Chapter 10 - To Know You-Part Two

Caden Fayte. That was the name Pikachu had learned from seeing the life this boy he's been randomly watching. The boy is currently ten years old and living with his uncle for some time since he lost his parents. Since then, the boy had picked up some interests in cooking with his uncle, martial art fighting with sturdy wooden sticks (batons as the humans called them), and so forth. But the thing he mostly love, of course, is the love for Pokémon.

Another thing he learned is that in this boy's world, Pokémon were nothing more than fictional creatures in the forms of games, cards, TV shows (the word of which he had learned some time ago), and such. Pikachu...contemplated that while the boy had saddened from knowing that tidbit of information.

But it was eased when the boy's uncle, Logan, said that Pokémon may possibly exist somewhere outside their universe. Knowing the Legendary of Time and of Space, the Electric-Type think it's possible. Maybe.

Caden or Cade for short, to say, seemed like a good kid in his opinion. Ever since the "first episode" of the rodent's and Ash's journey, life seemed to came back inside of the boy. Cade had been looking forward to every adventure the duo had gotten into. There's even multiple movies of the duo. Even more so that there are shows that starred Pikachu himself!

Okay, maybe a little over-ecstatic right there but still!

In all honest, Pikachu had started sharing some enthusiasm from the blue-eyed boy, some laughs here, angst there, some close tears over there, some groans on the other...

Well, face faulting is not what they had in common (Pikachu had learned that their human body are more prone to injuries than those in his world), but at least it elicit some giggles from the boy in every reaction on the screen.

Pikachu had seen the kid being a very energetic Pokémon fan, especially the boy's room. Cade has plushies, posters, cards, merchandises, even his own replica of Ash's hat.

It...really felt strange to Pikachu that he's starting to have a sense of fondness for Cade despite not having direct contact with him and vice versa and watching him like he's a TV show.

But the boy's smiles makes him happy. A smile he wanted to always see.

He should've seen it....

Pikachu didn't know this would happened, yet he should have.

But what can he do? He couldn't even interact with the humans...

Pikachu sat silently in a waiting hall, the emitting despair from the ten year old sitting curled with his knees up on the seat beside him had inflicted the atmosphere more than people knew.

It all happened one night after the nephew and uncle were walking out of the movie theater after seeing "Pokémon The Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened!", Cade carrying a plush of Pikachu that he brought along as other people goes along in their everyday lives.

Pikachu had some thoughtful insights of it. On one hand, it's good, but that left a lot of questions like: Are there other forgotten creatures like Genesect or clones like Mewtwo out there that are recreated or being created? Does the Mewtwo in the first movie has the same ability as the Mewtwo in the movie?

On the other, the entire movie was so cool!

But then, tragedy struck.

It was in the middle of the crosswalk. All traffic lights were red. The road is clear, save for a few cars. The nephew and uncle were happily walking on the lane.

Then a sound of a speeding car caught their attention. The aftermath left a scar soon after.

An ambulance was called quickly, but nobody, in the midst of the chaos, took notices of a young boy, sitting on the ground in sheer shock, staring at his uncle's limp body. It lay motionlessly on the path where the speeding car drove. Without stopping at the red light.

Somewhere along, the Pikachu plush had been run over and teared apart.

Now here they were, waiting in the corridor. At the far end, an Emergency Room's sign remained on. Many doctors and nurses passed by as time goes, some giving the boy a look of sympathy. Cade didn't even batted an eye on them, eyes voided of emotions and was as if in another world.

The driver was captured from what Pikachu heard, which is a small content for his side. However, it was only small. If it were to Pikachu, he would shock that guy to no end, see how they would like to taste the wrath of the electric mouse.

The sign soon blinked off.

A doctor in operation gear walked out of the room.

"Young man," the doctor called out.

That seemed to pull the boy out and he looked up to the adult. Pikachu watched behind the sidelines, ears up and open for the news.

"How's my uncle?" Cade asked, sliding off the chair to his feet and standing in front of the tall man, voice holding a small hope for his relative.

Pikachu saw the doctor closed his eyes in sadness and shook his head, already knowing what happened as the man knelt down on one knee and placed a heavy hand on the boy's shoulder.

"I'm sorry," the doctor said with guilt, "We did everything we could,"

Pikachu had his head down in despair as he hears the boy let out a heartbroken cry.

The scene soon faded, but it did nothing to get the boy's crying out of his mind. The loss of another family member must have reopened old scars within the boy. Pikachu found himself wanting to comfort the boy, but he can't. The barrier between him and the boy won't allow it.

'Just once, please,' Pikachu found himself begging, 'Let me help him, support him....'

Sense of drowsiness came over the Electric-Type as his body slowly swayed. Before everything went black, he spoke out his last thoughts.

"Let...me...know him...."
