Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Aleph still overslept!

July 20th, 2019 during the early afternoon as it felt windy per the city's usual weather.

"I can't believe it's been complete weeks since a single monster has shown up!" Lyle thought to himself as he patrolled away from Artus and Ember for once, "Simple officer arrests and duties—" Lyle thought more.

From out of the blue, Lyle hears what sounded like gunfire and panic somewhere nearby, only heard because of his "enhanced hearing" addition to his helmet.

Lyle climbs over a building to get to where the chaos sounded, but when he gets around to it. He witnessed a 12 foot giant with a peanut butter complexion dressed in mint green fashion. He had a mint green sash with a sideways Diamond, shorts, shirtless and strange combat boots with thick wristbands like he wasn't from the present-day nor the nation itself. He threw a few large vehicles as a few of Generil's finest sprayed shots, some missed, he ate others but let out a low grunt.

He glares at the man, trying to come up with some viable strategy. The strategy he chooses is trying out his knife first, he realized his guns won't work since besides what they're made out of, they use the same caliber of bullets as he watched the cop's firing do barely any harm. He was optimistic his special tactical combat knife could penetrate.

The cops alongside the citizens present in the area fled, as he stood perched upon the edge of a rooftop that was close by, he grabbed out his thick bladed tactical knife from his hip and performed a side flip off the edge to make his way to the disturbance. Now Sprinting and climbing his way towards the evil, the evil noticed him approaching quickly and maliciously smiled. Lyle got the sense he wanted him to like he was telepathic.

Finally in punching range of the behemoth, the giant threw a punch, Lyle blocked it then went in deep and slashed the giant's chest then hopped towards him even closer, he flipped the giant over his shoulder, blood went everywhere.

As the giant was on the floor, Lyle tried to finish him off with one more attack but this time to his head, the giant grabbed Lyle's arm before he landed it and tossed him through a brick wall, demolishing it. The giant picked up Lyle's knife and chucked it as far as he could and with his massive strength he threw it clear from Lyle's teleportation limit.

"I am Jabez Gilda!" The giant roared with a sense of haughtiness before somehow growing some more feet in size, "BY MY MENTOR'S WILL, YOU SHALL SUFFER!" Jabez continued with a sadistic tone. Lyle felt like he was acting.

"And I don't care!" Lyle said casually, picking himself off the ground and preparing himself for another round, "He grew in size, and definitely gained more strength, so..." Lyle attempted to come up with a new plan to win but knew he had only a little bit of time until Jabez made it to him.

Jabez leaped by a certain distance planning on smashing Lyle but Lyle rolled out of the way then tossed some of the extra knives he carried knowing they'd do nothing.

When Jabez turned around, he didn't even feel the knives bounce off his wide and muscular pecs, the knives didn't even tickle him.

Finding futile attempts to be hilarious, Jabez couldn't help but cease and laugh at Lyle's uselessness and even incompetence.

"Was that supposed to have the same effect as your other knife?" Jabez asked mockingly, "... No, but it bought me the few seconds I needed to call for backup!" Lyle answered calmly.

Jabez' face showed that he was fuming then showed his anger through his actions leaping at Lyle after he grew a few more feet and grew a bit stronger.

Too fast for Lyle to react to, Lyle couldn't dodge or do anything, so, Jabez landed upon Lying, breaking the ground around them while unleashing his fury on him too.

The more frustrated Lyle grew, the more smoke rose out of his body, seeping out of his armor too.

Jabez had beaten Lyle until his armor was somewhat wrecked, having dirt and damages on it, while Lyle kept his composure, he needed a moment to think and he wasn't given that as Jabez pummeled him. Jabez went so berserk that for a bit, When Lyle had teleported out of his grip, he didn't realize it and continued beating the cement instead of Lyle creating a noticeable crater.

Jabez still had fairly quickly realized Lyle was gone but turned around to Lyle who was unlike himself. Lyle was walking toward him calmly and with bad posture, this put Jabez off guard as he never had an opponent change their attitude on him so quickly, atleast, not before beating them into the ground a bit more and begging for mercy instead of challenging him. As smoke elegantly flowed from Lyle's upper body like he was a fresh chimney in the winter while he tried to oppress his frustration, Jabez was charging with maximum speed as he held two large axes he formed out of his ascendant authority, with plans of what he was going to do to his victim already mapped out in his mind. Jabez finally made a large leap to slam his axes down on Lyle, Similar to a shoe smashing an ant, but to Jabez' surprise, Lyle was gone, meaning he smashed into the ground.

