just want to be open with everyone, really?" Avoid Arif.

"Tumben," quipped Randra, who knew her best friend's character best. "Usually you are the coldest out of all of us."

Arif gulped his saliva, confused as to what reason to give. "Yes, now I want to change," defended Arif.

Khanza realized that hes was not like a beautiful woman in general. Trying to ignore it, he tried to respond normally. And when he was at school he also acted as if he didn't know who Arif was.

But one day. For some reason Arif picked up Khanza to take him to school together.

"Arif," Khanza was surprised when he came out of the house to find Arif with his favorite red motorbike.

"Eh Za. Em ... let's go together," he asked.

Khanza narrowed his eyes. "Um how are you?"

At first, Khanza hesitated, but because Arif had already arrived at his house. It's also not good to refuse his friend's good faith.

"Okay. I have permission from Zay first," he said. Then with Zay's permission, Khanza rode Arif's motorbike when the green light was turned on by his brother for him.

"Be careful Rif. Don't speed," said Zay.

"Okay Sis. Arif leaves first," said Arif.

The iron horse was also driven, as usual Khanza and Arif would be comfortable together. Sometimes they chatted, sometimes they laughed merrily.

"Tumben pick up what is the wind?" Investigate Khanza. Glancing through the rearview mirror, he could enjoy the beautiful sculpture from there.

"Why? Don't like me to pick you up?" .Arif also put on a flat face pretending to be sulky.

"Ish." Suddenly Khanza pinched Arif's back.

"Oh!" groaned Arif.

"That's not the case," said Khanza. "I'm just asking," he continued.

"He-he. Yes, I really want to, Za."

The motorbike entered the school area. Khanza insisted on getting off in front of the fence, but Arif continued to persist until the parking lot. As a result, they met Randra and Arif's other friends.

"Wow bro. Are you with this cute girl?" Randra suddenly pointed at Khanza, with a disdainful look. And laughter was greeted by his friends.

Looking down with her eyes closed, the little girl was already used to being underestimated. But whose heart doesn't hurt, if you look down on it like that.

"I-accidentally met on the side of the road," Arif replied. "Poor him, so I just take it."

Deg!

Like a dagger stabbed right into Khanza's heart. He, who had just looked down silently, raised his head. Staring sharply at Arif, disappointment spread throughout his soul.

"I-excuse me I-I'll go in first. th-thanks for the ride?" Khanza whispered in a trembling voice holding back the tightness in his chest. Thank you and walk away leaving Arif just like that. Gradually he heard Arif's friends who were still laughing under his breath.

Unlucky! Why do I use all lies? Khanza must be angry with me, he thought.

Silently staring at Khanza's departure, he felt guilty because he must have hurt his friend's sincere feelings. Argh! I wanted to scream as loud as I could when I saw the teary red eyes.

"Why are you looking at the cupunya like that," Randra teased, patting Arif's shoulder.

"Si... who's watching the cupu?" Still, he always avoided being looked down upon by his friends.

Not wanting to get too caught up in discussing Khanza, Arif invited his friends inside, but Aldi's notice stopped him.

"Eh Rif got a greeting from one of the cute gang members."

"Which cute gang?" asked Arif, who did not know about the rese gang at his school.

"That ... the girls most wanted at school," explained Adit.

"Who?" Arif asked again. "I don't know, I'm new here."

Randra let out a shaky breath. "So don't hang out with the cupu a lot," he teased. "That's a collection of Sony girlfriends."

"Owh. The senior who guided our MOS yesterday?" cried Arif.

"Yo'i," said Randra.

"Well, whose name is Vera, I send greetings to you, she is a beautiful person and still single," said Aldi.

Vera. Arif remembers which one. But it seems his brain only contains Khanza's face. "So they have a gang and it's called the cute gang." Ah, what a fool, which one is it, Arif thought.

"Yes. So they are the most popular gang in this school and are considered the prettiest kids because many are lining up to be their girlfriends, but the leader of the gang, Santi, of course already has our hero Sony." Adit felt like throwing up praising Sony.

"You can try the list, Rand," said Arif, because Randra usually likes the popular ones the most.

Randra also felt challenged to try to approach one of the coquettish gangs. He thought that if he could get close to them it might add to his charisma at school.

"How about we bet Rif?" challenged Rand.

"What?" Arif's feelings became uncomfortable.

"Whoever is the first to successfully date one of the cute gang members will receive a week's treatment in the canteen.

"You can try it," replied Arif, who really needed a distraction as well as entertainment.

"Me and Adit will be the judges," said Aldi.

"Okay," agreed Randra.

After agreeing on a bet, they entered their respective classes because the bell had already rung loudly.

"Later on, we will gather in the canteen, I will invite the coquettish gang," said Adit.

"OK." Randra raised her thumb.

Separated Randra and Arif entered their class together. The two of them continued to walk past the Khanza table. .Looking at each other for a while, Arif realized that the look in the poor girl's eyes was angry because of what he and his friends had done earlier.

I'm sorry Za, said Arif sincerely.

"Excuse me to sit down!"

Their gazes stopped when Dea came and made a fuss. .Pushing Randra who was in his way, the bar-girl grumbled with her shrill chatter.

"If you stand, don't get in the way of people, please!"

"Wow! Please be patient." Randra almost fell forward. "You don't have to play push and shove, can you?!" .Randra retorted because he did not accept Dea's treatment.

"You have a long way to go, you are already like a snail. So you have to push it." Suddenly sitting without guilt, Dea put the bag on the table.

"You bar girl!" Randra said as he pushed back Dea's chair.

"What are you Lizard?!" .dea suddenly got up and put her hands on her hips, but Khanza quickly pulled her back to stop the feud. If we don't prevent it, we can get home without the tom jerry fighting.

"You guys, when you meet you always fight, just like Tom Jerry," said Khanza, shaking his head.

"You fall in love with each other, then you both know how it feels," Arif added.

Randra and Dea immediately looked at each other and said at the same time

"Oh...!"

Arif just laughed listening to them and immediately sat on the seat behind Khanza.

Khanza, who was already in his seat, just sighed deeply. Taking out a book, he began to get used to the endless bickering.

"Good Morning Kids!" .cried a middle-aged man.

"Good morning sir!" Simultaneously the students in the class answered.

The lesson started because the Mathematics teacher had entered his class. Randra and Dea also sat in their respective seats.

"OK. Class president please help collect your friends' math homework and put it on your desk." The teacher patted the corner of his desk.

"Shit. I forgot," cursed Arif patting his forehead.
