Chapter 11 - The Promise

A long moment of uncomfortable silence passed by as Lady Angelica watched the kneeling young man in front of her, and at some point she has been taking deep breaths to calm herself down a little without avoiding still feeling shock after what happened.

With her eyes fixed on that young determined subject that was in front of her, she evaluated the veracity of his words and was thinking carefully about her next line of action because although she had great resentment against that sadistic subject, he also represented an opportunity.

It must be said that Lady Angelica's ability allowed her to enter the subconsciousness of people, who in a certain way were hypnotized by her gaze.

There were 3 main characteristics of this world.

The first was that the true being of a person in this place had access to all the information both conscious and subconscious and because of this reason, a person would not necessarily have to remember what had happened in that place.

The second characteristic was that if someone suffered an injury in this place then it would be reflected on the outside. If someone like Seikro lost an arm in this world, even if nothing happened outside yet once he returned to reality that arm or severed limb would be useless forever because the subconsciousness would have the idea that the arm no longer existed. For obvious reasons it can be deduced that if a person died in this place then he would also die in reality.

Finally, the third feature and one of the main reasons why Angelica had become the imperial consultant was that in this place if a person manifested his or her ability, it did not necessarily represent the level of power he or she currently had but it could be noted that the potential she had to grow in the long run was especially useful with people with mutant plasma which could not be measured using the test cube. While it was not an exact measurement at least you would have a clever idea of the future power of the people.

There was a fourth distinctive feature in that place, but this was one of the best kept secrets of the winged empire so it should not be mentioned lightly.

The main reason she was hesitating to order him to kill himself was because she had a strange feeling when she felt the manifestation of both Raiko's and Azter's power and even now that she was interacting with Seikro, all three of them had different auras but gave the impression of having incredible potential that even Lady Angelica felt her own mutant plasma being suppressed to some degree and this was a sensation she had only felt when interacting with the subconsciousness of the prince of the winged empire that was proven to possess Alpha grade energy plasma comparable to some of Omega rank.

The Omega rank was something that only existed like a title that one possesses, there are records of some titled ones classified as Alpha or even Beta but if you talk about raw power then nothing could compare to the Omega ones which were mostly found at the apex of the world but this was a special rank and naturally great power comes with a price that sometimes ended up being too great.

As she contemplated her decision, what made her doubt the most was her fidelity to the winged empire because since she was just a baby she was abandoned due to her strange condition (having only one eye) despite having coveted mutant plasma and by fate awakened her ability in the place where she had been abandoned.

As time went by she had been more and more known in the surroundings especially for her ability in discovering the truth inside of people. All this reached the ears of King Magnus who summoned her to Skycity and after knowing the depth of her ability decided to keep her close to him. It could not be said that Lady Angelica had the status of a princess but it was certain that she was considered quite close to the King with her status as an imperial consultant, making her maintain an elevated level of power and influence within the empire. Usually, the winged empire would not need more strength than it already has but now that she had the information regarding Oasis everything had changed because there was only one person who was able to summon those skeletons with a green glow in their eyes and this was one of the "Octo mortes".

The "Octo Mortes" is a group with 8 members each having a title and they are characterized by two things: Solitarily enormous power comparable to some independent empires and members of some guild having said to have a level of power that would be at the apex of the world. And the second and most important characteristic that differentiated them was the fact that each one of them was known for carrying out some atrocity on enormous scales, whether it was the destruction of an empire, killing of relevant figures or other horrifying acts had earned them a second title in addition to the personal one they had "Octo mortes" meaning eight deaths and it had simply been granted to them because everywhere those eight people go they were like a merciless reaper only leaving behind them a path of death and despair.

That army of skeletons with green glow in their eyes only belonged to the person entitled as "Infernal Beauty," one of the "Octo Mortes" which was said to have a beauty that could topple empires and if that wasn't enough had a command to an imperishable legion of horrible and violent creatures.

The Infernal Beauty was a figure that had not appeared much in the records of the world and she was associated with a dark and mysterious empire called "The Cursed Empire" which despite maintaining great power had never made important movements and have been keeping silent until the day the city of Oasis disappeared from the map forever, it was clear that the world was beginning to change in a mysterious way. So the future winged empire would need help and what better person with a potential to become an Alpha or even Omega existence?

Obviously there was a risk that this person would not reach a sufficiently relevant amount of power in time when the empire needed help (if it would ever need it) but it might not be such a bad bet. Actually, another issue needed to be considered was that if I ordered this person to stay in Skycity there could be two problems: The first was that he might not take advantage of the abundant resources because no one would show his potential if he was forced to stay in one place. The second problem was Azter. At this moment Lady Angelica definitely could not stand to feel his unpleasant Aura again and there is no assurance that there would not be any future incident occuring in Skycity with him as the center.

Biting her lips after many minutes of deep debate with herself, she forced herself to say,

"I want a promise... In return I will not take your life and the winged empire will not take repercussions for what happened here, and I will also let you take your arm back…"

And by some strange feeling Lady Angelica was sure that Seikro had a way to get that severed limb back.

"Speak please my Lady whatever you command me, I will fulfill it or die in the process. Whatever comes first," Seikro said with his righteous voice echoing throughout the place.

"I want you to promise that if in the future the winged empire encounters a calamity of some kind you will come to our aid using whatever powers that you have available."

The request surprised Seikro because why did the winged empire fear anyone in the world?

"I, Seikro swear that if at any time the winged empire encounters any problem of great magnitude, I will not hesitate for a moment to come and help as fast as I can." Seikro said

"Well then that would be all for now," said Lady Angelica as her image began to fade.

"Just let me tell you something. If anyone finds out what has happened in this place then I will not hesitate to eliminate you myself."

After mentioning those words, Seikro felt his surroundings had momentarily vibrated as if some sort of murderous intent wanted to manifest itself physically. He couldn't help but get a little nervous in that situation but he quickly pulled himself together as some tentacles of blood came out from his wounded arm and as if by magic reconnected directly with the severed arm he slashed, quickly coming back to its original position.

A few seconds passed by and the reconnected arm seemed mobile enough to form a tightly clenched fist.

Aeris was very nervous as beads of sweats were falling from his forehead making a small puddle that could be seen on the floor. It had been more than 6 hours since the interrogation had started and none of the two people in front of him gave signs of life until suddenly he noticed that Raiko was beginning to get up and a look of happiness appeared on the face of the commander Aeris.

Hi everyone.

You all are amazing, we're barely a week into our first week and we're almost at 50k views.

It seems like a dream. I couldn't thank you all enough.

One important thing is that if you are enjoying the novel it would help a lot if you could write a review, it doesn't matter if it's good or bad as long as it's honest (I'm aware that we are too few chapters in to give a complete opinion but I would still appreciate it if some of you on the other side of the screen could share your thoughts about our story with others).

Absolute gratitude
