Chereads / The Traveler / Chapter 58 - Whatever your past is, it doesn’t change who you are now

Chapter 58 - Whatever your past is, it doesn’t change who you are now

Genus then remembered what he had seen in Ignis.

"Maybe you should visit Ignis Castle and have a look at their back yard."

"Why?"

"So you have a better understanding on how strong and powerful your wife currently is."

Richard frond at Genus, but then decided to call Cinis and told him he was coming over.

"Well after your visit come and find me if you have any questions."

Richard nodded and transformed and took off to Ignis.

[Human World]

Alex, Luca and Dantis were in the underground part of the facility that was left. The looked around and saw rooms where people were held. As the kept walking through the long corridors Luca stopped at one particular door.

He looked at the hinges and recognize it from what Lenis had told him.

"Could you show us what happened in this room?"

The man nodded and casted a spell.

They saw Lenis lying on the ground hardly moving, at some point the door opened and saw 2 man throwing unconscious Marika in the room.

The three of them all saw her and were utterly in disbelieve. They saw Marika was waking up and bashing at the door, screaming for someone to get her out.

Marika noticed the movement of an 12 to 13 year old boy and told him where she lived and that if he ever got out he should come and find her, they also saw that she healed him and then abruptly stopped. She struggled against the man that came and pick her up. and after that how Lenis broke down the door and ran out.

Luca was devastated by what they just had seen.

"Brother…If only…"

"I know, but we can't change the past even if we wanted to." Alex said to Luca

"Now let's get going there should be a lot more rooms to cover."

Luca nodded and they resumed their walk through the corridor and everything started to unfold for their eyes.

Dantis saw Reinel bringing Dante to an examination room and they took blood and bone marrow from him, he saw his son crying from the pain and his heart broke.

Then a conversation between Reinel and a women picked Dantis interest about a boy named Alec.

When the echoes were gone Dantis just knew who Arthur was.

Dantis then looked at Luca "No wonder your sister wanted to spare Arthur even her hunches are spot on."

"What do you mean?"

"Arthur, is the lost little brother of His Majesty King Ray."

[Ignis Castle]

Richard arrived at the castle and was met with Cillus and Cinis.

While they were walking over to the destruction of Marika, they were talking about her calling.

"To think our Mari is the Guardian of the 3 Worlds"

"Well at least Canus is happy about it."

"What do you mean?" Richard asked.

"He said his life will never be boring."

Richard started to laugh.

When they arrived at the spot Richard was surprised by what he saw.

"Marika did this?" Richard couldn't believe it even when he just was seeing what was infront of him.

"Yes, 12 days ago there used to stand a 2 meter high, 1.5 met thick rock here. All that's left of it is dust and small bits and pieces."

"I toughed it would be good for her to release her pant up anger before she calms down."

"So the sound I heard that day was this"

Cinis nodded.

Richard had a good look at the damage.

"Well I can safely say, she is very strong for someone on half of her capacity, but to use this method for releasing her killing intend and then let her calm down…"

"Luca also said we needed to find a different approach on that."

"Why?"

"Well…according to Nova her energy will be twice the size when she gets her magic back, an naturally her strength will be to, so the damage that is now 300 meters will be 600 or maybe more."

"So what are the solutions Luca came up with, sealing her and Aron suggested to take out her battle magic completely."

Richard was thinking "Well sealing her is not even option because she will forcefully break it. And taking her battle magic will result in our deaths."

"Well consider she has two active magic parts in her body, there is nothing to stabilize the output, it could be that it will stabilize when she gets it back."

"But if not…Than there is one more method left."

"And what is that?" Cinis asked.

"Make a jewelry set out of magic suppressing stones."

"But first we need to know how big her energy will be and see if she can adapt and control it first. I think it's better for her to suppress it like that, if it really came to it she can remove it and unleash her full power and she won't be vulnerable or feel incomplete."

"We have to keep in mind she was left with half of her magic, I can't imagine how she would feel if we told her we had to takeout one just because we are afraid of her outbursts and the damage it will cause."

"I will talk with her about it, I guess she would be less opposed at the idea of have her magic being suppressed, than to have it sealed or have to remove one."

