Chereads / His Moonlight / Chapter 26 - One room left

Chapter 26 - One room left

'Why is he leaning closer?!' She unconsciously closes her eyes, thinking he might be trying to kiss her, and despite the rational side of her mind telling her that she shouldn't let him and just slap him, her instincts tell her to let him. Lune opens her eyes when her lips feels a finger, and she pouts a little when Chilve is just wiping the finger he used to touched her with a cloth, "there's something on your mouth."

"Oh, thanks," disappointment is heavy in her tone, and he jokingly asks, "what, do you think I will kiss you?"

"Aren't you the one that wanted me to kiss you earlier?"

"Regret that you didn't take my offer? Too bad, I'm not going to do anything, for now."

Luckily for Lune, Jane chooses this time to interrupt them, "Lune! We just got your license ready! Remember to keep this well, and whenever there's anything, don't hesitate to use it."

"Remind me what's the advantage of having this license?" Jane smiles and turns on her explanation mode, "First, you can visit places that are not safe for the common like dungeons or areas that are full of beasts. Secondly, you get discounts in most shops you go to. Thirdly, you won't be charged for a medical fee if you get yourself hurt on the job," the blonde nods and she keeps her license safely, and Chilve waves her off, "you can go and continue your job."

"At least I should get a quick thanks, don't I?"

Before Chilve can argue with her, Lune quickly says, "thanks a lot for the help Jane. I know you don't really get paid much for your job scope."

"See? Finally someone that understands me! Lune, don't hesitate to ask for my help, I will do my best."

Once Jane is out of sight, Chilve suddenly says, "do you want to surprise your brother?"

"How do I even do that? I can't track him or something like that," she complains inwardly about how the technology in this world doesn't have something like a gps, and when Chilve takes a map out, he spreads it on the table and says after observing, "what's your brother's full name again?"

"Do I really have to reveal that?" he nods at her question and she just sighs, "Sol Lumiere."

He seems to be squinting again at the map and he finally points at somewhere, "he looks like he is exploring the dungeon just north of here. Interested?"

"Wait, how do you eve-" she stares at where he pointed and she sees the name Sol Lumiere moving around at the same spot, "how do you-? This is some sort of enchanted map?"

"Yeah, I got it as compensation when someone doesn't pay what he owes me," he keeps the map and smirks, "you just need to think of the person and his full name, then you can see them. It's limited to this kingdom though."

'This is cooler than a gps!' Her eyes glint under the setting sun that is shining from the window, "let me try this out."

Without any resistance, he passes it to her and she spreads it carefully, then she thinks of her own name and sees herself in the spot with adventurers guild written on top, "I'm really here!"

"Don't tell me you're going to keep watching this and walk around places."

"Can't I?" He grimaces from the thought of her focusing on the map instead of the real world for her experience, and he takes it out from her hands, "I'm not letting you. Besides, you wanted to be an adventurer. You should see the real world instead of being stuck on reading the map."

"Fine, spoilsport. You are no fun when it comes to things like this."

"And you haven't told me what you wanted to do yet? Or we can call it a day and find somewhere to crash in," he checks his waist belt and holds his coin pouch before saying, "we can sleep in a nice place tonight. I have some money to spare anyway."

"What nice place do you recommend?"

When he is quiet for a few moments instead of answering her immediately, she found the one thing he doesn't know, "and here I thought you're well versed in everything."

"I used to sleep in the wild, and I'm not familiar with this area yet."

So finally they asked Jane about where to get lodgings, and after her quick direction, they bid farewell to her and starts moving, and when they reach the inn which seems to look really clean without any bad smell around, the reception checks the rooms and shakes his head, "I'm sorry, but I only have one room available."

"Wait, what-" before Lune can protest, Chilve places a few gold coins on the counter and nods, "we will take it, no worries."

"No worries? I'm not sharing a room with you," it's already awkward to be going on an adventure with your so-called soulmate, and what will happen if they are in an enclosed space for the whole night, "relax, you can have the bed. I have something to do anyway."

"You don't have to rest or sleep? I thought that's what a vampire does."

"What's a vampire?" She looked for any hints of a joke on his face but found none, "wait, you don't know what a vampire is?"

"I never heard of it. Is it a type of magical beast?"

"Whatever happened to vampires and werewolves war or something?"

"Is there such a thing?"

Their conversation is stopped when the reception clears his throat, "if there's nothing else, please do not stay at the lobby for too long."

Once they entered the room, Chilve puts down his stuff and takes the bare minimum, and waves at Lune at the door, "see you tomorrow morning. I have something to handle before sunrise."

She yawns after lying on the bed and waves lazily, "good night Chilve."

He exits the inn and when he enters back the building his pack is using for rest, Ford appears and he asks, "are you done for the day?"

"Yes. Bring me my coat, I will be going to meet that idiot alpha right now."
