Gift - Absolute Wish x1]

I peered at the small window in front of me stupidly. At this point, one thing had been confirmed, I had transmigrated. I even got a cheat, which was the requirement for transmigrators. All in all, it was good. The world I had transmigrated to was a normal world similar to my original Earth. With my cheat, I even have the confidence to climb toward the top of the world. Of course, I wouldn't do that. Doing that would be counterproductive as I was the kind of person who enjoys holing up in my home and reading books. World domination, world destruction, yadda yadda, those things, in my opinion, only idiots with too much time on their hands would do.

'Enough monologuing, time to search for more information in case I missed some supernatural power and it bit my ass later,' I decided. I wished for some spare changes and headed to a nearby convenience store. I bought some bread and water and headed to the local library.

I browsed through all the supernatural events I could think of, such as UFO Sightings, Ghost Stories, Various Urban Legends, Myths, and Legends of this World, Etc. I found some suspicious things though, but nothing conclusive. However, there was a prophecy spreading around the Internet.

"When the stars are right, Chaos will rise from underground, and the Great Oldest One will awaken"

Things like these are pretty normal after all. There are plenty of Doomsday Prophecies on the Internet, like the 2012 prophecy. However, this one brought a familiar feeling like I had read it before from somewhere. I concentrated and even wished to remember. Then, I recalled it. It was from one of my favourite novels, Lord Of Mysteries. That is why that prophecy was so familiar. As soon as I realized that, I went pale because as far as the safety concern, Lord Of Mysteries world was somewhere you would want to stay the hell away from. Indeed, it is a world where a night of stargazing could transform you into a beast of madness. The fact that the entire world was made from parts of a cosmic being and everything was already touched by his will by that virtue was just icing on the cake.

Even though things are like this, I still have some confidence that I could survive, even thrive in this world by using my cheat. It was how powerful my cheat is. Though, it would need a long time to develop my cheat to the level where I could safely stand shoulder to shoulder with Gods. However, I have an absolute wish and if I use it right, I could still survive and even become a hidden master. After thinking through, I nodded in satisfaction and relaxed. After all, I am not the planning type and my policy is to deal with things as they crop up.

I was a little hungry, so I ate plain bread and drank some water. After sating my hunger and seeing that I still have some time, I once again browsed the web. I searched for some novels this time. To my surprise, novels from my world, excluding Lord of Mysteries, were here. With this, I have confidence that I won't be bored.

I was interrupted by the librarian as the library was about to close. I only finished a quarter of the novel I am reading, however. It seemed that I would have to return again the next day. I bumped into someone.

'Mmm, boobs,' a part of my mind thought in satisfaction. I quelled that thought immediately and looked at the girl I bumped into. She was an extremely beautiful lady with obsidian eyes.

"I am sorry," I immediately apologized and rushed to help her gather her books. I eyed one of the books.

"Study of Rituals and Folklores?" I said as I looked at her in a renewed interest. The lady whom I bumped into took the book in my hand.

"Yes, I have been researching them for a while now," She replied.

"I see. Do you want me to help you? I am a bit familiar with them," I offered. I had read the original book and had a little understanding of how the mystic side of this world works after all. And there would be no loss in researching them after all. However, since this was the Lord of Mysteries world, there would be some danger about them, certainly.

"Really? I suppose it's okay. Let's meet here again tomorrow," the lady thought for a moment and readily agreed.

"Good. I am Alice Weather. Nice to meet you," I greeted.

"I am Amanises Ford. Nice to meet you too," she greeted back.

After that, we went our own way. Only now then I realized a problem, I didn't have anywhere to go. I decided to solve this by sitting on a random bench in a nearby park. Since the problem was solved (not really), I decided to think about my absolute wish. Namely, what to wish for. Aside from being omnipotent, I could wish for everything with this. I could even straight up become the Great Oldest One. Of course, I won't, I don't want to be eaten alive by pillars. I could wish for Absolute Strength, but Absolute Strength didn't mean I would have a strong defence after all. I would be doomed if I became a glass cannon. Thus, I decided what to wish for.

"I wish to obtain Flawless Indestructibility" I wished quietly on a lonely bench in a desolate park.

With that wish, unfamiliar energy gushed out from within me. Suddenly, I felt a feeling of weightlessness. I took a moment to reorganize myself. In front of me stood a body, floating silently. I looked carefully at it. It has a petite body. Its resplendent golden hairs were swaying silently. Its mindless green eyes were glowing with such intensity that it put emeralds to shame. Its beautiful doll-like face was expressionless like a puppet. I realized it was my body. Soon after the realization, I was subsumed by strange energy glowing in innumerable colours. The energy changed me and my body. It was a slow but steady process. I fell asleep.

I opened my eyes groggily. It took me a moment to realize that I fell asleep while standing. I felt good nonetheless. I felt free, like all the constraints that were imposing on me were gone. I instinctively knew that nothing could harm me now. Death, Life, Space, Time, even Reality itself have no effects on me now. There was another aspect of my new ability too.