Cinis and Cillus agreed to the idea.

Richard got a call from William.

"William how is your stay in the human world?" Richard asked him.

"Well it's not bad yet." William joked.

"By the way where are you and where is Marika?"

"After you left, she just picked me up and flew up to sky and we are now in a country called Austria. As for Marika she is taking a short nap before we will head out."

Richard, Cillus and Cinis laughed.

"So she practically kidnapped you." Cinis said to William.

"She did, but she said it was to make up for how rough she treated me last time."

"But that's not the reason why I'm calling."

"What is it then."

"Well it's the place were staying at."

"What about it?"

"It seems Marika had found the house where you mother was born and raised for 5 years, before the great war broke out."

"She told me she found it, and bought the house and land and restored it to the best of her ability's."

"When I asked if she had showed it to you she said she didn't because she determent you're not ready for it yet."

Richard had a shocked look on his face.

"When did she?"

"Well according time flow of the human world, Marika said she has owned the house now for 128 years now."

"And the ones who have to maintain the house are the descendants of the one who killed your mother."

"She said until Your Majesty deem to forgive them or to let it go, they have to take care of the house generation after generation."

"Well she is right, I'm not ready to go there yet."

"But to think she went out of her way to find and restore my mothers and grandparents house…"

"And have the descendants of my mother's murderer punished like that… is already taking some weight of my shoulders."

"Well I'm going to wake up Marika now, so we can go to our first destination."

"Alright, enjoy your vacation with her, you earned it."

"Thank you Your Majesty."

William ended the call with Richard.

"Is everything alright with Mari?" Cillus asked him.

Richard nodded "It seems she had found the house where my mother was born and raised before the great war."

Cillus noticed Richard voice was slightly shaken.

"Although when the people we love are already gone, as long as there is something to remember them by they will never be forgotten." Cillus patted his shoulder.

Richard nodded. And changed the subject.

"Were is Lenis?"

"Lenis is in the dungeon." Cinis said.

"How is he doing after Luca's visit?"

"You want to have a look?" Cinis asked him.

"Sure."

Richard and Cinis both left for the dungeon.

William went back inside and carefully woke up Marika.

'5 more minutes.'

"Fine, but we stay at the library until it closes down."

Marika woke and saw William standing in front of her.

Marika got up and yawn.

"Are you alright?"

'I'm fine.'

'Shall we go then?'

Marika took a few thinks and they left the house.

When they arrive William was surprised how beautiful the library was especially the painting on the sealing.

Marika was talking to the keeper of the library.

He told her they could read any book that was on the shelf's but could not take them with them or make pictures of them.

Marika thanked the man and she walked back with a pile of history books and she sat down and started to read.

William was still browsing through the book shelf's and found a few books to read.

He then sat down next to Marika and they both were lost in the world of history and literature.

Marika was half way through her pile when the man came to inform them they were about to close.

She then looked at William asked, 'Do you want to come back tomorrow?'

"Sure, you still need to read the other half of your pile."

Marika asked the man if he could keep the books behind because they were coming back tomorrow.

The man nodded and Marika and William left the library.

On their way back Marika made a stop at the store and bought a notebook and a pen.

As they arrived back at the house Marika started to cook and eat together.

William then asked her "I'm curious about something."

'And what is that?'

"Even though your life was a living hell, how were you able to hold on to the story of your grandmother and take it upon yourself to buy this house and restore it."

Marika looked at William

"If you don't want to talk about it it's fine…"

'Well that because…Don't you think he has the right to know and see where his mother was born and that her parents love her a lot. And despite all that she had went through, her life had also happy moments.'

'Well in some way, you could say that me and Lillium share a crappy childhood. But in the end we never lost our kindness and learned to love.'

'Even though I had so many brushes with death, looking for the boy of that story is what kept me going. Because even thought I was lonely I knew there was boy who shared the same loneliness as I did and I wanted to find him and tell him he was not alone anymore and he had me to count on and be by his side.'

William was baffled.

'As for this house…Well back in the day I traveled all over this world, and stumble upon it. I went inside and found a blanked with the name Lillium on it, after some digging I found out that it belonged to the girl of the story my grandmother told me, I asked around and I was told it was abandoned and nobody wanted to buy it.'