"That fight in you WILL vanish like fog when the rain filled dusk clears to become the early dawn!" Jabez stated as he turned around to see Lyle behind him. All of a sudden, Jabez felt a strong rush into his lower rib, knocking him back into a nearby car, as he flew away, he could only remember that his adversary was capable of instant movement like himself.

"That was a decent punch. I felt that one, but more size always means far more superiority!" Jabez roared before growing even to an even larger height.

By this point, Jabez was a 25 foot tall mass of muscle and power who grew too quickly for the size, basically like magic, his roar could scare the largest of lions and his strength could do damage beyond repair. Lyle charged at him still without fear especially since he could not feel it, without much of anything but his frustration driving him. Lyle charged towards Jabez fuming with loads of emotions and memories, at a certain reach, Generil's Sangfroid paragon teleported again, but this time the behemoth Jabez Gilda thoroughly anticipated, sharing with his assailant a massively devastating blow to his gut, unable to block as he realized Jabez was holding back his true capabilities, Generil's quiet Gen-Oath member was blasted away countless blocks far, as those on the ground that happened to look towards the sky had witnessed him soaring like a rocket and crashing into a random apartment building.

"That looked really fun." The man that was unfortunate enough to have the Gen-Oath patrolman crash through his building said as he was finishing his smoking session, with moderately lengthy and ragged Spanish gray hair with tails on the sides commented sarcastically, as he looked down at a broken Lyle that coincidentally landed on his ground. "He'll need to see the good doc and I'll need to see who exactly did this to him. Rest easy, buddy. I'll get on you later." The older smoking resident said aloud with a whispery tone as he healed within his power. "I need to keep the promise to myself that I'll learn to fly." He thought in his head as he got off the old couch. A few minutes after Lyle crash landed into the apartment of that unfortunate hippy, Ember and Artus who finally arrived from answering the call searched in the area.

"You humongous, cat urine smelling, muscle bound oaf, what did you just do with our brother?!" Ember yelled out heatedly as she arrived at the specific street where their battle took place to see Lyle's tactical combat knife on the ground and signs of fighting, but no Lyle anywhere. Jabez turned around in a malicious manner, Ember stopped his focus on flexing his muscles and boasting about his size, he smiled maliciously showing his gigantic teeth, that was a filthy dark yellow and purely just dirty.

"I was told to simply hurt this you fools, and I caught him alone too, but..." Jabez said, "Were you paid? Are you one of those sick assassins that believe they have a career? Who paid you to attack him?!" Ember yelled with her worry and anger increasing with each question, interrupting Jabez as she didn't care for whatever else he was about to say next. Jabez roared but didn't grow in size this time, instead it was just a battle roar. Backing down wasn't in Ember's mind either as held her combat stance firm, searching for weak points to slash and thrust on her younger brother's attacker.

"Holy moly, bruh!" Artus emphasized his curiosity regarding the giant standing before him, just officially arriving at the scene from something else that caught his attention in another part of the city on his patrol, "And I thought my favorite wrestler, big-boned show, was a giant for being seven freaking feet!" Artus said in a tone where you can hear his genuine surprise by their opposition's height and muscle. Ember got into her usual stance, summoning her sword, "Shut up, you 6'7 goober and help me fight him for answers!" Ember yelled as she didn't take her eyes off of Jabez, "Oh, UHM, RIGHT!" Artus agreed as he too, summoned an LMG and activated his Invinciglow.

Jabez dashed, hard intent, some intent to injure Lyle's siblings without repair, Artus dodged Jabez, who wanted the larger of the two. Artus dodged Jabez by a hair, barrel rolling out of the way of his would be devastating tackle. The many, many bullets Artus blasted at him pierced Jabez's skin, making him bleed some but it was nothing he couldn't handle, none of the bullets penetrated deep enough into his skin however, just some pierced some of his flesh.

"Uhhh, Ember, this guy is unbelievably bullet resistant..." Artus screamed nervously, Ember dashed in, while Jabez studied the bullet that pierced him but dropped to the ground after his durable flesh stopped its momentum, "Need more energy for a launcher." Artus thought to himself while feeling unsure of himself. Ember did her usual slashes with technique and accuracy, techniques learned by her sword mentors. While Ember slashed, that brought Jabez to a knee, Ember didn't plan on stopping until he was unconscious in some way.

