I opened the door and she asked me to come with her. I was escorted to the office where Victor was waiting with bated breath. I walked in and he asked security who I was. They explained that I was the one that his sister Sonja spends time with here in school. He blurted that I was not the person his sister brought home for the summer holidays. They stared at him with frustration. After ten minutes of yelling, they concluded that he was tripping and took him to prison. The headmistress apologized profusely and asked me to get ready. The military demands that we evacuate the place. I agreed and ran to the dormitory at human speed. Cain was amused by my attempt to integrate with the humans. He gave a light chuckle as I ran past him.
The girls were waiting with fear that I was taken away. When I walked in they sighed in relief. I only managed to say that Victor paid me a visit and Sonja exploded. She took time to calm down. When she stopped screaming I explained that he was shocked that I didn't look like I did when I stayed with her. I tried to imitate his expression. She burst out laughing. So did the others. They quickly dressed in the outfits I told them to. We packed water bottles and food as well. Then I packed the rest of our belongings into travel bags knowing they will be lost in the matrix.
We were told to go single file to the buses where we will be escorted to Ravencroft Academy's sister academy called Windsor. We saw the brochure. It looks like a place where royalty would fit right in. As we walked to the cars, Alice's mom showed up and took her away. She was the first responder and she didn't want her daughter to go to a place that will take her forever to reach. She took her stuff and drove off. I knew it would be the last time I will see her. We waved as she left. She was scared too but she knew if she said anything then I would be gunned down so she left quietly.
We sat in the limousine and watched as the military walked in with their equipment. They declared this place is henceforth be known as Delta HQ. I shook my head at how they just walked in like the place was written in their grandma's Will. They started to set stuff as if they will be here forever. The driver started the engine and took off to the path that leads to Windsor. I joked that it would be fun if we go there and be told that we should go elsewhere. The others nod their head. Cain was sitting next to the driver. I saw him shake his head to say that won't happen. I rested my head on the pane of glass and sensed the path the drivers were taking.
They drove for eight hours and we took a break. People were plundering whatever was available. We saw people fighting over food. One man pulled out a gun to threaten a man protecting a young girl with short blonde hair. They were arguing over a can of peas. I asked the police officer to stop it before he commits murder. He brushed me off. I couldn't let it go so I pulled the gun from the guy and kicked him in the gut. Both father and daughter thanked me and ran as fast as they could. Cain came over and dragged me back to my car. He made it clear not to make a scene.
Soon we drove off in the direction of our new school. The gates looked foreboding. The headmaster Peters allowed the army to test us once and made it clear that if we are vampires or werewolves now we won't be in the future. The reason is the school follows such strict guidelines that it is impossible for outside contact for at least a year. He made clear so that he can stop them from coming back to perform bogus inspections. This infuriated them but they had no choice.
They angrily watched as we obliged them one last time. We were hosed and waited ten minutes instead of the previous twenty to thirty minutes. The entire time the seniors were glaring at the army wondering how to get back at them for their atrocities. They saw that the governor was there so their expressions turned nasty. Meanwhile, some officials of the army were otherwise engaged. They looked at the place with admiration. When we were cleared to go to our rooms, Robbie is one of the students in my class approached the governor cautiously. He complained a lot and Mr. Fleming got pissed. When they were done chatting. The governor turned to face the general and made it clear to him that they can't have either Windsor or Ravencroft Academy as one of their posts. The place was a stopover. The schools for the influential are off-limits. They made these places like this to keep the riffraff away. Not to welcome them. The general was about to start swearing badly when the governor turned to us and politely declared that he will send us back as soon as he possibly can and that there is no cause for concern. The balding man looked like he was slapped, flogged, kicked and shot at the exact same time.
We got settled in our new rooms and we head straight to the library. While the others sat down with a novel or with books based on real-life events I sat down with a book on human anatomy. I read about the parts of the body that are vulnerable to an attack. I looked up to see Cain staring at me with amusement. I gave him a nervous smile and continued reading. He sat down and explained that points to attack if I am assaulted. I smiled and whispered, "Thanks" He gave me a nod and left.
I followed him and asked him what I was. I asked to know more about his world and he said that there are no words so I asked for a few drops of his blood so I can see. He smiled at me and obliged. He said he acquired both vials with a lot of difficulty. I was made from the venom and blood of two different types of hybrids. He had made two other people into hybrids. His brethrens saw the potential and decided to break the rules. He only did this to stop the war that both sides were waging. The others were troublesome so he decided that he will get rid of it and somehow I ended up with it. Because the man whose blood allowed me to be this thing has been turned so now his blood will not enhance even a werewolf. For humans the blood of hybrid is poison. One drop is acidic enough to dissolve them so be careful. I asked him if it was possible for me to turn someone without feeding them my blood and he smiled. He said that I should let someone else bite the person since my venom can't change anyone. The bite will cause an endorphin rush but it won't transform anyone. I was relieved to know that my bite was sterile. I told him that I am trying to stop myself from drinking blood every day. Right now the best I can do is stay a week without blood. This seemed to impress him since the other hybrids he had made can only survive without eight to nine hours. He applauded my brilliance and left to check with security.
