Sleep was very important to Kyla. And if she didn't get enough of it, she surely wasn't the easiest person to be around. And as she woke in two-hour intervals throughout the night, the woman sitting on the edge of her bed smiling serenely at her dozing form was the stuff of nightmares. Her heart hadn't stopped racing since the woman first made an appearance two days ago at Gretel's home where she was now staying. It's been over a week since her breakup with Albert and she was barely living.
Today, after many hours of fruitless whining about mental health and the importance of a blast of fresh air, Gretel had finally convinced Kyla to step out for a while. Now, as she waltzed into the small ice cream shop she frequented, wearing black yoga pants, an oversized sweater, and casual sneakers, her hair up in a messy ponytail, and her face covered with oversized sunglasses, she hoped no one would notice just how much of a mess she was.