"Size... supremacy.. experience the truth of size supremacy!" Jabez thought to himself as Ember's slashes looked like many, mini paper cuts on the pecs and biceps and wherever Ember slashed him on his body. Jabez caught Ember in the middle of her slashathon by her head, a grip she tried but couldn't escape from and tossed her at her brother. Instead of dodging, Artus tried to catch his sister but couldn't stop her momentum lacking the strength to, forcing the siblings into a nearby building like a rocket, like Lyle earlier.

Ember was far more hurt as she never activated her secondary which made the siblings indomitable and indefatigable like Artus had decided to early on, she was simply knocked unconscious with a single hit. Worried for his sister's health, Artus checked on her, he took her violet gauntlets and anything she may have had underneath off to check on her pulse, she was breathing like regularly and was fine, which relieved him of his worries. Even though Artus noticed her attacker held back, this enraged him.

"It's time to end this, welcome to an avenging lead buffet!" Artus shouted with a vengeful tone! Artus stood up after checking on his sister and made painful grunts as he struggled to conjure the weapon he was envisioning.

He felt dumbstruck when he saw green fireworks exploding in the mountainous villain's face and pectorals, the fireworks show was burning Jabez and causing him to groan, hurting Jabez far more than what he, Ember, and Lyle could accomplish in their fight against him.

Jabez screamed and roared from the pain, degrees of burning was shown for the parts of him that weren't on fire, he was down and rolling around in pain attempting to put out the intense fires. It was like his whole body was engulfed in flames but it was on its way.

Artus found it horrifying and felt unsettled at first then he glanced over to his left and saw the cause of this, a man who wore a violet tactical suit similar to the Trio's own, but it had a different helmet, this man was Jabez's contender.

Artus took his helmet off, his eyes were wide open and driven by awe, his mouth was opened tall and anyone around could see he was becoming a fanboy of this guy quicker than he became with his favorite wrestler.

"The hell are you doing, little junior??" Aleph screamed angrily and confused, forcing Artus out of his state of wonderment.

"Anyone could walk by and SEE YOUR FACE or catch it on camera!" Aleph finished, Artus couldn't find his words so he just listened to what he said to do and had put his helmet back on.

"C'mon, Junior guard, we gotta help the other two out!" Aleph called out.

"Oh right, yeah!" After he heard, he began to make his way to his unconscious sister.

Sometime later in the day...

"Wake up, wake up, wake up, Lady need for speed!" Ember hears the voice of Artus saying, echoey and a bit lengthy as she woke up, Artus' face was the first thing she saw, and she thought he was too close for comfort.

Ember woke up fine and panicked, got out of the bed, when she fixed her gaze to her right and saw Lyle in worse condition than her.

"What happened in the fight, you found a way to thwart him alone?!" Ember asked her brother, a far more surprised tone popping up towards the end. "No, and I'd appreciate it if you didn't sound so surprised towards the end there!" Artus answered her as he collected their hero's last words to him before disappearing. "No, seriously though, this awesome fourth squadmate came to our rescue and he was phenomenal. He fought him off with agility and his taekwondo released flames of blue and silver, there was no way that we stood a chance without him. Aleph Aluin, if I remember correctly, our hero, told me he isn't what we signed up for and that he wasn't our problem to deal with, that he's above our pay so we should let him take care of the rest." Artus informed his older sister, Ember, who felt slight irritation in regards to the ending.

"I couldn't care any less about that ultimately, is he going to be fine." Ember asked with overt and deep worry in her tone. Artus rubbed the back of his neck. "Oh, the doctor told me that he was given a harsh beating but he'll be completely fine, I was terrified when he brought me in and I had to see him in the state that monster put him in, but I have trust in the good doctor's promise, he only has a few broken bones. He'll be back on his feet in no time." Artus answered in a saddened tone. Aleph walked in at an awkward time, when the two siblings were quiet and thinking about stuff.

"The first time I couldn't get Intel in a good way, the bastard must've blocked his own signal, he's no pushover, so, I'll have to do this in a more reliable yet slower way." Aleph said, breaking the silence in the room.

"He blocked what?" Artus asked Aleph with an exuberant tone, trying to use the excitement he has to learn about their fourth higher ranked squad mate as a distraction against the situation. "Complicated BS." Aleph answered in a clearly obviously dishonest tone. Ember sighed and scoffed at his answer and presence. "What's the point of having the Gen-Preservers' commander on the team if he's going to be more useless than the existence of mythology?" Ember asked as she looked over Artus, asking him.