I faded out like a broken image. This new ability was a side effect of being unaffected by everything. It allowed me to fade out of reality, since I wasn't grounded by it anymore. I could use it to escape if I was sealed somehow. By the way, I and by association, my accessories, and equipment won't be able to get dirty now. As a lazy person, I very much welcomed this pleasant surprise.

I checked at Wish Maker once again.

I read the status carefully and hummed in satisfaction. Then, I wished for some money to go to a restaurant. Frankly speaking, I didn't need to eat since I won't be affected by hunger or lack of energy now, but it was still good to eat. After all, I don't know when the world will end. It is better to eat all the delicious things now. After I ate my breakfast, I went to the library to meet with Amanises again. Truthfully speaking, I am excited to meet with her again.

I walked into the library and there she was, sitting by the window and focusing on an old book.

"Hey," I greeted her with a wave and a smile.

She looked up from the book in surprise.

"You come?" she asked if she didn't expect me to come.

"Of course, I come. I am here, you see," I said, raising my eyebrows.

"Sorry. It's just that most people aren't interested in this, and I thought you only just said that in passing," Amanises clarified.

"I see," I nodded in understanding. After all, modern society has the tendency to frown upon things like magic and such.

"Anyway, let's start," Amanises said as she picked up a book and started reading about it while taking notes about its mystic sides. Seeing me, Amansises was also energized.

Like this, months had passed. Our hangouts also began to change from the library to cafes and diners. We also levelled up from taking up from trying the rituals and how they affected us psychologically. It was pretty interesting, so to speak. I had also levelled up one time in this period.

I also made some wishes for superpowers. I just hoped that I would be too late, and the world would end soon. At least, I wished to have some substantial power before the apocalypse came. I was also worried about Amanises. She is my only friend in this world, and I didn't want her to die in the apocalypse. That is why I was hoping the apocalypse would come later. My current power is only at the level of Sequence 7 Beyonder and my current combat power is only good to boil water currently.

Anyway, today is a big day. I asked Amanises for a date yesterday, and she agreed. So we are having a date in the evening. It is nothing much, just a classic date at a good fancy restaurant. With my ability, money is nothing is the last thing I lacked after all.

The date was honestly a disaster. We both didn't know what to say, and it was really awkward, but it ended on a pleasant note, and we agreed to have a date in a place we were both familiar with next time. All in all, life is good if not for the impending apocalypse threatening us. Let's just hope the Cataclysm wouldn't happen until I gained enough power. I know that was naive, but a girl could hope.

"Okay, are all the materials checked out?" Amanises asked, which made me wake up from my thoughts.

"Oh yes, everything is ready. We can now start the ritual," I answered.

"Good," Amanises nodded, and she began chanting in a strange language as I watched from the sideline.

'Good thing that the ritual this time didn't involve dances. Those dance moves are a pain to learn,' I thought as I watched over it. At first, I was worried about those things, as I am afraid of catching the attention of supernatural entities. However, after trying them a few times, I can now safely say that those rituals are just nonsense.

It….it looked like I said too soon because, under my eyes, grey fog descended from nowhere and silvery worm-like tentacles came out from the fog toward Amanises. I immediately crossed the distance between us using spatial manipulation and grabbed Amanises. I attempted to run away. However, tentacles left out an indeterminate sound and immediately reinforced the local space, which caused my meagre spatial manipulation to fail. I grimaced as I felt a presence looking right in the room we were in. That presence was alien and powerful in a way that gave me goosebumps. The look passed through me harmlessly due to my defences, but Amanises wasn't so lucky. The presence's sight had locked on Amanises instantly. Now, it seemed to be examining her.

"Wha… what is happening?" Amanises asked from my embrace in bewilderment.

"I think our little experiments work, and we are now dealing with consequences," I answered in a calm voice. In truth, I am nothing but calm. According to the fog and nature of tentacles, I could safely assume that the one behind this was the Celestial Worthy of Heaven and Earth. If I am not wrong, the ritual which we attempted was the one he scattered to collect his fail-safes. Then, I thought of a great idea. I could protect Amanises this way. Let her be captured and live in the cocoon. Frankly speaking, inside the Sefirah Castle would be the safest place in the world when the Cataclysm started and later when Klein released them, they were fine. I decided to carry out the plan immediately.

"Hey, Am, do you trust me?" I tentatively asked.

"No," She immediately answered without hesitation. I would have been hurt if not for my self-awareness.

"Don't worry, just trust me. See you later," I said with confidence in my voice, at least I hope that would be the case.

"Whatever you are thinking, don..." I didn't wait for her to finish and pushed her toward the pulsing tentacles.

"You fucking!!!! When I see you again, you are dead, I swear!!!" She shouted as she was enveloped by masses of tentacles and pulled into the grey fog. I waved her goodbye and turned around while thinking about how to appease her so that she wouldn't torture me. However, I was relieved. I wasn't very hopeful about my ability to protect her in the Cataclysm and was worried about this problem for a long time. Now, I can rest assured.

"Hmm, Amanises…. Amanises, isn't that the name of Evernight?" I remembered. That was worrying.
