PREPARATION
Gary did some works and left the remaining work for tomorrow because he has some serious business to do tonight . When he felt his own understanding about the world has turned upside down from this incident, he decide to see whether there is supernatural activity or not.
Soon evening arrived and Gary left to his home fast because he still have to prepare some things before setting off. Before going to home he visited to a antique shop to buy something.
When he entered the shop, the first thing he saw was a old man sitting on the cashier seat while a young lady attending the guests. Seeing him enter, the lady excused herself from the customer and came towards him with a professional smile on her face .
"Gentleman are you looking for something?"
Gary usually had a pale face which was quite unnatural and now he was emitting a cold feeling which made the lady feel apprehensive.
Gary looked at her and said in low voice
"I'm looking for a cane"
The lady gave a knowing smile and said while pointing at the right shelf on her side
"This is are the best you could find in the whole western capital city".
Gary looked at the direction where the lady pointed and saw several type of canes. He said while keeping his emotions cold and distant
"Show me the one with a meter long and slightly light weight yet made up of durable material."
The lady showed a stiff smile and said with some hesitation tone
"Sir we do have a cane like that but..."
Seeing her hesitation he frowned and said coldly
"But what?"
The lady showed a apologized look and said bitterly
"There is one cane which suits your preferences but..... The thing is that the cane head part is designed with a skull face which affects its appearance and the most important thing is the cane is quite heavy."
Gary was surprised to see the honest explanation of the lady so he softened his tone and said
" It's OK as long as it can be used then the heavy thing can be ignored ".
The lady nodded her head and went inside while saying to wait. After a minute she came back while behind her a worker brought the cane with slight difficulty.
The cane was a meter long, tan color while the head part of is a light silver in shape of a skull which had a red like eyes.
Gary took the cane easily and swung it twice simply which made the lady and worker back down in fear that would get hit.
They felt amazed that this person can easily swing the heavy cane which showed that Gary had good physical training.
Of course he is fit and strong. Before joining the Earlybird magzine he was working as a cardio trainer so his physical strength was good enough for normal people.
Satisfied with the cane he said to the lady
"Not bad. I will take this.... Aslo do you have hat?"
The lady was still in surprise seeing Gary holding the cane easily and when she heard his words she couldn't help but ask
"Which type?"
He said after pondering a while
"Black hat which has to be in a medium size"
The lady was confused why would this person ask these things and that with a own preference but due to her work rules she could only satisfy the customer.
"Yes sir we have that type of hat"
As she said she shot a signal to the worker which later understood her and hurried to the hat section.
The lady looked back at Gary and asked with a smile
"Sir do you need anything else ?"
Gary shook his head and said
"That's all pack them"
As he said he handed over the can to her which she held it heavily in fear she couldn't handle the weight she held it with both her hands.
The lady gritted her teeth and scoffed at winter while walking away. Gary was puzzled from her behavior but he didn't say anything he instead went towards the cashier and paid the bill while taking the items he left away.
Seeing him walk away the lady shook her head and said unhappily
"How can he be so thick headed to give that heavy thing to me?"
So this was the reason she was angry!
Women are indeed complicated creatures but pity Gary was not in any mood for this but instead he was planning for the tonight adventure.
"Taxi "
He took a cab and went home before going he didn't forget to grab a quick lunch since he forgot to have lunch today .
It was now close to 6 PM , still 1 hour left for sharp 8PM.
Gulping the burger in his hand , Gary casually asked the driver
"Mate anything specific happened Today ?"
The driver replied like he was already familiar with customer questions . It's expected since people ask questions to try avoiding awkwardness and others who missed the daily newspaper.
"Hmm... nothing usual except the rise of Sugar price "
Gary said in confusion
"What's special about that since the market price always goes ups and downs ?"
The driver replied lazily
"Nah...this time it's a increase of 100% "
Gary was surprised and said shaking his head
"Why what's the rise for the sudden increase?"
The driver was also not sure about this answer so he replied with unsure
"Hmm I'm aslo not sure but there is a rumour that there was sudden robbery in sugar warehouse and the police couldn't find anything at all so the Sugar availability is less now "
Gary lost interest hearing that it was just a robbery so he finished the burger in one bite and leaned towards the window , observing the surrounding .
The clouds was getting dark and he saw people hurrying to their home , same as usual but this time he felt somehow different .
He was feeling that this time something is going to happen that will change his life .
"I hope it's good change.....Sigh"