"So you bought it and started to renovate it."

Marika nodded.

"You really are an amazing girl Marika." William smiled at her.

'Don't you start to propose to me now, I only want Richard."

William started to laugh

"Ohhh…who else had proposed to you, besides Richard?"

'Saxues, Canus and Cinis.'

"Are you serious?"

Marika nodded.

And they both started to laugh.

After they cleaned up Marika sat on the sofa and started to write down her grandmothers story.

After a few hours William went upstairs to get some sleep.

"Don't you pull an all-night to finish it."

Marika nodded 'Good night William.'

"Good night."

When Marika saw she had already written half of it she decided to sleep as well.

She turned off the lights and fell asleep on the sofa.

William came down the stairs to get some water and saw Marika sleeping on the sofa.

He covered her up with a blanked "Don't catch a cold now or else I get the blame for it."

William turn around and went back upstairs.

[Next day]

Marika and William returned to the library.

As Marika was reading up roughly around the time of the great war, and because she called up one all the dragons, Carl had pinpointed were the location were tremors were felt.

But The Blue Clan was originally from the human world so she wonder how that clan would have ended up in The Night World.

She stumbled up one something interesting.

'William your last name is Clericus right?'

"That's correct."

'Do you have by chance any siblings?'

William shook his head.

"To be honest I don't remember anything before I was 20 years old."

Marika looked at William.

"The only thing I remember was my name and age."

'Then did you always have lived in The Night World?'

"I don't know…I assumed I did."

Marika the showed William something.

'It could be an ancestor of yours…but there is no doubt about it this is your last name.'

'Unless your memories before your 20th are erased I could access them, and if you have experience an traumatic event it could be that you want to forget everything before the age of 20.'

'If it's the later then they are still there.'

"I always thought I suffered from amnesia, I also through by reading I could jug them, but it never seem to work, so I stopped."

"I gave up because if I have forgotten, it could be for a reason and I shouldn't let the past effect my present and future."

Marika smiled at William.

'Well whatever your past is, it doesn't change who you are now. And if you want to know if they were erased or you just want to forget let me know.'

"Thank you."

Marika was done with all her books.

She then took out the notebook and pen and finished the last half of her writing.

The man of the library came to inform them they were about to close.

Marika nodded.

Marika and William packed up and left the library.

As they were walking back she noticed somebody was fallowing them, but she pretended she hadn't noticed anything.

'William, where do you wanna go next?'

"Hum… can we go to the country that is called Greenland?"

'Marika thought for a moment, well it's summer up there so it shouldn't be too cold and most of the snow is gone.'

'Sure.'

"You don't like the cold?"

'I hate it.' Marika said smiling.

William started to laugh, "Well be prepared because the winters in The Night world can be very, very cold."

'Then I will visit some warm country here and hibernate.'

William and Marika reached the house and went inside.

Marika start cooking and said she would visit the boys after dinner and he should pack up and take a few hours of sleep because they would leave in the middle of the night.

"What about you?"

'Once we reached Greenland I'll get some sleep. Don't worry I'll be fine'

She then showed him the pills she got from her brother.

"Alright."

After they were done eating Marika went over to the boys

'Hi, I came to tell you I'll be leaving tonight.'

The young man nodded "Oké, will you be coming back again?"

'Maybe…but I don't think you will be still here when I do.'

Marika handed over the notebook.

'As promised, here is the story of my grandmother.'

"You're already finished it?" He looked surprised at Marika.

'It only took me a day.'

"Thank you, I'll keep it safe and will tell this story to my children and make sure they will do the same."

Marika smiled.

'If you ever by chance feel the need to tell me something, write it down and hide it in the attic behind the painting. I made a little safe in the wall and the combination is the date I bought that house.'

The young man nodded.

"Take care of yourself, and don't worry about the house."

Marika gave them both a hug, 'Live well and take care.'

Marika arrived back at the house and notices something was not right.

She carefully and silently walked inside to not alarm anybody.

Marika went upstairs and saw a few man cornering William.

But Marika was surprised at appearance of William .

Marika casted a spell and pulled out her wooden swords.

She then came up from behind and knock out a few man.

