Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

I slightly lift my shoulders and bend my head down as I let out a little laugh.

"I don't see how you weren't murdered yet", Riley jokingly smirks at Charlotte across me.

"It's not my fault guys are so simple. They think that just because you flirt with them a little that you like them."

"I'm pretty sure that's the point of flirting." I look over my shoulder only to find Charlotte rolling her eyes in response.

"Like you VIRGINS would understand."

Me and Riley giggle as Charlotte looks at us as if she'd pop a vain.

Soon me and the girls reach the intersection, where we split up to head home.

"BYE!" I turn and wave to the girls.

"SEE YA ZEE!" Riley and Charlotte wave back at me then soon walk off.

Those girls there are my best friends. We all first met in middle school because everyone kept on comparing us.

We're not exactly ugly girls so we all drew attention. Normally girls would be mad or jealous about something like that, but it only made us curious.

We naturally started hanging out then quickly became friends. When we got to high school everyone started to call us the three beauties (I thought it was cringy but there wasn't much I could do about it).

Charlotte is the typical blonde blue eyed girl. Riley is the shortest one of us, she is also the cutest. She has the typical cute mixed girl image with long brown curly hair.

Then there's me, people for some reason label me as the (cool) one. The thing is I'm really not cool, I'm just introverted (except for with Charlotte and Riley).

I'm a black girl with dark skin and jet black, short curly hair. I have a skinny, tall frame with not too many curves.

I gaze upon the lake under the bridge. The water looks so beautiful, sparkling underneath the orange sun set.

I take in a deep breath of the fresh air as I began to continue walking. I soon hear footsteps approaching from behind, only to find a boy walking on the other side of the bridge.

The boy looked around my age, with long brown hair that covered his eyes. The boy looked depressed as he slid his feet across the ground and slouched his back.

The boy started to slow down as we got closer to the top.

I began to feel a little uneasy as I watched the boy in curiosity. When he finally got to the top the boy stopped and looked down at the river expressionless.

I stayed and watched him for a second to make sure he was ok, but it looked like he was just watching the sun.

Ha! I don't know what I was getting so worried about. He just wanted to look at the river.

Wait. What is he doing?

The boy slowly began to climb onto the rail.

"HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"

My feet were already sprinting through traffic before I even knew it.

The boy hesitated a little before he began to start falling forward. It was as if he wanted someone to stop him.

"NOOO!" I scream from the top of my lungs.

My arm quickly reached out and grabbed his shirt. I jolt my body back, taking him with me. Me and the boy fall back over on the sidewalk. We both lay there as I try to catch my breath.

"Are you crazy? Why would you do that?" I quickly shoot up as I look down at him still laying on the ground.

I was taken aback by his beauty. The boy's hair was no longer covering his eyes. Since I had gotten a closer look at him I was able to see his face more clearly. He looked like a model with beautiful brown eyes.

The boy moved his gaze from the sky to me. He slowly sat up covering his eyes again.

Nooo! Why would someone with such a beautiful face cover it?

"Why did you stop me?" I snapped back to reality at his question. This is not the time to be thinking about looks.

I straightened up my face and gave him a serious look. " I had too, you were going to die."

The boy gave me a quick look of dissatisfaction before getting up and walking away without saying a word.

"Hey, where are you going?" I quickly get up and start following him. "You should at least thank me, do you know how sad your family and friends would be if you died?"

The boy suddenly stopped, surprising me a little. "I don't have friends, I don't even have family."

He turned around towards me. "What would you possibly know about how it is to live like that?" He then turned around and continued walking, leaving me in a daze.

"Wait!" I ran to catch up to him. " So what if you don't have friends or family, that's still not a reason to off yourself. There's always something to live for."

"What do you want?" He said, still walking forward. "Afraid I might try to kill myself again? Well don't worry sweet cheeks it won't be your problem."

Hearing him say that made me feel scared. It was like he was saying you don't care if I die. You just don't want me to do it in front of you.

"I'll... I'll be your friend."

"What?" The boy stopped and turned towards me.

"Since you said that you don't have friends I'll be your friend."
