I was just one zombified guy, and there were a couple of them attacking Asami. There was no way I could make it there on time and defend the damsel in distress. If Asami died, it would be because of me.
I wasn't there to protect her. That's all there is to it. And if she died, that would be on me.
But even if I had failed to protect Asami, my body still rushed to her side. I didn't want to sit idle and watch the entire occurrence unfold before me. If I did that before, I can't do it again.
However, the undead creature growled at Asami before he could reach the girl's face. Instead of getting bitten, Asami's brother stole the show. He desperately tried to pull the zombie's arms and kick his feet. Touma knocked the zombie's balance and dragged her sister to my side.
"He's all yours, Kawai zombie!"
That title had a weird ring to it, especially when it included my name. Regardless of the nickname Touma made, I heeded his call and bashed the zombie's head to the ground. And thanks to Touma's cheap trick, the zombie fell flat on the floor. And that part gave me the chance to kick the zombie for good.
As soon as I decapitated the zombie's head, I checked for the two siblings for any wounds. If that zombie made a sleight movement and bit them, I didn't know what to do. Well, there was one thing that would be the right thing to perform.
I would have to kill them both or chain them up on the sides.
But after inspecting their bodies, Asami and Touma didn't have any cuts. My mouth curled upwards while embracing the two siblings for their actions. However, before we could celebrate, another set of zombies greeted my eyes.
"How many are you out here?.... Hmmm one, two, ten, twenty. Twenty assholes want my fists, ey?" I groaned, and raised my two necrotic hands. "Come on, zombies. Look alive for me, will you?"
Upon saying those lines, I punched two zombies on each side with my fists. When my clenched hands reached the zombies, the one on my left got tossed to the side while the other remained still. This zombie on my right was like a stone wall despite his decaying body at my fore.
When I realised that my attack didn't work against this undead, I patted her front and gave her a warm smile. I even added some fake laughs, hoping that this living, dead zombie girl would leave us alone.
"W-What big abs you have, grandmother. And look at those throbbing muscles. Have you been working out lately, grandma? I told you not to hit those weights, since your back couldn't…. HANDLE IT!"
The zombie didn't even let me finish my sentence as she hurled at me like a wrecking ball. My eyes even caught a drift of Miley Cyrus singing me a song as I crashed my head against the metallic rails.
The zombie that came face to face against me had a chest of steel, despite her undead features. And that undead was just a regular zombie found in the streets! However, despite those characteristics, the zombie girl withstood my punch.
I didn't have any powers that could improve my physique, but I was not that weak! I even brought down those zombies on the bus and cast them to the side!
It only meant one thing. And that zombie became the mother-fucking Frankenstein among all other zombies! Well, Frankenstein was not a corpse... But that was not my point!
"God, imagine I could feel pain. My mind would have already exploded!" I grumbled, while standing by the rusty monorail. "And now I have to get back to those two. Hey, dumbasses!"
I called out, but the zombie was the one who turned her face towards me. "No, not you. Those two in front of you!"
"Us?" Asami asked, while shiveringly pointing her fingers at Touma and her.
"Yeah, you idiots! Move and get the fuck out of that gal! Get inside the train or something! She spells trouble!"
After yelling my warning, Asami and Touma booked it and raced back towards the train. Upon shutting the door, that slim yet strong undead creature banged her head against the railcar. Those zombies who attempted that attack did not damage the train. However, when this zombie grandma banged her head, the train's walls crumpled like paper.
If I had to guess it right, it would need that zombie around ten more punches to break that train. And I doubted our fists would do anything to the zombie, even if we wrestled with it. Kane and Aiko were the only people who had weapons in their hands.
It was the reason I called out for them instead of wasting my time running towards Asami.
"Yow, goofballs! Do you mind switching places! We have an undead situation here!" I shouted, and went towards Kane.
But Oyabun yelled back at me and glared at my figure. "Do you think you're the only one who's dealing with this?! Is this zombie even a special infected?"
"Kawai! You're the only one who could analyse this! Check for any information you could and tell us everything!" Kane added, while sparring against a zombie old man.
I couldn't believe in my eyes that these two zombies were a couple. The pair tried mowing us down at each side, which made our lives difficult. If only these creatures didn't appear, maybe we would have reached the base already!
"Oh, shit! There's one there too?! Come on, world! Give me a fucking break!" I cursed, while swiping my fingers on the system's screen. "And I'm on it, boss!"
(Author's Note: No. These zombies might be random for now. Buuut, I just want to rile up the stakes for my big finale~)
I activated my system and scanned the zombie. My appraisal did wonders before. So I expected it would give me any details for these zombies once again. Even though they were just regular zombies, our fists couldn't move their muscles! It was like we're dealing with a wrestler, and the four of us were just the referees caught up with the situation!
However….
"No... It can't be," I gasped, while pressing the 'Search more' button on my screen.
"What does it say in your dictionary, Kawai?" Kane asked, while dodging the attacks from the zombie girl.
"It says here that's just a regular zombie…. A sumo, regular zombie that was improved by the virus," I answered.
Within a few hours, this virus continuously evolved itself and created such a monstrosity. We had to deal with special infected and these regular zombies thanks to that ailment. However, nobody expected that these regular zombies would have some improvements to their bodies.
And the only way to deal with it now is if we had a weapon that was strong enough to explode its brain. If we wanted to be practical people, we could just make the zombie immobile and stop its movements.
But with these sets of upgrades that the zombies received, that thought could be a challenging feat to uphold.
"Shit…. So Asami and Touma are inside the train, right?! You go after them, and we'll deal with the horde!" Kane suggested, and slammed both the super regular zombie with the regular undead.
"Are you out of your mind? I can't just fight the mega grandma zombie inside the train!" I retorted.
"Do you wish to switch places, then? Think again, kid."
As soon as Kane said those lines, I followed his gaze and watched all one hundred zombies zooming in our direction, including the old superman. I gulped the last mucus of saliva and rushed towards the train without looking back at the yakuza.
"You're probably right about that!"
Within a few seconds, I made it outside the train and met the super grandmother. She struck her head against the door, hoping she could destroy it with her bare face. Fortunately, that stupid hag hadn't noticed me yet, even when I was a few feet away from the train. And to add that cherry on top, there were no zombies in the area. It was all thanks to Kane and Aiko dragging the entire army of soldiers at their fore.
But I already had an idea of what to do, thanks to my exchange with Kane. it was the root of this plan, which was one hundred percent unsafe.
Those two siblings had finally met my gaze and tried asking for my help. I gave them a nod and told them they had to wait for my queue before they could escape the train.
"I have a plan, and you won't like it!" I said, wishing that Asami and Touma understood my words
Within a few seconds, I told them to open the gate and dash outside the train. I also jolted at the zombie and pushed it inside the cabin car. And when that happened, the super grandmother switched places with the two siblings, with me being the engine of that plan.
