I woke up in pain once again, my head ached from the party last night and I had no clue what was going on around me. It was... bright, but my room was dark. I almost reached out to feel the wall before my eyes finally adjusted.
I could see the bumps of my wall, painted dark purple, with posters covering the walls, and the curtains nearby still covering my window. This was going to hurt my eyes, but I was going to see the sun anyway.
I opened the curtains with one quick movement and looked outside, as expected, my eyes burned and I had to hold my eyes open for a moment to get used to it. When my eyes adjusted, I could see Clive's window across from mine. His curtains were still closed, which was strange since he usually had it open before I had mine open every morning.
I decided to go over to his house after getting dressed and eating. I slipped out my front door and stared at the clouds for a moment. The heat hit my face and I smiled, listening to the birds chirping and the trees wavering in the wind.
"Oh shit." I said, remembering what I came outside to do. I skipped over to Clive's door and knocked, like I was playing an instrument.
Moments of silence... and then more... and then some more.
Hm. He... wasn't coming? Perhaps he wasn't home. His dad was probably at work and he was probably at the park reading or something.
I returned home, wondering.
Another thing that crossed my mind often, why did Clive look at Rodo like that? The same way he looked at Victor? During the school year, he... just seemed distracted by Rodo. He even said that he learned some things about how Rodo was talking to someone online, but he didn't know who. What did that matter if Rodo talked to someone online? Does Clive... love Rodo?
My thought was interrupted by my mom coming downstairs as I returned home. I told her where I had been and began doing some things around the house, mostly waiting for Clive to text me back. I finished all of the work I had and returned to my room, it was almost getting dark outside. I had been working all day it seemed. I darkened the room once again, closing the curtains and slipping on my VR headset, and lay on my bed. It looked so realistic, as usual. Clive was offline, like he said, he didn't play games often.
He was not my only friend online however, I had another friend, who was quite kind. She and I met during a hangout with me and Clive last summer in a game world, mainly one that is a cafe area where you can drink coffee and tea. She came up to us and sat down, and even began talking to us.
I looked below at my friend's list and saw a new feature.
"Recommended Friends"
I looked down and the first one was... Rodo? He seemed to be in some kind of game world of a huge city. He was playing with someone under the name... "Bl_ue."
I joined the world on impulse. I looked around the city until I heard someone talking above me. I could see a ladder and I slowly and quietly climbed it, peeking over the ledge of the top, and I could see Rodo, looking like he does in real life and another person... with the username of "Bl_ue".
I tried to listen to their conversation, but they must have started an in-game private chat, since their mouths were moving, but they weren't making any noise.
So I did what I could and... deciphered their lip movements. Rodo was saying something about... school, and this "Bl_ue" person was talking about... creative writing? No... that couldn't be right... I don't think that's it... I couldn't decipher anything else and decided to leave. There was no way I would decipher it, and if the conversation was about school, there would be no reason to talk about it. Maybe I should tell Clive about Bl_ue.
But how do I do that? What if he does like Rodo?
He'd be crushed again. Just like... with what happened with Victor.
