Chapter 3 - Welcome To Darkfall

"Leave you? The thought alone is enough to cause my heart to ache" Darien said with sincere sadness echoing in his voice.

"My little Riley nothing you do could ever stop me from wanting you and if someone were to forcefully take you away I would gladly rip their throats out. I'll never leave you Riley" he said looking me straight in the eyes.

A silent gasp left my lips as I looked at Darien and nodded "okay" I said and hugged him. We stayed like that until my eyelids got heavy and sleep came.

In truth Darien had just met Riley and this was rather unusual for the demon lord that was known to not show any emotion. Nevertheless there was no denying the fact that Darien had grown protective of the small boy in his arms.

From the moment his eyes fell on the beautiful boy surrounded by burning flames his heart skipped a beat.

Darien gazed lovingly at the small beauty in his arms and his wings surrounded the boy in an embrace.

•••••

Ding! Ding! Ding!

With sleepy eyes Riley glanced around to find the source of the loud alarm. It was a golden clock that had a bell on it.

"Mmm just a few more minutes and then I'll be—" the boy fell asleep before he could finish his statement.

With a devilish grin Darien lifted the boy and with just a flick of his fingers they were in the bathroom where he threw the boy in the big tub of cold water.

"Ahhh.." he let out a surprised scream to Darien's great pleasure.

"Today is orientation my beloved son and you will be attending."

"Dad..this water is so cold and I was going to get up you didn't need to throw me in the bathtub you know" I said looking at him with a pout.

" Oh really?" He asked with disbelief. I bit my lip refusing to answer.

Once I was finished bathing I was then clothed in my school uniform which was a brilliant blue. Then I ate until finally it was time to leave for demon school Darkfall.

"Riley shall we fly today?" He asked and the way my eyes twinkled brightly was all the answer he needed.

"Ha Hah Hah Hah" my laughter rang through the morning sky as I relished the feel of the cool breeze brushing through my red hair.

Darien released his grip on me and I was falling to the ground at a shocking speed but I was still grinning from ear to ear. And just like that Darien swooped down to catch me from behind. We continued to play like this in midair.

"Who is that?"

"Wow…is that demon lord Darien?"

"Who is that boy with the demon lord?"

The unfamiliar voices caught Riley's attention and he glanced around. To his surprise there were hundreds of demons all flying around him. All with different color hair and eyes and some even had horns and tails of different kind and texture.

They all looked quite scary but some were extremely beautiful and it fascinated the boy. Their wings were black and equally good looking but they didn't stand a silver of a chance against Darien's gorgeous massive black wings.

"Riley welcome to demon school Darkfall" Darien said holding his son close to his chest.

Riley focused ahead as a school double the times of any school he had ever seen came into view.

"Amazing…" Riley was practically glowing as he took everything in.

With the grace and delicacy of a prince Darien descended on the school grounds. His wings enclosed around Riley like a shield.

"Lord Darien there is an important document in your office needing your urgent attention" a demon that sounds to be one of the teachers here said. I was still engulfed by black feathers that obscure my vision.

"I understand. Maxwell it has come to my attention that you will be one of the teachers involved in the first years orientation?" Darien said.

"Yes lord Darien" Maxwell replied.

"Then I would like you to escort my beloved son to the designated area. Please be warned, if any harm should befall him I will personally hold you accountable." Darien look at the demon with a dangerous darkness in those golden eyes that made sure the fellow understood the level of importance in the task given.

Maxwell was by far not a weak demon but even he had to admit the chill of the demon lord's voice shook him.

"It would be my pleasure to be of service to you" Maxwell replied.

Wait..did lord Darien just say his SON?

As if on cue Darien opened his wings to reveal a small beautiful boy with ruby red eyes and silky red hair.

If the fact that Darien had a son surprised him then the boy's natural beauty was sure to leave him comatose. He even had the rare double red.

Gasps could be heard as students, teachers and staff workers alike heard the news of demon lord Darien having a son.

"Hello my name is Riley" the boy had a sweet smile on his face as he introduced himself.

Maxwell quickly regained his composure and nodded.

"You may call me sir Maxwell, young Riley" he said as he stared at the boy.

"It's a pleasure to meet you sir Maxwell" Riley replied. Maxwell was dressed in a black suit with light green eyes and green hair. A scar ran down his left cheek and two brown horns on his head.

Darien made his wings disappear back into hiding as he knelt down to face his son. He kissed his cheek and Riley blushed from embarrassment. With a flick of his finger he made a necklace with a black pendant appear and placed it securely around Riley's neck.

"Relax Riley and believe me when I say I will always be by your side" Darien promised.

He stood up and with a final glance at Maxwell he teleported away.

"Follow me young Riley" Maxwell beckoned the boy. Riley followed but the crowd up ahead looked rather troublesome. Maxwell decided it was best to hold on to the boy's hand as to not get separated. Yet the moment he touched him he regretted it deeply for he was reluctant to ever let go.

Riley on the other hand was a cute bundle of joy. Not even the slightest bit aware of the affect he has on anyone who dares to come in contact with him.

Unbeknownst to either of them a dark aura surrounded a particular demon that set his eyes on little Riley since the moment he caught a whiff of his scent. He was keeping a close eye on the boy. Waiting for the right time to pounce.