William grabbed their bags and Marika grabbed on to William arm and ran outside.

As they arrived back at the place where they had landed Marika transformed and held William in her claws.

She then took off for the sky.

Marika and William were fallowed 'God damn bats.'

'William can you make a portal in the sky?'

"Yes…what are you planning?"

'Were sending those bats back to where they came from.'

Marika was flying as fast as she could to keep some distance between them and called Canus.

'Canus where are you?'

"Mari! I'm at the border patrolling."

'Great, I'm sending you something to kill.'

"What are you sending?"

'Bats, and at least 20 or so.'

"Alright Mari, send them over."

Marika then asked William, 'You think you can do it?'

William saw where Canus was and nodded.

'Alright, when I say so, you open a portal.'

"Alright, let's do this."

Marika waited for the vampires to be close to her so they couldn't stop.

As the vampires were close to her 'Now!'

William opened a portal and all the vampires went through it and William closed it quickly.

Marika was panting a little, "We should land, your tired."

Marika looked down and saw only water under her.

'We can't, there is only water below.'

"How long can you keep flying?" William asked her.

'Roughly an hour or so.'

William thought for a moment, "Let's fly near the water surface, we may spot something to land on."

'Alright.'

Marika lowered her altitude and flew in a straight line. After 45 minutes Marika spotted a big rock and what seem to have an house on it. But there was nobody home.

Marika landed and changed back.

She was panting heavily and walked up to the house.

She couldn't spot anybody inside and she estimated this house was vacant for a long time.

Marika and William were in side and Marika saw an old sofa and laid down.

'I'm going to sleep now, if I don't wake up in a few hours than wake me when it's dark again.'

"Sleep well Marika."

[Virtus et Caeruleus Viridi northern border]

Canus had killed all the vampires that came through the portal accept for one.

He called Ray to tell him he killed 19 vampires that were apparently in the human world and chasing Marika.

"What did you say!?"

"Mari is in the human world for some business but apparently 20 vampires were chasing her for some reason."

"Well I left one alive to figure out what they were doing there."

"Alright, when your done with him just send him back dead or alive I don't care either way."

"Got it, what do you want me to do with corpses?"

"Just burn them." Ray said to Canus.

"Will do."

Canus ended the communication spell with Ray and contacted Richard.

He told him what happened and Richard told him to bring the one who was still alive to him.

Canus transformed in to a dragon and took the one who was still alive with him.

[Moon castle]

Richard contacted William

"William where are you and what's going on? Are you and Marika alright?"

"Were fine, Marika is sleeping right now."

"As for were we are… I have no clue, after being chased by vampires, Marika was starting to get tiered and I told her to land, she said we couldn't because we were above water so she flew for another 45 minutes and came across a small island that had a house on it."

"What is your next destination?"

"Greenland, I feel by going there I may find something regarding my lost past."

"But if I can't find it there, can I have your permission to temporarily have a bonding spell casted on me? Maybe Marika can see what I have forgotten."

"You don't need my permission for something like that. You know her, if it can help you she will do it."

"William, no matter your past... you are who you are in the present."

William smiled "Your Majesty sound just like her."

"That only shows that we both care about you and regard you a precious friend, never forget that."

"I won't Your Majesty."

"Now you also rest up and don't worry too much, I trust you and I believe she will be fine when she is with you."

"Thank you Your Majesty."

William ended the call and took out two blankets from the bag, He covered Marika with one and put one around himself.

Canus arrived with the vampire.

"Did you contact Ray already?" Richard asked him.

"I did, and I already burned the ones who I killed and he said we could send this one back dead or alive, he didn't care much for either of the two."

"Alright, let's see what he has to say."

Canus woke up the vampire.

The man came to his senses and saw Richard in front of him.

"Your…Your Majesty…"

"Tell me what were you doing in the human world and why were you chasing my wife."

The man was silent.

"Hey you better answer him…if not I can hurt you so bad and heal you and do that over and over again." Canus said to the man.

"We…we weren't there for the women."

"Then who were you there for?" Canus asked.

"The man that's with her…He shouldn't be there…He is someone who had escaped, and should be brought back."

