After taking a train ride from the ball to my parent's company building, I finally arrived at the Game Studio's building. It is one of the most well-known game companies in japan. My father founded it when he was 21 and it was an instant success.
But, even though he is the CEO of this company, he rarely comes here to the office. My mother also works for the company as a secretary for my father. But similar to my father, she rarely comes here too.
They only come here to Tokyo whenever something important comes up. For example, when a game releases or when they announce a new game. They like to stay at our house in the countryside because they say it's more relaxing there. I can't believe those laid back people made a successful company...
Anyways, I am now currently standing against a high rise building containing tens of floors. I walked in the entrance and went to the elevator. As I was walking towards the elevator, I saw someone wearing our school uniform.
That's pretty weird. I thought.
It was a girl with long black hair... That probably was just some random girl in our school, whatever I guess. I don't really care enough to go find out.
I entered the elevator and went to the 25th floor where I can find someone.
After the elevator opened, I then went to a door with a sign that says "Chief Operating Officer" and opened it. I then heard a voice right after opening the door.
"Is that you, Haruki?"
"Yes, Mr. Watanabe." I said politely. Right after hearing this, the man laughed.
"hahaha, don't call me like that. Call me ken. After all, I've practically known you since you were born"
"Okay then, uncle ken."
The man In front of me is the Chief Operating Officer of this company, Watanabe Ken. We're not related by blood but, we've known each other for so long, that I eventually called him my uncle. He was my father's friend in high school and was interested in doing something related to business.
So after my father formed his company, he asked uncle Ken to come work with him in his company.
"So how was your school last month?"
Today is October 1. At the start of every month, I get my allowance. So every month I also meet my uncle. That's why he always uses these times to catch up with me.
"It was... quite unique."
"Oh, how so?" He asked while looking intrigued.
"I met this weird girl outside in the rain last week."
"Hee~, I guess your romantic school life is finally blooming huh?" He asked, looking smug.
"No, it's not like that. I'm not interested in her at all." I instantly denied his thoughts.
"That's what we all say at first. From strangers to lovers, that's how most couples meet, you know?"
"Whatever..." I said while looking annoyed. Finally, picking up on this, he frowned and said:
"And here I thought you were finally going to start dressing up to look good again after finding the love of your life. But, I guess that's not the case huh."
"Yeah, it really isn't."
"...Well, why don't you start dressing up again?"
"No thank you, I'm too lazy to do that"
"Such a shame. If you dressed up properly, you could have the looks to become a model, you know?"
"Yeah yeah sure." I took what he said as a joke.
I mean, I can probably compete with most men when it comes to looks if I dress up. But I refuse to do so. I'll just keep my bangs long so that no one can see my facial features. Why you ask? It's because I don't want for people to judge me based on my appearance. I want a genuine friend. One that would approach me not for my looks, but for my personality. That's why, although I talk a lot of trash about Ikeda as a joke, I'm happy that he became my friend. He's not like those guys from middle school...
Seeing my mood worsening, Ken decided to move on to other matters.
"*Ahem* Anyways, how's your game project going? Is it coming together well?"
"Hmm... It's going... Fairly well, I'd say. Why do you ask?"
"I see... For us, the schedule for our game is not going well. Our artists and illustrators are really behind schedule. We even decided to outsource to freelancers. We rarely outsource to freelancers because we want a lot of control in the quality, but we can't really do that right now... Well, luckily, a lot of talented illustrators agreed to work with us. But the next 2 weeks is still going to be hell for the all of us."
"I see... Good luck with that I guess."
"Yeah... Anyway, here's the allowance your father gave to me. Good luck on school, kid."
He then handed me a wallet containing my allowance for this month.
"Yes. Thank you, Mr. Ken."
"Don't worry about it"
I then left his office, then the building. And about that project he asked about...
It's actually not going well either.
