Chapter 13 - Chapter 12

Katerina Dragonstone was the youngest twin of Harrold and the Dragonstone bloodline. She walked gracefully wherever she was around the servants and familiars. As she willingly gave them warm smiles making them all bow or curtsy to her. Everyone knew her destination was wherever the young prince of the estate was. But, to her dismay she found herself being close to something she did not expect."Oh, Andre I can't believe you are awake at this hour! I thought you were oversleeping as always! Due to all your hobbies," said a familiar voice which was her brother. As she was about to make herself known neither of the males wasn't alone but with another girl. Which made her question, 'Who is this girl?' She wondered if her aquamarine eyes didn't fail to give the air a bit of coldness to where she was standing. And even so, she decided not to move and kept on watching the girl in Andre's arms. She looked completely self-aware of the situation she was in however, that didn't seem to bother her, she looked very humane but at the same time wasn't.'How odd?' Katerina thought questionably. She had long dark-curly brown hair tied into a low ponytail with a white bow, her body looked perfectly in shape. 'I'm pretty sure that she wasn't as beautiful as me but then, again' she realizes she was wearing a maid outfit, 'She must be the new blood bag everyone has informed me about,' she points out internally in her mind as she glances at her confused and surprised face until suddenly the human laughs. But her laughter dies down as the tension she has created for herself becomes so awkward that she immediately wants to get out there but before she can, she is suddenly grabbed by a familiar cold hand. It was Andres.Katerina went so mentally livid in jealousy that she froze one of the male servants from behind her and shattered them to pieces leaving only, the remnants of it there. But at that moment, she didn't care what she cared about her future life with the vampire of her dreams. And she was not going to let a human get in the way of it.Victoria's POV:Once I was back in my room I took another look around the room since Andre told me to wait for him but I had other plans. I placed my hand on my chest in which my necklace was hidden, but still, I didn't want to be called again. He was such an ass whenever he had the chance but for some reason, the only thoughts I had in my mind are 'What will he do to me once I am no use to him? Will he kill me?' I dreaded the thought as I gripped it for a while until I heard a knock coming from my door as I got closer I sniffed the air to verify who it was but to my surprise, I smelt nothing. So I opened my door slowly revealing myself to the lady in front of me. She was very beautiful, she was 2 inches taller than girls my age, she looked very dressed up she was from a royal but I paid no mind as I was watching myself act in front of her instead of Andre but soon she spoke,"I won't ask again, are you Andre's familiar?" her tone was cold, serious, and yet so curious. I couldn't help myself but answer,"Yes, and who might you be, ma'am?""I ask the questions here and you better answer me truthfully," she icily snarled and continued, "Are you something interesting that he likes or just a mere toy like the rest of them?"I completely had no idea what she meant but something told me that she wanted information about him in which case I won't give it (for some reason). 'A vampire getting information from other creatures sounds like a girl who'd want to destroy anyone that messed with her kind,' I thought as I remembered girls from the orphanage used to pick on me because all the boys loved my golden orbs. Still, they just wanted me to get the information in exchange for my safety when I gave them the answer they wanted and didn't want. I would either be tortured with wolfsbane or silver but in whichever case, I knew how to stand up for myself and so I did,"If you wanted information you could have just asked Prince Andre or Lord Harrold yourself since you were listening in on us."And within a flash, she twisted my arm behind my back making my face hit the door warning me, "Maybe if you gave me the information I needed then, I won't have to be doing this to a lowlife like you.""I-I don't have any information on anything! I-I just got here so...please let.me.go." my inner wolf growled which didn't go unnoticed by her but she brushed that thought away as expected and dropped me to the ground kneeling in front of me making me carefully reach up to my arm rubbing it so there won't be a bruise. She kept scanning me with those same aquamarine eyes her brother had until she noticed my golden eyes. Her mouth twitches in disgust as she mutters,"Oh, and in case you don't know...I am Katerina Dragonstone second heir of the Dragonstone bloodline and you better remember that" she hissed as she trotted away until she disappeared.Sometime later...I made my way outside my room and into the corridor to the left where I had no idea where I was heading but, what I could tell was that my necklace kept getting brighter with every step I took. It was very hard to hide it even more but I finally managed to find something I was looking for. I carefully walked into the room that looked like it was the kitchen. The kitchen was nothing compared to the Cornelian Pub, where I was from. It had a stoned-bricked fireplace covered with nothing but leafy branches, the wooden shelves beside it were filled with wooden utensils while on the other side were large wine barrels situated some on top of the other and others were lying next to each other with chopped oak woods ready to throw into the fire. The walls were framing the room to make the whole place more detailed and aware of the corners of the room, in the center of the room was a long kitchen table where the ingredients with pots and pans were ready to be used with a candle lighting up the room a bit. Fruits and vegetables are scattered in baskets and some on wooden hooks on the side of the walls"I thought vampires don't eat?" I asked out loud not expecting an answer anytime soon. But then, my necklace started glowing to the right side of the kitchen as I walked to where it was taking me but only for me to notice a hidden contraption underneath the cleaning utensils. