Chapter 1 - The End

In the tallest building in the city a man was watching the empty streets below him. This man was Dean. A slim face, lean body and pale white skin. Adorned with a stylish black trench coat. Any passerby would mistake him for an idol.

Dean had no goals in life, ever since his parents died in an accident when he was in highschool, leaving him with a good sum of money. He started to distance himself from the outside world and rarely interacted with others.

He was once one of the most popular students at school, because of his looks, good grades and calm demeanor. Many girls would whisper about him and nickname him lonely prince, hiding their blushing checks, while the boys would joke around with him about how many girls had a crush on him while trying to see if he could get them a date with one of the girls.

After his parent's accident though he stopped going to school and stopped talking to his friends and relatives. He became interested in anime, manga and novels. He was now 23 who often spent time thinking about being isekai'd and imagining how he would act if he took the role of the MC. He became an otaku.

He didn't like how gullible most shonen MC's acted, or how they acted on their feelings most of the time and gained a mysterious boost of power by screaming managing to defeat the villain who spent their lives planning only to be beaten by someone with less than a years worth of experience. It was stupid compared to how Dean thought. If the MC didn't act like a child and learnt how to use their power efficiently before making an enemy, a lot of trouble could've been avoided. Especially if a love interest was involved in the story.

If Dean had powers, he would act ruthless and make sure that his enemies don't ever get the chance to backstab him coming back more powerful. He just wanted to be the strongest and train his way to the top. He didn't care about woman and thought it was dumb if one didn't have the strength to protect what was theirs, because in the face of power what could they do? Submit or die.

Unlike in normal society where relationships with people usually dictates your position in power, he wanted power that came from himself. Something that would grow with him. That was impossible though in this world, which was why he liked imagining himself in different stories.

He had tried learning martial arts a couple times in his house. Following guides of Xianxia novels about cultivation and sword arts. Though he didn't manage to start his cultivation journey he did end up making a fitness regime that kept his body well built.

Munching on a chocolate bar he took from a box, he continued looking at the empty streets down below.

"Sigh… maybe I should've grabbed some of my other favourite snacks to watch the end of the world"

Two days ago the governments of every nation announced that the world was ending. Every channel on TV, every website on the internet and all other forms of broadcasts played the same message. That a blackhole had appeared outside the solar system and was constantly pulling everything towards it. They announced that it was estimated that there was less than 48 hours till the end and that people should spend the remaining time with those they love.

Most people didn't believe it at first, but the next day chunks of Earth were disappearing as well as appearing in other places in the world. Water started to flood Egypt, the Mariana trench was now as dry as Mars, Antarctica now had a dense forest and mountains such as Mt Everest were flatter than Rushia.

That was why the streets were empty. People decided to spend the remaining time with their family and loved ones. Crimes were almost non-existent, why would people decide to spend the remaining time stealing things when everything was going to end.

Dean had no one like that to spend the remaining time with. So he walked to a random super market and filled a cart with his favourite chocolate and drinks. He also wanted a good view to watch the end, so he went to the tallest building and entered. The building was a newly renovated 5 star hotel that was just about to have its grand opening. It was clear to say that no one was guarding the building.

The room was luxurious and something Dean would never had been able to afford, he was glad to be able to watch the worlds end in comfort and not his tiny apartment room.

Snacking on his favorite dark chocolate and energy drinks Dean waited.

"I guess I do regret not being able to know what the Pirate King's treasure was…hopefully it wasn't something like "It was the journey we took to get here" or "friendship", that would've just left a sour taste in my mouth"

"Sigh…I also wish the internet wasn't down so I could read a novel or something"

"Thinking back I don't really have anything else to do besides that, I wish I had the chance to gain overwhelming power to be able to stop anything that gets in my way, even this black hole would have to bend to my will"

"Hahaha, the power to be able to leave this world and seek strength. Facing those that oppose me, training my powers and becoming an existence that others would only be able to dream of reaching"

After some time of reminiscing and fantasizing, the world started to shake.

Looking outside the window and into the sky Dean was able to see a ball of total darkness. The ball wasn't big but the surrounding energy made it look unfathomably large. It was slowly pulling in the Moon while Dean stared wide eyed at the once in a lifetime spectacle, unable to look away.

The ocean started to act erratically, gravity started to slowly change and animals were restless, birds started diving downwards killing themselves, cats tried tearing through the ground breaking their claws and elephants tried bashing the ground with their trunks. Families in their homes were cuddling and crying with one another, while devotees prayed to their gods for salvation.

Screams and fearful shouts could be heard coming from everywhere near the street, but Dean didn't even budge nor blinked. He just focused entirely on the ball of darkness.

Unbeknown to him, a dark ring was slowly forming around his iris.

The world was engulfed in darkness…

The world had ended…
