Chapter 18 - My New Pet

"Wow, what a beautiful girl you are. What's your name?" the lady among them asked, I was terrified by their all-black attire. They looked like serial killers.

"I'm Nancy, we moved here not too long ago," I introduce myself.

"You are Nancy the new girl? How is your family?" she asked.

"Good ma'am."

"That's fine. I'm Maris and my husband Bismarck. We're the Collins oh yeah meet my sons Sylvester and Randy. Say hi boys" she whispered.

Finally, I met the last powerful family in this town.

"Nice to meet you, girl. I suggest you go home and don't walk so late at night in the woods. It's not safe," he cautions.

"You can run into wild beasts you know," it was hard to see his face in the twilight.

"Yes, please. I was just heading back," I informed,

"That's good, see you around little girl," they wave and turn their back to leave. They were carrying weapons.

"You too sir," were they hunting. Who hunts this late at night and what are they hunting for. That was strange I remember Betty telling me about them. Sylvester and Randy have little sisters Nikki and Nora who are 10 years old. I'm yet to meet them.

I was walking back when I heard something wailing in pain. Took a few more steps closer but it wasn't moving. I was scared, I wanted to run but then I couldn't. I felt sorry and wanted to help.

As much as I was shivering I walked close and spotted a wounded animal that had a sharp arrow shot in between its ribs.

It was groaning in pain. It was half dead, I turned on my phone light to have a closer look. It moved and attempted to attack me.

I moved back, stepped on a stick, and fell. He howled at me slowly but I was brave and kept walking toward him.

"I just want to help, so relax let me get the arrow out," I said and it was still as I took off the pierced arrows.

It moaned in pain as I pulled the arrow out. It's a cute wolf. I must be crazy there is no such thing as a cute-looking wolf.

It would have attacked me if it wasn't badly wounded.

It was a big one I couldn't carry it home to treat the wound. It's good that I learned a few portions from Roland it came in handy.

I run home to mix up some herbs to make a portion that treats all kinds of poisons, 'I hope that's true, Roland, or else you're so dead.' I whispered as I tried to apply the medicine to the wounds.

It was restless and reluctant for a while. It sounds stupid and strange that I'm talking to him and it calms down. I applied the medicine hoping it would work.

It was still moaning in pain.

It's not working, what should I do? I can't leave you here alone. You might die or could be attacked again.

You also can't walk and I can't carry you, "Listen wolf can you move a little, my house is just over there," why am I even talking to him as if he can hear me? I got a better idea.

I dove the car closer to the woods and have it crawl into it.

I must be crazy having a wolf in my house. But it looked so trained that it heard my voice I made a little bed for it and had it lay down while I spent the entire night cleaning the blood-stained in the car.

It's a good thing mum and dad are out of town. They would have freaked out.

In the morning while about to have breakfast I checked on my wolf and it was still lying down peacefully. I couldn't help but run my hands through its fur and it was awakened and jumped on its feet.

"Wow, it feels good to know you are okay, now run along. You won't attack your savior right?"

"I technically saved you last night," It kept coming closer, now I'm scared and regret my decision.

I fell on the couch as it jumped on me. I stretched my hand forward, he drew closer and cuddled it. How cute.

"Hmmm, what should I call you? Don't even know if you are a she-wolf or a male wolf who cares? You are a wolf and from now on you will be 'Wolfe' my new pet. Tell me, do you like your name? it would have been great if you could actually hear me." I whispered as I poured myself some juice.
