The next day as the twins were taking their afternoon nap, Tang Ning was in her room having her own time. After speaking to her father, she called Moyu's number after much contemplation but she didn't answer.
When she called Daiyu, she picked up and informed her that she was very busy at the hospital. Left with nothing to do, she laid on the bed and closed her eyes in hopes of taking a nap. But the next moment, she heard a knock on the door and she thought that it might be little Huan. "Come in," she said looking at the door and when it opened, a maid came in. "Ms Tang Ning, the young master needs to speak with you in the main study room," she spoke and Tang Ning sat up immediately. "Me?" she asked. "Yes please," she replied and Tang Ning swallowed.
She couldn't believe that the maid had reported her yet it was just a mistake. She immediately got off the bed and asked," Where is that place?" "I will take you there," she answered. "Will you give me a few minutes?" she asked and the maid nodded before saying," I will be standing outside your room." Tang Ning ran to the bathroom and she washed her face with cold water.
She was sweating at the thought of losing her job. Realizing that she was making her punishment severe by making her boss wait, she rushed out of the bathroom before leaving the room.
"It is this one," said the maid pointing at a certain door and she later left. Tang Ning raised her shaking hand and she knocked on the door. "Come in," she heard and she took a deep breath before touching the knob and turned it to open the door. Stepping inside, she caught sight of him sitting behind his desk with some documents in his hands.
"Have a seat," he said pointing towards the seat in front of him and she came to sit.
He looked at her and asked," How are you doing?" "I am doing great Mr Jing Yue," she replied. He looked to be calm but she couldn't tell if he was really feeling the same way. Before he could say anything, she decided to beat him to it," I'm so sorry Mr Jing Yue." "For what?" he asked looking at her and she perceived him to be mocking her. "I promise that I didn't have any ill intentions. We were playing hide and seek with the twins and I didn't know that the room was forbidden. I just looked, I didn't do anything else," she said and his eyes narrowed at her.
"You were inside my wife's room?" he asked and her eyes widened. Did she just report herself? "I-I didn't know. I'm so sorry please don't fire me," she pleaded and she later saw him pick an envelope before getting out a picture then gave it to her. Looking at it, it was Moyu. "Is she your sister?" he asked.
"Yes Mr Jing Yue," she said. He handed her another picture in which she was with a group of people where they were doing horrible things. By the looks of it, they were smoking something and she couldn't tell if they were drugs or something else.
"Are those the type of people your sister hangs out with?" he asked. "Yes," she replied albeit she was embarrassed to admit.
"I find it risky to have you work here. Who knows what your sister may come up with? She may think of something which in turn might endanger my kids," he spoke and she lowered her eyes. She took a while to say," I really understand your concern Mr Jing Yue but I really need this job. I have to take care of my sick father and to also go back to school. I tried talking to my sister several times but she failed to understand."
"What was your previous job?" he asked.
"I worked as a cashier at a cafeteria," she answered. "Why did you leave?" he asked.
"It is because... my boss was not a good person," she spoke. "What do you mean?"
"He, uh, he tried his advances on me and when I rejected him, he asked me to choose between the job or resigning. And of course, I chose the latter." "I will tell you something that I usually don't talk about," he said and she became more attentive. "When I lost my wife, my whole world crumbled down. Our kids are the only thing that keep me going, my last thread of hope. If anything was to happen to them, I don't think I would be forgiving on it," he said. "I completely understand Mr Jing Yue and I would never expose them to any form of danger. You have my word on that," she assured.
"Alright. Considering that they are fond of you and that you have a lot of responsibilities to take care of, I will give you a chance." "Thank you so much Mr Jing Yue," she replied. "That is all for now. You can take your leave," he said and she stood up to go when she heard him ask," What is wrong with your father." "Diabetes and high blood pressure," she replied and he nodded.
He had just found out that her mother died while giving birth to her which made her the same as his kids and that, she always took full responsibility for the house yet she was the young one. He decided to give her a chance as she seemed capable.
As Tang Ning went back to her room, she was cursing her sister for almost messing up her life. She nearly lost her new job because of her.
Entering her room, she closed the door behind her and went to sit on the bed.
She then released a frustrated sigh before throwing herself to lay on the bed.
She remembered the grand piano she saw and she took a mental note to ask the butler if it was forbidden too.
