Chapter 16 - Ambushed

"They did what?" Eric exclaimed angrily.

"Yes sir they kidnap Keisha but we were able to get her back" William said a bit scared cuz he had never seen Eric this angry before.

"Well, I must commend you for your leadership skills in leading the available wolves on that daring mission. Go tell the others that I'm happy with them while we deliberatex Eric said in a calmer and more composed tone.

"Will do sir" William said happily as he exited the room to deliver the message to the others.

"Guys, the alpha is proud of all of us for pulling off that rescue mission" William said happily as he slide on the floor with his socks.

"Good to know but is that how you appeared in front of the elders?" Connor asked.

"Yh, what's wrong with it?" William answered curiously.

"Man, how can you be wearing a black fur coat and black sweat pants then wear grey socks and appear before them? Does that make sense?" Connor said a bit pissed.

"It's my life, my rules" William said before dropping on the couch lack a sac of beans.

"What's for lunch? I'm starving after making a long run like that" William said rubbing his stomach.

"Well, Brian and Mary are whipping up something in the kitchen but I can't believe you didn't care to ask for Keisha" Ethan said as he texted on his phone.

"Oh, my mind was ousted by food but how is she?" Will asked.

"She's fine, I checked up on her a few minutes ago. Those boulder boys are going to pay for what they did to her" Kent said slamming his fist into his palm.

"Yh, we're going to get them back big time" William in a cold scary voice that scared everyone. They had never heard William so serious before that he sent shivers down the spine of everyone. The joking casual guy had suddenly become as serious as ever, even food never made him look this serious before.

Everywhere was silent after hearing William so serious. They all just stared at him as his face looked mean and menacing. The silence was broken when Brian and Mary hauled their food in.

"Wow guys, I never knew that you could cook like this" William said as he licked his lips and mouth watered.

"Well we had to make something to fill those empty stomachs after a run like that." Mary answered as she gave everyone their meal.

"Oh well, thanks for the food" Kent said before he dug in.

While they ate two boulder pack members made their way through the eastern side of the forest in their human form. Once they got out of site they transformed and made their way towards the Gatwick house. When Ethan came to drop his dish, he saw the two wolves emerge and walk towards the house.

"Guys, you need to see this!" Ethan cried as they all rushed out to see the wolves standing behind the house.

William and Brian transformed and ran towards the two wolves with deadly intent but was stopped by Eric.

"Brian, William, don't take em out yet. Let's find out why they came" Eric said as he walked down the stairs. William and Brian turned around to face Eric and nodded. Eric walked calmly towards the four before transforming and walking to them.

"Why are you here?" Eric said with an aggresive bark-snarl.

"Call of your dogs and we'll talk" The brown wolf replied. His statement made Brian and William growl.

"Will, Brian, back off" Eric commanded in a calmer tone. The two huffed before retreating behind their alpha.

"Now that your dogs have been put in their place, our Daren had a message for you. He wants to meet you in the valley that we share in an hour's time to talk things out, to put an end to this peacefully" The silver haired one stated.

"Is that so. Well I will have to make up my mind on that so now, scram or I'll have my boys tear you apart" Eric said in a terrifying tone. The two ran quickly whimpering as they held with tails in between their legs.

"What do we do now?" Brian inquired.

"I have to go make up my mind" Eric said as he walked away into the forest with his head down.

************************************

The whole house was tensed with Eric going away to make a hard decision. Keisha had woken up to hear the news and was as concerned as everyone else. William's leg had been shaking nervously cuz he didn't know whether the meeting was a trap or the boulder boys had finally come to their senses but if it as a trap, they could be walking to their deaths. They all walked around waiting for Eric to appear and he finally did. He walked into the house with more confidence and everyone looked as he was about to make his decision.

"I've decided to honour their invitation and go to their meeting but I won't go alone, I'm going prepared in case it's a trap. William, Brian, Kent, Miranda, Ethan, you guys come with me. Connor, Mary, guard the house. Make sure that no one comes near and hurts my daughter, I've phoned Brody and Janet to come and support you" Eric explained to the other pack members.

"So let's move out" Eric said.

The other wolves rallied around their alpha as they moved out. Keisha was quick to hug William and told him to be safe before he left. The six wolves transformed as they leapt into the bushes and ran behind their noble leader. Connor and Mary stepped out and made a perimeter around the house making sure no intruder enters.

They ran behind Eric as he led all six of them to the valley Daren had told them to meet up. They stood around scouting the are for any sign of a boulder wolf but found none.

"Stand strong guys. Be sharp and keep your eyes open for anything" Eric instructed.

"Make sure you don't get caught by any surprise attack by the boulder boys" Miranda added with her Irish accent.

They looked around as they awaited the arrival of the boulder boys. It took a little while before a short howl was heard and they appeared, walking majestically to meet them. It was strange seeing Caleb that once fought for them now going up against them. William and Brian began to growl deeply as they approached them. Snarl-barks were heard as the boulder guys approached and assembled themselves behind their alpha as they were five in number. The snow in the valley was deeper than in other places. Caleb looked William dead in the eye as they all engaged in a very intense intimidation competition.