Aleph looked and gasped at Ember, surprised she knows what he does, but is far more concerned and appalled by the Mythology comment rather than her opinion towards. "Ok, The assailant concealed his existence by forcibly making his authority shrink, meaning I'll have to be within his new custom radius to get a link to him. Making his light as dim as a shadow instead of illuminating it to the world like the sun." Aleph stated confidently to shut down Ember's disrespect, it worked since she didn't have a single clue about what he just explained at all. Proving his point.

"Since Lyle is resting up, and commander asshat clearly won't tell us anything, I'm going back on patrol in hopes that the large birdbrain bastard isn't a coward who has to compensate with his height to feel better about himself." Ember stated as she got out of bed, and angrily, "But we were useless against him, you experienced it first hand!" Artus stated as he stood in the doorway and halted his smaller sister.

Ember backed away yet held a firm "Yeah, well, you saw how I took him down a knee, I had let my ego get out of control and I made a mistake that's not going to be a consistent flaw, he's stronger than any monster we've faced so far, Art." Ember responded to her taller brother standing in her way, thinking more on her own reasoning.

"You guys were useless against him, I didn't see it, but you were knocked out and you, big guy, prepared yourself, willing to die for the protection of your loved ones, been training good soldiers for the longest, patently for the city." Aleph had said before congratulating Artus through clapping, "Here on out, that's the expectation. So, consider this a break for the moment and to stay here with your brother, allow me to take care of this!" Aleph told the two before heading out to stop the attacker.

Ember threw her sword to the ground, in a bad mood and with a bad attitude. Ember felt more and more frustrated and underestimated but fortunately, though she thought of what Lyle would have wanted, Artus was able to convince her to let Aleph handle the job. It was a three against one decision in her head.

A few hours sweeps through the city.

"Come on out, big handsome fella, come on out to give me some answers." Aleph yelled out as he wandered about a new area.

"Turn... around!" Said a deep voice out of the blue, menacingly, Aleph recognized his voice.

Aleph turned around but saw a man who did not look anything like the brute he was searching for, from earlier, he was drastically smaller and stood at five feet. Aleph stood at six-three, the commander wanted to crack up but kept himself professional.

"You're done hiding away?" Aleph asked with a grin.

"How did you get so familiar with Kiya-eal?" The commander asked with a grin.

"You're not the one that's supposed to be asking that, you're an apprentice of a thief." Jabez replied with a tone filled with disgust.

Aleph chuckled to himself when he observed how scrawny Jabez were compared to earlier, he chucked it up to what he smoked earlier. The two observed one another, glaring a mean look with a string of silence, until one spoke.

"Those were impressive shining burn fireworks, at least considering the rules..." Said Jabez in a genuine tone but with an intrigued look on his face as well.

"Yeah, I was taught how to do it from the best, do you want to see another free show?" Aleph stated then asked as he fired himself up, "Your stacks can't help you from them." Aleph stated with pure, utter confidence.

Jabez laughed but turned serious all of a sudden some time later. "Size is strength, it overcomes intelligence, but I'll show you what it's like to study under Sir Favor's favorite son, behold!" Jabez's speeches then yelled before Aleph combined a skipping sidekick with a blast of his shining burn fireworks but Aleph teleported away and cleared out of the blast radius anticipating his first move.

"Smart move, not fast enough!" He screamed as the glow of authority flowed from him as he grew from five feet to twenty feet tall.

Jabez leaped at him, he launched his twenty foot body without a running start, he leaped at him dual wielding two large Kiya-eal axes, like Lyle before him, hoping to smash them down on him but Aleph exploded strong enough above knocking him back. He then leaped upwards with an overhead kick blasting toward his chest.

Jabez shielded himself with his twin axes, however, the kickback power of the explosion was still too much and it forced him away.

"Those are made of the same metal Josue utilizes for his equipment, eh?" Aleph asked, Jabez grinned, "Yeah, the material of my master's homeland! Your boss seems to be the only one capable of finding this treasure." Jabez screamed as he leaped in again, going for the same attack, except he threw one mint green ax at him that only missed by less than a couple of inches, while keeping the other ready in his hand.

Aleph didn't worry about the gigantic broad ax Jabez threw near him, he focused a stronger blast on Jabez himself, forcing him back more.

Jabez, before hitting the ground, disappeared from Aleph's line of sight, Jabez was pushed even stronger than the last blast but then he threw ax the second at the commander that he had to evade or game over.

Jabez appeared behind Aleph so suddenly and so suddenly he had him in an inescapable bear hug, smiling as Aleph smiled back at him, which caught him off guard. Jabez thought that his prey should be terrified, not self-possessed, Aleph seemed too unperturbed by him.