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion as I was about to touch it I suddenly heard a noise coming from the door behind me and I asked while standing up,"Who's there?" my voice was friendly but I soon realized that the smell and glow from my necklace were telling me that no threats were there. Once relaxed, I heard someone's voice, "Are you Lord Andre's familiar?""Yes, and may I ask who's asking?" I made sure my tone was, even so, I wouldn't attract myself any further than now. I turned to face a boy no longer my age, he was short and long with messy black hair that stuck to his small forehead, he wore blue garments with a dark overcoat and to be sure he was just outside by the look of his dirty boots. As he took out something from the giant oven and placed it in front of me with a smile,"Go on you're probably hungry besides you look like you haven't eaten since you got here."I stared at him as he showed genuine kindness since I got here so far and never before has anyone shown me that since... I will not go there but as I was saying he seems like a nice fellow to have around. I stared at him for a while until he nudged me again to eat the food in front of me, I shrugged my shoulders as I started eating the pie and by the heavens, it was more delicious than anything I'd tasted."It's so good did you make this?" I asked curiously with my mouth full at the boy in front of me. He stares at me proudly as he smiles brightly placing himself on a chair and leaning on the table to take a closer at me."Yes and I hope to make more in the future but that is not what you are asking?" he stared at me slyly in a teasing way. I shook my head while playing with my food, I took a deep breath as I answered,"I just want to know how in this world did I get into this agreement again..." I groan in annoyance as I poked a spoon into the pie imagining I was stabbing that vampire, "I didn't get your name by the way."He chuckled as he leaned back into his chair, "The name is Henry Blackkey and I'm the farmer of the staff."I nodded as I glanced at him and I smiled, "Victoria Greenwolf. Andre Beauvale's familiar, and " smiling jokingly at him as he stared at me sadly which I didn't understand until he said,"Has he-" I cut him off by saying, "Oh don't worry, he is already getting on my nerves and I already can't stand him any longer when he summons me like today and I feel used. I don't like the feeling and it is annoying."Henry chuckles as he glances at me, "Even so the contract cannot be broken unless he commands it but by the look on your neck it is just a faded mark that probably means you are not actually what you say you are."'For a farmer boy he sure is smart for his own good I'm glad they haven't killed him yet because if they did I would probably be an idiot for the next decade' I thought laughing to myself making him look at me strangely I stared him with my golden orbs shifting in between killing him wait no- by that I mean avoiding his gaze until I manage to control my inner turmoil."Hmph...you have a smart mouth I'll give you that," I laughed as I focused on the contraption she once was curious about. I chuckle as I manage to change my emotions to something serious, "But I must ask why I should trust you?"He shrugs with a glint of mischief behind his actions but as he is about to say something else someone clears their throat they turn to see an older-looking woman in her 40's however, her attitude sounds much more like an ancient old hag. She had dark grey hair with a silver line on the side, her hair tied up into a low bun, and her face had that mean-looking face that only seemed neutral yet dangerous."Henry I thought I told you to clean the whole kitchen while I was attending to our Lady!" her stern face making her seem intimidating, "and stop flirting with every familiar you see and get back to work!"I turned to see the look on Henry's face was priceless he was nervous and another emotion that emanated from his body was fear. I smirked thinking to myself that he was not a real man who could stand a frightening woman and I had never felt so cool in my life since the orphanage. "Y-Yes ma'am!" he rushed passed the housekeeper as she turned to me waiting to see my reaction and to her surprise I was not afraid of her because she reminded me of Ms. Bane when she caught me."So," she stared at me as she continued, "You are Master Andre's familiar, Victoria is it?"I could only nod so I stood up while walking towards her and said, "You must be the housekeeper of BloodCastle, right?" adding a bit of my curiosity to the mix as she scanned figuring me out with her eyes, and some reason she could not. I mentally smirked at her as she cleared her throat and continued with what she was about to say,"I see that the young Master did not inform you about our familiar customs, again."It took me only a second to realize what she said last, however, this won't stop me from learning about them. I take a deep breath, "I apologize, ma'am. I was not aware of your title here."She humphed at me as she walked towards me, my werewolf senses tingled, and I turned around as she checked me out from head to toe it was nerve-wracking."You are healthy, strong-willed, and determined I can see that he brought one with a strong mind as well for his amusement."I didn't know how to answer that, so I let her continue, "And even so..." she gave me a stare that lasted for 5 seconds from my feet to where my face was, "You can help us out with the current ball they're planning to have. But before we both do anything I will introduce myself I am Madam Wrightseal and I am the housekeeper of this family. Pray tell what is your name?""Victoria. Just Victoria," I answered honestly however I didn't give my last name due to it being a popular scandal from the other side of the wall. She nods and hands me an empty basket saying, "I want you to pick all the vegetables in the Lady's garden. Then after you're done, you may head to the library and pick the books I instruct you about both Masters and their familiars."I complied just for her not to be on my back and so I did as told but, I turned to her and nervously asked, "Where may it be located?"She stared at me for a moment soon joining to show me the way to the Lady's garden as we headed out of the kitchen was something I didn't expect...
