'What's going on out there?!'
The Rattata yelped and squeaked as she was being tossed and turned around in the human's backpack.
To start at the beginning, the Rattata found the backpack lying unattended while she was scavenging for food. She looked at the human and a rolling, laughing Pikachu by the tree and being sure that she was at the clear, opened it and and scurried in for food.
Then things started getting ugly.
Spearows started swooping in the field, some standing in front of her with backs turn and her still in the backpack.
She really didn't know what was going on, but the cries of the Pikachu is enough to make her stay inside the place.
Then her ears jolted up from a sound that can be mistaken for a small thunderclap, along with the squawks of surprise from the flock. She watched through the small gap as the Spearows in front of her flew off.
She stayed there for some seconds, then was about to make a move out....
Then things started tilting up and she felt she was being lifted.
And here she is now, struggling to climb up to the mouth of this never-seemed-to-stop-shaking carrier. Along the way, she may have not ripped two or three of the human's removable and wearable skins.
"Almost...there...!"
She finally reached the end and popped her head out.
Then was met by the human looking at her over his shoulder. A shock of surprise in his face as he was running. Carried in his arms, the Pikachu doesn't look well.
"A Rattata?" the human said, then shook his head and looked straight forward. "Never mind that. I need you to get back in the backpack now,"
Rattata glared and hissed. What made this human think she will-
"Spea-row!!"
The sound of the cry instantly sent a frightful chill through her spine and made her whip her head behind her. This made her regret her decision and shake in fear.
Fear would be an understatement in the sight of dozens upon dozens of malicious looking, terrifying, genocidal, murder-hungry looking Spearows.
'On second thought, the bag feels nicer,' her mind had spoken before going back in and zipping shut the backpack.
"Leave a small gap open for air to breathe in!" Cade yelled at the Rattata in the backpack. The situation had been changing one small detail to the next. First were the Spearow flock encounter, and now there is a Rattata in his bag which might be the same one that was trying to scavenge Ash's bag in the show.
Cade glanced down at Pikachu in his arms. The Pokémon in question was sweating a lot, clutching his undershirt with his tiny paws and having a hard time breathing. Seeing such sight worried him.
"Augh!" he yelped, almost losing his footing, when some of the Spearows managed to caught up and starts pecking and clawing him. Two have forced him to move his head down, eyes shut, and blindly running while protecting the Electric-Type in his arms.
Then his foot found no ground to step on. And his eyes snapped open as they are now falling towards the sight and sound of rushing water.
Time seemed to slowed around Cade. He shouted over the rushing sound of the river to the passenger inside and tightly hugged Pikachu with his shoulder ready to take the incoming hit. In the backpack, the Rattata had fully shut the zipper after taking a full cheek of air and braced herself for the inevitable splash.
With eyes shut tighter and mouth clamped shut, a gloved hand covering Pikachu's mouth, Cade braced himself-
A small, three-fingered paw touched his other shoulder.
*Fwip!*
And they're gone.

Misty Waterflower, an orange-haired girl with a hot-head temper, Cerulean City's Gym Leader, was minding her time at a river near Route 1 fishing for any Water-Types for her to catch. The reason why she's there was to prove her beauty-obsessed sisters that she will be a Water-Type Master.
"And how well is that progressing?" she dejectedly sighed as she have been sitting there for who knows how long. "I could use some change of plot right now,"
*Fwip!*
Unfortunately, her wish came coming down on her. And unfortunately, it came down on her in literal sense.
Misty yelped as a young boy fell on top of her, both of her and the boy were now groaning in pain for different reasons.
Cade had expected to feel the impact of the river's rushing water surface, not the impact of feeling like he crashed on top of someone.
"Hey! What's the big idea?!"
'Wait-' his eyes shot open along with what he managed to mentally say before being pushed off by the person he had unceremoniously lay on. He managed roll to a kneeling position with one hand on the ground, the other arm still holding Pikachu firmly and protectively.
At some point, the backpack had slid off the arm and to the ground. The zipper flew open and the Rattata poked half of herself out, collapsed and lets out a sigh of relief. Thank Arceus that they didn't land on water....which is odd but thankful nonetheless.
Breathing heavily from all the adrenaline, Cade took a glance down at the Electric-Type in his arm and saw a not so reassuring sight.
Pikachu looks ten times worst than before. His sweating more than before and looking like he was in pain if the Pokémon's face weren't enough of a hint.
Cade winched a little as he felt the rodent's nails puncturing the skin under the shirt. Who knew under those fuzzy paws contained pointy nails.
"Excuse me!"
Cade looked up and was met by the sight of a certain red-haired hot head looking down at him, could have sworn he saw steam coming out of her nose.
Cade have to admit, she is surely scary up close.
"Spea-row!!"
Both of them looked up just in time to see the Spearow fly away.