"Welcome, we've called this meeting to address the altercations that have been going on between us. We've decided to put an end to this and talk this out. Eric, do you have anything to say?" Daren inquired.

"Yes, all these little fights have gotten out of hand and it's time to end this. What can we do to stop this" Eric said.

"Well, this all started because the herds in our side of the forest moved to yours and we were trying to get something to eat. What I suggest is that you give us out of your turf so that we can survive the winter and then it can go back to normal in spring" Daren suggested.

"No way, you guys have more than enough for you to survive so I don't know what you're talking about" Eric lashed back.

"Well you don't stay on our side of the forest so keep quiet old man" Blake responded disrespectfully. William barked at Blake warning him to stay in place.

"How dare you talk to our alpha like that"William growled

"Mind you busines hamster" Blake said to pick on William's nerves.

"Cool it Blake, we need to put aside our differences and sort everything out" Daren cautioned Blake you submitted and maintained himself. William also did the same thing and gave up the growling.

"As I was saying, the herds have moved and we need to feed" Daren explained to the other alpha.

"Nope, you guys have more than enough food on your side so that's not why you guys came. You guys are trying to take over" Eric said angrily. William and Miranda started to know that things were not right. Something was off about why the boulder pack would pick a place with chest deep snow in wolf terms to talk.

"We would never" Daren defended himself.

"Oh quite it, we know what you guys have been up to and that's what you guys have been planning" Eric emphasized as things were beginning to escalate now and tempers blew up.

"You don't know anything old tool. If we wanted to take over we would have killed you in your sleep and taken over!" Caleb said in an aggressive manner.

"Shut up, you have no right to talk to any of us here" William lashed back with a snarl.

"Oh, it seems the beta boy has finally grown some balls" Caleb taunted.

"Oh shut up!" William exclaimed as he stamped his front paws into the snow.

Things were clearly beginning to get out of hand and there was nothing Eric could do as he was held up in an argument with Daren. Miranda soon noticed the sand moving and tried to tell Eric through her body language that something was wrong but he was locked up deep with Daren. Before she could say a word, two wolves from each side pounced on them. The meeting was a trap as they attempted to gravely injure the strongest members of the pack with this and easily takeover the forest. William was shocked as the two wolves appeared and Caleb took the opportunity to lunge at Will. Brian swiftly engaged the two that popped up as William held down against Caleb and what seemed to be his assistant. Miranda jumped at the two that appeared out of the snow and help them off. Blake and Eric now engaged in an alpha to alpha battle as the two fought with everything they've got. Things were obviously bad and it was a make it or break it moment in the fight before the fight. Kent cut off Blake as he attempted to capitalise on Eric being distracted by Daren. The two black wolves engaged in combat as they rolled through the snow. Ethan went up against the last wolf as all of them were locked up in deadly combat.

Brian clamped down on one of the two's necks and threw him into the other before jumping on them trying to do some serious damage. William was busy keeping Brian and his new member at bay throwing paws and biting them whenever he had the chance. Miranda on the other hand wasn't having a hard time out smarting and out maneuver her enemies with ease. Kent on the other hand was trying his best to keep up with Blake as he had more experience than him. Ethan was keeping up quite well with his own opponent. They continued to battle intensely with claws and teeth piercing through skin and blood was drawn. The sound of the valley was filled with wolf snarls and barks.

After five more minutes of fighting Daren and his boys retreated with a warning.

"You have declared war against us you will regret this" Daren said in a cold voice before howling. This made all his boys rally round him and retreat from the area.

As the boulder pack retreated, they turned their attention to Kent that had dislocated his shoulder. He tried to hold the pain but the rest of them knew that it was painful. He turned back to human and climbed up the back of Ethan. He clung to his fur so that he wouldn't fall off. The others had cuts, bruises, tears and puncture wounds all over their body as blood dropped from their bodies. Will got some serious injuries from his fight with Caleb but he got him back with some even more severe injuries. They walked back home as they had injuries from the deadly encounter they had with them. On the way home, most of them got healed and as they approached, they were escorted by Connor and Mary who watched the house. Mary ran ahead to prepare Janet and Linda to treat their wounds. They were silent as they approached cuz they were pissed off about the ambush. They got to the back door of the house as Linda helped Kent get of Ethan's back. The others transformed and walked inside silently. Keisha tried to talk with William but he was silent as ever and walked into the house. Brian's was worse as he sat on a stone outside the house clearly annoyed at the event. They sat down in the living room silent as a wail came from Kent when his hand was relocated. They were clearly angry at what had transpired and the declaration of war added to their misery. Everyone was gloomy, angry and ready to kill any boulder wolf they'd come across. Silence fell upon the house as anger and rage filled their hearts. Eric was now on the hot seat to do something about the war declared upon them. Things were falling apart from the pack and how much more could they bear before they reach their limit.
