Chapter 13 - Cici's POV

I run as fast as I can as I start to smell the familiar smells, smells of the place I called home during my childhood. A shiver goes down my spine when I think back to those days, my fear, my abuse. I run faster thinking of how much had changed, I was proud of the wolf I was, and I was ready to stand up to the man who made my life a living hell.

I was so focused on my thoughts that I didn't notice the witch next to the pack house until it was too late.

Her eyes glowed purple and I made eye contact with her, my body shifted back and I collapsed into a well of darkness and pain.

8 Days Later...

"My Luna" ...

His words echo in my mind as I wake up in my cold cell. I try to hold on to the memory of him for a few seconds more before it fades away and reality sets in.

The reality of the damp cell filters into my vision as my dream leaves my thoughts. The cell was only a few feet across with thick iron bars surrounding three of the walls with cement behind me. Both my wrists and ankles are chained to the cement wall behind my back. The constant injections of wolfsbane and silver have kept me weak and unable to break the metal chains that have trapped me here for goddess knows how long. It felt like months, but I know it was only about two weeks.

Every day the scientists come in and draw blood. My father and that witch are experimenting on me and other different supernatural creatures to try to kill me and gain more power. The slam of a cold metal door echoes off the concrete walls of the cell as I hear the guards start to make their way down the cages.

I didn't have the energy through the haze of drugs I was on the be able to call out through my link to Ash to tell him the trouble I was in. And the witch put up a wall to my mate bond meaning he can't feel my pain and realize I'm in trouble either. Surely soon was the time I was supposed to return to him though. Did he not notice that the time I said I would be gone was taking longer? That's if it had even been two weeks yet... which I pray it had because I didn't know how much more I could take. Even if it hadn't been, I wonder whether he questioned why none of the wolves had shown up to join the pack yet?

The guards did their rounds before tossing a piece of meatloaf into each cell. The grains were tainted with wolfsbane, and the coating was seasoned with silver. The small particles in the food wouldn't kill those of us in the cells, but the poisoning kept us disoriented. I could barely keep my eyes open, much less focus on any of my senses.

I couldn't focus enough to feel the bond to my mate or my wolf.

I woke to the sound of screaming.

The sound told me the guards had begun their rounds early. I looked up to see my father slam his taser baton into the wolf in the cell next to mine. The wolf was so young... he screeched as the electricity slammed into him.

"Enough," my voice cracked, not used to using my words, "Enough!"

One of the guards looked towards me as a curious look takes over his features. My father's lips turn into a smile, which I would qualify more as a sneer. "You think he's had enough," he laughs as he signals the camera at the end of the hall to open my cell door.

"Enough," I say again, the authority coming out in my tone, as I felt the little power I had left still asserting my strong position in a pack.

The door creaks open, and my father laughs as he pulls out his baton. "You aren't in charge here, mutt," he sneers before slamming the end of the baton into my chest and hitting the button at the end. The heat and electricity sears into my body. I stop myself from making any noise and take the punishment. The nonreaction angering him.

"Maybe it's on too light of a setting," he says as he turns the knob up and jams it into my chest again. Black dots fill my vision as the pain radiates through my entire body. I keep my scream inside my head as I feel my mind start to darken.

The last thing I see before I blackout is the man who created me with my kind loving mother laughing before he slams another round of electricity into my body.