"Ohh…And who ordered you to catch the man that's with my wife?" Richard then asked.

"The elders of the Sanguis ordered us."

"Humm… Then why do you need to capture him? What did he do? And how long ago did he escape, and where did he escape from." Canus asked.

"We…we were told to capture him and bring him back. Because he is a danger to the vampire clan because his heritage is closely tied the Guardian of the 3 Worlds."

"Well to bad for you, since he is with The Guardian of the 3 Worlds nobody can touch him now. She is very protective of her family and friends. And if anybody tries to harm them, only death awaits them." Richard said.

"How is that possible…there hasn't been a guardian for over 75 years…"

The man looked scared out of his wits.

"Well there is one now." Canus said.

"We are doomed…this world will come to an end if the guardian find's out…"

The man fell through his knees.

Canus and Richard looked at each other puzzled.

"What do you mean?" Canus asked.

"You don't know?"

"It was the vampires and the Red Dragon Clan who started the whole great war."

"And for what purpose did they do that?"

"So there could never be a Guardian being born ever again."

"But they couldn't kill all the Dragon Clans so they hid and imprisoned two clans and since The Night World and The Light World were at war the vampire clan hoped they would kill each other."

"The Green Dragon Clan interfered because the human world got affected by it and ultimately were able to stop them and told them to go back and The Green Dragon Clan severed the connection between the 3 worlds."

"After a few thousand years according to the human world time flow The Green Dragon Clan reconnected the 3 world because The White Dragon Clan told them a new Guardian would be born again and will guard the peace."

"And how do you know this?" Canus asked him.

"That's because…My grandfather told me that a white dragon appeared in front of him and told him, my grandfather was a personal guard of the late kings father grandfather."

"So William is actually from a missing dragon clan." A man suddenly spoke.

"It seems that way." Richard said to Carl.

"But he doesn't know anything from before he was twenty, and for the past 6 years he has been close to me but he actually gave up on learning about his past up until recently."

"What do you mean?" Carl asked.

"Well they are heading to Greenland and if he can't get his memory jugged there than he will ask Marika for help."

Richard received a call from Marika.

"How is my darling wife doing?"

'Good, I had a good sleep, but William is still sleeping, and I won't fly out until it's dark.'

Marika then showed him a picture of William in his transformed state.

"So he is a blue dragon."

'Hi Carl! It seems so, but he doesn't know it himself, he doesn't remember a thing and he even didn't know he had showed his true identity.'

Then Marika saw one vampire that was still alive 'Canus did you enjoy your little slaughter?'

"Can you send at least 100 of them over next time? 20 weren't enough."

Marika stated to laugh. 'Don't complain now it wasn't an easy task for us, and to even pull off what we did in midair is dangerous enough.'

"Your saying William opened a portal in midair on your back?" Richard asked her.

'He wasn't sitting on my back, I was holding him in my claws.'

"And you send them to your country, so you had a legit reason to kill them."

'Correct.' Marika smiled.

Richard started to laugh.

'By the way did that bat gave any useful intel?'

"He said that if you found out The Night world would be doomed."

'Uhmm…I don't think so, no matter how bad it is, I won't destroy my own home, let alone the world where my home, friends and family are.'

"Well I spare you the long version, but it was the vampire clan who is responsible for the disappearance of The Blue and Brown Dragon Clan. And the great war was caused by The Vampire and Red Dragon Clan." Richard told her.

'Ohh…interesting.'

'So why were the bats after us?'

"Well they were after William, he apparently escaped a place and they were ordered to bring him back."

'It doesn't make sense, why now after 6 years…'

'Let's wait till my spy's get back from The Blood Kingdom.'

"Alright sweetie, when will you be home?"

'Don't know yet, this became so interesting, I'm going to dig up as much as I can.'

Richard smiled, "Alright, don't exhaust yourself."

'I won't.'

Marika ended the call with Richard.

"Well we can safely say William has 2 stages awakened, but how many he has is something I even don't know." Richard said.

"Canus you do whatever you want with him, I'm going out for a bit."

"Where are you going?" He asked.

"It's time for me to start opening my eyes again and listen to the things around me."

Carl looked at Richard. "Are you going to the ruins?"

Richard nodded.
