While reaching out to the knob he felt nervous and anticipation of what he would experience next. His palm sweated. He couldn't help but swipe the hand in his nervousness.
" It's just a door. You can do it!" giving himself a pep talk he turns the knob.
He didn't want to admit but this dark room made him scared and suffocated so now that he was finally escaping it he couldn't help but feel joy. Deep inside in his heart, he knew once he get out of this room he would know the deep secrets of his life.
" Click!" sound echoed in the room as an indication of the open door. Lucas nervously pulled the door.
A bright light suddenly shines making Lucas unable to see properly, He quickly covers his eyes with both hands and slowly uncovers to adjust himself to the brightness.
He found himself in his childhood room with the same decorations he saw when he came to this world.
He was amazed, he could still remember how frightened he was when he found himself in the crib thinking he was placed in a prison.
He chuckled thinking how foolish he was at that moment.
He looked around and found his mini self in the crib, " I was quite adorable and cute back then."
While he was admiring himself the door to the room was suddenly opened, he turn around to see his parents.
" Honey, why didn't he wake up? It's already been 2 days," he saw his mom crying leaning in his worried father's arms.
" Oh! It seems 3 days before I opened my eyes! Mom, don't worry I will open my eyes in a few days, Mom," Lucas tried to pat Olivia's shoulder but it just passes through her body.
" It seems I can see and hear them but not touch!" Lucas looked at his hand only to find it translucent.
" Ah! how did this happen?" Lucas shrieked in fear, he gulps looking at the situation. He couldn't understand what was happening.
" For now let it be," Looking at his hand he sighs and put the matter at the back of his mind.
He watched his parents as they watched his younger self with love and care. He can see and feel their love for him.
After a while, his parents stood up and decide to leave, he also followed behind them. He wants to know what his parents would do next.
For a whole day, he followed them like a shadow but when his dad had to go to the company for urgent work and he tried to follow him, he simply couldn't. No matter what he did he couldn't seem to the other side of the front door. Everytime he tried to do it, instead of walking to the porch, he would walk to his room.
He couldn't understand how someone could walk out of the front door only to be transported back to his room on the second floor.
" Damn! when did my house become so magical or should I say hunted," He couldn't help but cuss.
Lucas kicked the door in anger but his feet couldn't even hit it, he frustratedly sat by the door.
On this fourth day something unusual happened, his parents, who were worried and indulging themself in self-pity suddenly bundle his young self in a thick blanket and took him to who knows where.
He tried to follow them but like what happened previously it happened again. He couldn't leave the house.
He waited for them by the door. He waited for a whole day, only at the time of sunset did he see his parents and his bundle young self.
He saw a cheerful smile on his parent's faces, they seem happy.
Lucas was curious so as soon as they enter, he circle them to see like a puppy, he looked at them from top to bottom but he didn't see any changes in them.
He shrugs and followed them.
" Will he open his eyes tomorrow, I do doubt HIS WORDS but let's see if this work," he heard Olivia worriedly asking Eugene.
Lucas confusedly looked at them, he frowns.
Soon he heard his father, " Dear, I also doubt HIM nevertheless all we can do at this moment is trust him."
" Whose words! Dad who told you?" Lucas frantically asked though all his words were for not because Eugene didn't even hear him.
Lucas had a strong feeling the person his parents visited knew many things he, himself didn't know about himself.
The next day in the morning he opened his eyes as said by the mysterious person. He saw how thankful his parents were to that person they tried to reach out to that person to show their thankfulness and respect but as if the person vanished in the thin air they couldn't find him.
For a whole month, he saw his dad calling many people to know whereas about that person but they simply couldn't so admitting his defeat he saw them let the matter go.
As if someone pressed fast forward in a few hours nearly five years passed. He saw how he played with Adrian and Hayden, how his sister was born and many other things, but some things were the same and some were different.
Like how he and Adrian met but in this memory they weren't close like he was to Adrian.
It wasn't as if they aren't friendly, they are but they aren't close like he was to his Adrian.
His Adrian was sticky and still is. Adrian can't even bear to leave him for a sec, he still couldn't understand how uncle Hawk and Aunt Alex manage to coax him for training.
But the ones in front of him was like normal friends. He could feel the distance between which wasn't present between him and Adrian.
Lucas was confused he could feel despite looking the same these weren't exactly his childhood memories.
" Could this be Lucas's(the one in the book) memory!" but he somehow feel it was his memories too.
" However, in the book Lucas was too introvert not like in this memory," Lucas muttered and sighs in frustration.
Lucas couldn't comprehend the situation.
And what he saw next left him speechless. It was beyond his imagination. He had thought of many possibilities but he didn't think this would happen.