Before Jabez could let go of his grip and escape whatever he assumed his opponent had planned, Aleph's silver and blue fireworks went off on the ground beneath them like landmines, exploding one after another with the force of 50 C4, not phasing Aleph however due to the rules of his power but burning and hurting Jabez as super fireworks would someone. Jabez screamed out in pain like before, due to burns on numerous areas of his body, he had to flee. Or so he thought, Before he could, he saw Aleph collapse to the ground from his bear hug earlier, exhausted and out of breath from, presumably the fireworks as well. He came back due to how utterly powerless Aleph was at the time.

A malicious smile streaked Jabez' face as he watched Aleph severely weakened from the battle struggle to do anything, "So, you don't have superhuman strength and durability such as your friends, now do you?" Jabez said as that malicious smile stayed on his face, "I assume you've spent all your life making the potentially weakest ability into one that could harm even me, but then the hilarious part is, I am nowhere near the strongest student of magnanimity's favorite!" Said Jabez before laughing harder than ever.

"Ah yes, and of course to heal yourself, you need focus but you can't can you?" Jabez said mockingly as he continued to make his way over. Aleph sounded noise as he continued to struggle to get off the ground, Jabez came over and picked him up by his shoulder then squeezed it tightly, "Nobody best the great Jabez Gilda in combat, prepare to die and be hung over my wall like a trophy encased in Ceugh oils so your body won't decay!" Jabez then laughed as he stared at Aleph.

Jabez then took off Aleph's helmet and proceeded to uppercut him, launching him away, not powerful enough to kill him but just enough to cause him terrible pain.

Jabez cracked his knuckles as he made his way over to his severely injured opponent, Aleph, but he's prepared to end him now. The super sized behemoth  didn't make it even half way over to him, when he started feeling constant stinging on his body, Jabez tried to block the bullets coming from Artus' minigun but they came at him so fast, he couldn't, he immediately knew it wasn't a normal minigun, nor was it conjured by the power he and Aleph uses.

"Goddamnit, I'm at a loss both ways here, plan A won't help me in any way and plan B, I'll lose control and I'll target whoever's attacking, I can already see the girl's quickness will be a problem unless I use it!" Jabez thought to himself as he was under fire by Artus, with the intent of, who knows, "Agh, master Advay taught me better than kneeling to vengeance, my job's done and that fool won't be doing much anyway, this feels like a victory to me!" Jabez finished, finally deciding his next action.

He called out to his master, who was agitated and disappointed in what he was doing and why, his master teleported him away.

"Heyyy uhh, Ember, that guy vanished again!" Artus yelled out to Ember after he ceased fire and noticed he was gone, Ember was busy making sure Aleph was alright, using the medical skills S.I.O.M trained her in.

An hour later...

Aleph wakes up in a similar state to Ember, but somewhat, worse than her's, as soon as he awoke, Aleph hastily healed himself, his hand glowed while however far he could reach with it, he reached.

Ember eventually notices he's doing something Lyle told her about a while ago, she fails to understand it. "What is that?" Ember asked, "Lyle told us Fitz had done that.." Ember finished. "I would explain it to you, but this is all extremely complicated stuff. Just know the gist, this is to heal me from any small wounds." Aleph answered her in a confident manner.

"Ohhh, Sooo that's how you have silky smooth skin like that!" Said Artus with his usual excitement, "Oi, no, he means like stab wounds and mess!" Ember replied to her brother.

"I'd like to make clear that earlier I wasn't calling you dumb or anything Ember, I mean the things that, we, in the Gen-guard can do, It just takes decades and decades and decades of practice to even look new doing it all, not to mention explain." Aleph assured Ember before getting out of his bed and walking away.

Artus during the whole talk was calm and relaxed as ever, until he realized what that meant, "Whooaaaaa, HOW OLD ARE YOU GUYS THEN??" Artus asked with big eyes and a very fascinated tone. Aleph didn't answer, he instead got out of his bed. The siblings noticed Aleph moved as if he never battled Jabez, as if he didn't sustain wounds that would take at the very least a full week to heal. "I am pretty excited to work with you guys as well!" Said Aleph before he left off.

"I'm going to go check on Lyle, I still feel somewhat bad for leaving him earlier." Artus told Ember, "It's what he would have wanted us to do, it's what he would have commanded us to do, and anyway, the bastard is tougher than the both of us." Ember replied, Artus walked off without saying another word, Just a face that told he agreed.

"How old is that guy then, and how did he know about...hmmmm." Ember thought to herself before she followed Artus to check on Lyle.
