Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

The boy turned to look at me again. I could feel the blood rushing to my cheeks. This was so embarrassing.

The boy smiled at me in amusement. "I'm not interested", he sarcastically said as he leaned on the rail.

"Woah, be careful."

"It's fine, I won't try to jump off this time."

I scrunch my eyebrows up feeling a little uneasy. "Then what do you want?"

"Love"

"Uh?" He caught me off guard with his answer.

"I want love, someone I can love, and who can love me." He then gave me a blank look. "But you can't do that can you?"

I stared at him for a while. Part of me was confused and the other part just wanted to run away. Was he asking me to love him?

Just as the boy was about to leave I grabbed his sleeve. "I-I can love you, if that's what you want."

His eyes widened and a big smile spread across his face. "You can?!" He sprung up and leaned into me. It was like he turned into a completely different person.

"Y-yeah", I started to regret everything as I leaned my face away.

"Your phone number, can I have your number?"

"Sure", I didn't like the thought of giving my phone number to a random person but if it will help him I'll do it. I pulled out my phone and we exchanged phone numbers.

"Oh, my name's Michael." I nod my head as I put his name in.

"Bye, Azalea! I'll see you tomorrow!" Michael yelled as he walked off looking like he had just won the lottery.

"Bye!"

Wait. How did he know my name?

When I got home that night it was already late. I walked into the apartment not saying a word to anyone. It's not that I'm rude or anything, it's just the way it's always been.

I've never really talked to my family and barely even know them despite how long I've lived with them. Me, my brother, and my mom and dad are the only ones that live here.

Living with them is more or less like living in a share home. This is probably the reason I'm so socially awkward.

I plop on my bed as soon as I get to my room. Am I doing the right thing? I just got so desperate that…. I don't know.

Just at the moment I hear my phone buzz. "Goodnight beautiful. From Michael", I turn over on my pillow. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

The next day I walk into class feeling exhausted. I had barely gotten a wink of sleep from thinking so much.

"Zee, are you ok?" Riley makes her way over to me.

"Yeah, you look like shit." Charlotte giggles as she looks into her compact mirror.

"I'm just a little tired." I said dropping my bags not even bothering to respond to Charlotte's remark.

"OH MY GOD! IT'S ZAY!"

Uh? That girly high pitched scream can only mean one thing. Oh no.

By the time I realized what was going on I was bombarded by fan girls.

"ZAY! I LOVE YOU!"

"CAN I GET YOUR PHONE NUMBER?!"

"ZAY! YOU'RE HOT!"

"Imma get going!" Riley shouts as her and Charlotte push their way through the crowd of girls.

I forgot to mention a minor detail. I'm really popular, more popular than Riley and Charlotte. For some reason I'm the most popular with girls, but I'm straight. It's always been this way since I was little.

"DON'T LEAVE ME!" I shout back.

"WHAT ARE YOU ALL DOING IN HERE?! GO TO CLASS!" I hear the teacher bark across the room as the crowd scatters like rats.

Finally, that mean old grouch is good for something.

"Alright, alright! Enough with the chit chat." The teacher throws his arms up to signal everyone. "I've made some seat arrangements. There's been too much foolishness." He then held up a piece of paper. "Come find your name."

Everyone hesitantly began to make their way to the front. I was a little annoyed because I liked where I sat. It was right next to Charlotte in the middle row, left column. I also don't want to end up next to any fans. It'll be too much of a hassle.

When I finally get to the front of the line I scan the paper for my name. Oh, nice. I get one of the corners. All he did was move me back a few seats.

"Did you see where I sit?" Charlotte stopped me on my way to my seat. "Cause I'm not trying to sit with your pick me fan girls."

I giggled a little at Charlotte, "Sorry, I wasn't paying attention."

"Argggg!" Charlotte threw her head back. "Nevermind", she quickly shot back up, scaring me a little. "I'll just ask Riley. I really don't wanna get up."

"Ok", I continued walking as I tried to hold in my laugh. Charlotte can be a little bit much sometimes but we still love her.

I sit down as I notice a boy with long brown hair that covered his eyes sitting next to me. He was slouched over on the desk asleep.

He looks kinda familiar. I slowly start to bring my face closer to get a better look.

"Like what you see?"

"Ahhh!" I slugged back in surprise drawing everyone's attention to me.

"Is there a problem Miss Azalea?" The teacher asked sternly.

"No sir", I calmly sat down not wanting to draw even more attention. The teacher gives me one quick glance before returning to his work.

"It must have been that creepy boy, he probably scared her." Somebody whispered across the room.

"He's so lucky, how come he gets to sit by our Zay?"

Great, this is the last thing I need. I hope he didn't hear them. I look back at the boy who now looked like he was trying to hold back a laugh.

"Wait, Michael?"

"So you finally noticed." He looked at me smiling. "Hey beautiful", Michael lifted his head and looked me in the eye. I could faintly see his beautiful brown eyes piercing through his hair.

I quickly turned my head, blushing a little. Luckily my skin is so dark that he wouldn't be able to tell, but it's still embarrassing. "What are you doing here?" I tried to change the topic.

"This is my class so of course I would be in here." Michael responded sarcastically.

"What? Since when?"

Michael laughed at my sudden question. "I've always been in this class. You've just never noticed."

So that was how he knew my name yesterday. I stared at him for a little while. I realized that Michael was kinda off. Most people would feel upset or embarrassed that someone never recognized them, but he just seemed simply delighted that I was talking to him.

"What?" Michael tilted his head slightly.

"Oh, nothing." I could tell he knew I was staring at him. "Um… eyes"

"Huh?"

"Your eyes. They're pretty, you should put your hair back."

Michael smirked at me, "I'll keep that in mind."

The rest of the school day went by like a breeze. After class was over Michael walked me and the girls to the door. We then said our goodbyes.
