Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 Before I get to decide

Most of the time, Jing Yue cared for her more than her twin brother because she was not as healthy as him. Initially during the time of their birth, they were supposed to be triplets. The boy was born healthy while one of the girls died. The other girl was little Huan who was born a premature and she had to spend a few weeks in the incubator. Since then, the state of her health was not good and he tried much to give her everything she wanted. There were times he wondered if Liling was proud or disappointed in the way he had raised them.

He turned to look at her and wondered if she was sleeping, so that he could leave. But before he could do anything, he heard her call," Daddy."

"En," he answered. "When is Mommy coming back?" he heard her ask. For a moment he was silent because he didn't know how to answer that question. What was he supposed to tell her? Before he could come up with anything, she added," Aunt Fang told us that she is in heaven and that she will come back." A while later, he said,"I don't know." "Do you think she will ever come back? I have a lot of things to tell her," he heard her say. "Why don't you tell me instead?" he asked. "Because, I don't want to trouble you. You have a lot of things to do at work," she said. "But you come first Huan Huan. Tell me," he said as his hands continued to massage her scalp.

"I want to tell her about the children that bully Juan Juan and I at school that we don't have a mommy," she said and he frowned. The kids do that? He realized that he had to do something about it. "And what else?" he asked. "To tell her that...." she didn't complete her statement as she was stolen by sleep.

After tucking her in the bed, he dimmed the lights and kissed her forehead before leaving the room and closed the door behind him.

Walking in the corridor, he glanced at his son's room which was next to his daughter's and the same thing was happening. The lights of his room were still on and he turned to check what he was still doing.

Opening the door, he looked inside and didn't spot him.

He entered and walked to the little man's study where he found him sitting with a book in his hand. "Juan," he called and he raised his eyes to see his father. He immediately closed the book and smiled as though caught in the act.

He went closer and got the book from his hands," What are you doing awake this late?"

Seeing the book, he realized that it was about cooking and different recipes. It seems like the little man loved to cook, just like his mother.

"I didn't have sleep," he said in his defense. "You have school tomorrow," he reminded him. "Tomorrow is weekend daddy," he reminded him too. "Oh," he said, slightly ashamed that he didn't remember that.

"Even then. You're supposed to be in bed," he said placing the book on the table and little Juan stood up stretching his limbs.

After making sure that he was tucked in bed, he was yet to leave when the little man said," Daddy, are you going to be busy tomorrow?"

"What do you want?" he asked. "I wanted you to come with us to the park," he said. "I would love to but I have a very important meeting tomorrow. But aunt Fang will be there with you," he said and he nodded.

Leaving the room, he walked towards his own room and before he could get in, he looked at the next one and decided to check it first.

He opened the door and stood at the door way for a while before getting in.

He looked at the room which used to be his and his wife. He had left everything untouched where nobody was allowed to go in the room in an attempt to keep the memories in it.

His gaze fell on the bed and everything in the room before walking to the closet.

All her clothes and stuff were still intact and he was glad that a faint trace of her scent was still there.

Going back to the room, he sat on the edge of the bed and breathed out deeply. His eyes took in their pictures that were hanging on the walls of the room.

After the death of his wife, he had resorted to extreme working in an attempt to keep his mind occupied. He remembered the last day she left this room. She was going to shop for the baby things with her best friend and he couldn't forget the excitement she was. Little did he know that she wasn't coming back home.

A long while later, he left the room and went to his own, then had a shower and went to bed.

In the morning, the four sat at the dining table as they had their breakfast. "Daddy, why don't you come with us at the park?" little Huan asked looking at him hopefully with her big eyes. "I can't Huan Huan. Daddy is very busy today," he said. She pursed her lips and continued with her food. She knew that if she insisted a little, he would agree but she decided to be an understanding child and let her father go to work.

After the breakfast, Jing Yue had to leave but not before saying," Huan Huan, behave and don't wander off like last time at the mall okay?" "En. Huan Huan will behave," she promised. "Ah young master, about the new nanny," Ms Fang reminded him before he could leave the house. "Oh. About that, how many aspirants do we have?" he asked. "They are four but among them, there's this young miss that helped little Huan at the mall. I was thinking that it's better if we choose her since little Huan also seems to like her," she explained. "Yes daddy. Let's choose the pretty auntie," said Huan as she tugged on his hand, her neck craned so that she could look at him.

He gave it a thought before saying," Tell her to come by tomorrow. I will have to first see her before I get to decide." "Alright then Young Master," she said before getting the little girl's hand so that she could let him leave.
